   Usually regulate safety and are granted following an
    inspection

 Can be taken away
 Fees are paid based on how much the business earns
 Certificate that shows you have the necessary
  education and training to perform a job
 Protects consumers from unskilled or unqualified
  business operators
 Examples include:
   Liquor
   Fishing
   Nursery
   Transportation
 Document that grants an inventor the right to exclude
  others from making, using, or selling an invention
 To obtain a patent, you must:
   Have an invention that does not contain prior art (not
    been publicly available)
   Should not be unobvious, or it can’t be obvious to
    someone with skills in the field (new and unexpected)
   Must have utility – useful, not silly
 Word, symbol, design, or color that a business uses to
  identify itself or something it sells
