A phrase is a group of words that does not contain a subject or verb but works together in a sentence. Phrases are often used for descriptions and can describe verbs or adverbs by explaining how or why something happened. Examples of phrases include "so very sweet", "earnest in her desire", and phrases in sentences like "Filled with joy, the girl jumped up and down" or "He performed the song with a smile on his face."
