◦ The main objectives of making this Project Based Learning
presentation on topic “ Pharmaceutics Medicines ” is to create
awareness about how to use pharmaceutics medicines.
◦ The other objective of this topics is to discuss about the use of
pharmaceutics medicines as written by prescribe doctors and
understood by pharmacists and translated the concept of uses of
medicines to patients.
Pharmaceutical medicine is the discipline concerned
with the medical aspects of research development ,
evaluation ,registration , monitoring and marketing of
medicines in the interests of patients.
Pharmaceuticals medicine used in the diagnosis ,
treatment ,or prevention of diseases and for restoring
correcting or modifying organic and inorganic
functions of body.
If substances have medicinal properties they are
considered as pharmaceuticals medicines products. Ex
aspirin [ from willow tree bark] , morphine [ from
opium ].
Sometimes described as what the body does
to the drug is the study biochemical
medicinal physiology which shows the
response and effects of body to the drug.
◦ Contain main four stages
Absorption
Distribution
Metabolism
Excretion
Sometimes described as what a drug does
to the body is the study of the
biochemical, physiology and molecular
effects which shows effects and response
of drugs on the body.
◦ Contain main four stages
Absorption
Distribution
Metabolism
Excretion
OTC medicines are commonly called as Over The
Counter Medicines in Pharmaceutical medicines.
OTC mainly treat
Body pain and fever.
Common cough and cold allergies.
Allergic condition.
Antifungal and antibacterial infection
Examples
Aspirin, ibuprofen, paracetamol, - Pain and fever
Ranitidine , omeprazole - Acid reflux controller
 Levocetirizine and fexofenadine - Anti histamines
Caffeine , phenylephrine , montelukast – Common cold and cough
Mefenamic acid , Drotaverine, - Stomach pain
Aceclofenac and paracetamol - body pain and relief fever.
Nimesulide and paracetamol – body pain and control fever
Ketoconazole , itraconazole - Anti fungal infection
Come in the forms of tablets , capsules , ointments and in form of syrups
And suspension
The medicines which prescribed by professional licensed doctor.
These medicines require a prescription from a doctor or other health care
professional licensed to prescribe medicines, and should be taken exactly as
directed by the professional doctor or by general physician.
Prescription medicines help in treating Ear , Eye and sinus infection.
Also help in treating Chronic diseases, High blood pressure, Diabetes,
Asthma and cancer . Also treat mild and severe hormonal problem such as
thyroid , prostate etc.

Ear infection : Erythromycin , moxifloxacin , levofloxacin
Eye infection : Tobramycin , moxifloxacin , dexamethasone , ciprofloxacin

Chronic diseases : High blood pressure : losartan , telmisartan , amlodipine .
Diabetes : metformin , glimepiride ,gabapentin
Examples :
Asthma : montelukast , levalbuterol , ipratropium , methylprednisolone ,
caffeine , guaifenesin .
Cancer : bicalutamide , capecitabine etc.
The medicines which can sell without prescription of
doctor in OTC types such as multivitamins homeopathic
ayurvedic medicines in the form of tablets and in syrups
Multivitamins and lysine ferrous sulphate , folic acid
zinc sulphate syrup and tablets only as advised by
pharmacist

A term referring to the

◦ Ex : paracetamol is a generic
name because it chemical

name giving by the producing
company, generic drug refers
to a drug produced after the
active ingredient of the brand
name drug.
◦ Ex: Paracip 500 and tynol 500
are brand names containing
the same ingredient
• The main outcomes of pharmaceutics medicine is to set a goal
in medicine that can halt and cure patients with medications
• The relative outcomes of pharmaceutics medicine is to give
relief and improve health and not to harm their physical health
and mental health
• In addition to the monetary cost, patients experience psychological and
physical pain and suffering as a result of medication errors. Finally, a
major consequence of medication errors is that it leads to decreased
patient satisfaction and a growing lack of trust in the healthcare system.
• Understand the medicines chemical composition and side effects of
medicines that cannot harm the patients health that can create natural
environment.
