Physical development in childhood is an important aspect in the growth of infant motor skills. Various activities help in boosting the growth. At each stage in child development is essential and plays a significant role in the development. At early childhood, a child may be introduced to music whereby the caregiver of the child frequently plays soft music to the child. This paper sets to present the positive role of games and child play in preschool education. Early childhood is an elemental and crucial stage in a child`s life with regards to the child`s intellectual development, physical growth and social development. Notably, this period lasts for about six years into childhood. . This stage entails the growth of a child`s mental and physical capabilities. Therefore, at this stage, a child is in dire need of high quality care and learning processes. Hence, this crucial responsibility calls for preschool education. Preschool education is influential in the development of the imaginational capabilities of a child before attaining the edge of formal education. In preschool education, a child is provided with unlimited scenarios, space, props and the necessary support and guidance. This process is better aided through child play and games. Child play and games provide practical learning approaches hence aiding in the intellectual development of the child. Moreover, the games provide a fun experience and social fulfillment when they interact with other children (Squire and Jenkins, 2003). Therefore, child play and games impacts positively on a child`s social and creativity building a process nurtured by preschool education. Thus, games and child play are crucial components in preschool education.

I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the city of Barton for giving an
opportunity to present my proposal on the Helping Hands Reach community center. This
proposal is designed to offer a community center for kids of all ages and their parents to be in a
position to learn together and communicate better. This is the era whereby technology is making
learning easier and more fun for the children of today. The center is dedicated to enhancing the
physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of the children that join it. The center as
well offers babysitting and child care services, including early opportunities. The center provides
care for infants and toddlers up to 2 years of age. But for preschooler’s ages 3 to 5 years and for
school-age children who may need care before and/or after school and on other days when
school is closed.
Age group 1 – infants
The infant room has activities to enhance the child’s eye-hand movement. The room will
be decorated with colors very attractive to the yes and decorations that will catch the attention of
the baby. The parent will engage in the activity of using various kinds of toys to play with the
infant. The toys are designed and aimed to teach the child different skills such as touch sound
and sight. The child will be in a position to observe carefully their mothers activity and imitate
them. This setting is structured to promote positive interaction between the child and the mother.
And it does not only enhance interaction, but also the child will be able to see how other children
and their mothers interact. Daily activities played in this room are games such as patty-cake and
peek-a-boo. Patty cake is teaching the child more than you think. The game helps the child to
develop language skills. Peek-a-boo, on the other hand, excites the infant’s senses, shapes gross

The age group I chose is 3-5 years of age. The physical development of children in this age group is movement and coordination which can also influence the curriculum. During this time, children’s’ brains are like sponges. They are watching and learning everything in their environment. This age group brings a “wide variety of experiences to the preschool setting, which should serve to inform curricular decisions (Jaruszewicz, 2013). The social and emotional aspect of this age group is that of caring, understanding and many more. Three to five-year old’s need the aptness to proceed around and we as teachers should promote physical development. A great way of doing this is consistently doing active play inside and also outside of the classroom. Teachers should label bins and shelves that have objects such as toys and the areas they are playing/ working in. The children will be able to independently pick them up and return them as they play. Incorporate games in the curriculum that lets them move free and easily within the game.
Cognitive aspect of a 3-5-year-old is that their brain functions are learning things on a daily base to help the child. In the newsletter by Paraskevopoulou it was written: “Curriculums that include topics such as appropriate scheduling, creating a developmentally appropriate classroom, and making the most of learning centers, will help create a classroom environment that actively engages the child and keeps his or her attention. When implemented in the classroom, these components contribute to less discipline problems and a smoother day” (Paraskevopoulou, F, (2008).
The key to successful learning, especially for children ages 3-5, you must have a classroom environment that’s design especially for them. The environment should be one where they able to move around freely with no obstacles in their way. The curriculum must be on the preschool level for the students to understand.

The age group I chose is 3-5 years of age. The physical development of children in this age group is movement and coordination which can also influence the curriculum. During this time, children’s’ brains are like sponges. They are watching and learning everything in their environment. The social and emotional aspect of this age group is that of caring, understanding and many more. Three to five-year old’s need the aptness to proceed around and we as teachers should promote physical development.
