Politically, Nepal transitioned from an absolute monarchy to a federal democratic republic and has experienced instability in recent years. Its economy has a GDP of $27 billion USD and relies heavily on agriculture, tourism, and foreign aid. Major religions in Nepal include Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam and festivals and dances are an important part of Nepali culture.
