2. To give up is to stop or quit doing something.
When you are tired of something or fed up
you can give up.
Example: I decided to give up eating flesh
because it is so bad for my health.
To come across is to find something
Unexpectedly.
Example: I was very surprised when I came
across those conversations!
3. To continue doing something.
Example: Carry on with your presentation, please.
To get out of bed or wake up.
Example: I have to get up at 3 a.m tomorrow
because the trip lasts 12 hours.
4. When you are so sleepy you start to nod off.
Fall asleep.
Example: The majority of accidents happen because the
drivers nod off.
To ruin something or to cause emotional
problems.
Example: Please, don’t mess it up again because
it’ll be your last chance.
5. To get annoyed or angry.
Example: When you remind her of him, she totally gets
worked up.
To tolerate something or somebody.
Example: I just can’t put up with him! I WANT
HIM TO LEAVE!!!!!
6. To have an idea, occur, appear.
Example: I didn’t know what to write but when
I read about it, I came up with this fantastic idea!
To cancel something.
Example: We had to call off the meeting
because the president couldn’t fly to New York.
