The document discusses the role of private companies in developing lifestyle and home care services in Europe. It argues that private companies can help professionalize the sector by creating stable jobs, promoting quality services, and developing fair market conditions. Case studies from Belgium, Sweden, and France show that voucher systems and tax incentives that involve private companies have led to more jobs, higher demand for services, and a reduction in undeclared work. For the sector to grow sustainably, policies should focus on increasing professionalism, improving working conditions and public image, and ensuring regulatory stability.

200TWh of Annual Energy Savings in Europe by 2020, part 1MatsBerglind
IT and Demand Response programs can be used to achieve substantial energy savings. How does the future look? This presentation will outline both the potential of these IT enabled programs taken from a range of studies collected globally, as well as map the political and market requirements needed to make them a reality for Europe.
This presentation by the Netherlands Consumers and Markets Authority was made during the “Radical innovation in the electricity sector” held at the 63rd meeting of the OECD Working Party No. 2 on Competition and Regulation on 19 June 2017. This document discusses the deregulation and reregulation of the British retail energy market. It provides background on the privatization and liberalization of the gas and electricity markets in the 1980s and 1990s, leading to the formation of the "Big Six" dominant energy companies. It then analyzes trends of rising prices, lack of switching by many consumers, and recent political interventions to mandate cheaper tariffs and limit complex tariff options, in an attempt to make the market fairer for consumers. The document concludes by discussing the tensions between promoting competition through switching versus protecting consumers through enforced tariff changes.

Krimson presented a solution for Nebus Loyalty's problems with their current loyalty marketing platform. Nebus Loyalty was spending a considerable budget on a closed-source system with little control that took weeks to implement small changes. Krimson proposed using Drupal, an open-source content management system, which would allow for more control, flexibility, and faster development at a lower cost. They created a new platform called the Pickwick Project to address Nebus Loyalty's needs. Initial quick wins included integrations that took from minutes to days to implement, demonstrating Drupal's capabilities.

Responding to energy efficiency challenge marianne osterkornreeep
Presentation by Dr. Marianne Osterkorn at DoE conference on 3-4th June 2010 in Istanbul, giving an overview of energy efficiency efforts around the world.
The Berlin Energy Agency is a public-private partnership that facilitates energy efficiency. It provides energy consulting, contracting, and international knowledge transfer. It has helped develop innovative financing schemes like energy performance contracting that decrease the need for subsidies. Energy agencies play an important role as intermediaries between public and private sectors to support projects that increase energy efficiency. Political support and clear mandates are essential to leverage synergies across levels of government and funding instruments.
The document discusses barriers to energy efficiency implementation for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India and potential solutions. It notes that SMEs face high energy costs but lack access to energy efficient technologies. Barriers include a lack of awareness, data, financing options, and coordination. The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) works to address these challenges by collaborating with government agencies, facilitating market transformation, and providing financing and technical solutions tailored for SME clusters.
IndustRE - Renewables and Industrial Demand Side ManagementLeonardo ENERGY
IndustRE is a H2020 project with two aims within two timeframes.
Project Aims
The flexibility potential of large industrial users’ electricity demand presents an opportunity to deal simultaneously with two issues at the top of the European energy policy agenda:
Cost-effective integration of variable renewable electricity
into the power systems of Europe
The rising cost of electricity and its effects on the
competitiveness of European industry

E invoicing, how to facilitate the adoption of by sm esFriso de Jong
The document discusses the adoption of e-invoicing by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Europe. It outlines recommendations from an expert group to facilitate e-invoicing for SMEs, including using common invoice standards, ensuring e-invoicing saves time and money, providing legal clarity, and establishing competitive marketplaces. It also notes feedback on the expert group's report, such as whether adoption depends more on mindset or technology changes, and the need for clear frameworks and guidance customized to different SME groups.
This document summarizes the key points from a presentation on empowering energy consumers in the European Union. It outlines a three-point plan to 1) empower consumers through information, smart meters, and real prices, 2) increase competition and flexibility through access to dynamic prices and service providers, and 3) ensure consumer protection and sound data management. Specific policies are discussed to achieve these goals, such as removing barriers for aggregators, guaranteeing rights to individual and collective participation, and establishing clear principles on consumer data access. Challenges around energy affordability and potential roles for local energy communities are also mentioned.

The document discusses the role of Acquirente Unico (AU) in the Italian electricity market. AU was established to ensure adequate electricity supply and capacity for captive customers in the "enhanced protection" market, including households and small businesses. AU is responsible for procuring electricity through bilateral contracts and power exchanges to supply retailers serving this market. It also monitors retail market conditions and operates an alternative dispute resolution system. The role of AU has helped liberalize the market over time as the enhanced protection segment has decreased from 124.3 TWh to 78.1 TWh from 2007-2012 and more customers switch suppliers.

The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.
Generating privacy-protected synthetic data using Secludy and MilvusZilliz
During this demo, the founders of Secludy will demonstrate how their system utilizes Milvus to store and manipulate embeddings for generating privacy-protected synthetic data. Their approach not only maintains the confidentiality of the original data but also enhances the utility and scalability of LLMs under privacy constraints. Attendees, including machine learning engineers, data scientists, and data managers, will witness first-hand how Secludy's integration with Milvus empowers organizations to harness the power of LLMs securely and efficiently.
