There are many people who are attempting to lose weight,some will succeedand others will
fail,howeverthe biggestbattle for people whoare able to reduce theirweight,is often

There are some obviousroutes to take in the battle to lose weight.They wouldinclude
increasingthe amount of exercise andreducingthe amount we eat. It is this eatingissue that
can be the hardest to control and to reduce as our temptations oftenget the better of us.
In my opinionwhat we needto do isto make our house a fat free zone.If we become hungry
and start lookingthrough the cupboards and notice for example a packet of crisps, it can often
be verydifficultnot to eat them. Our desire for instant foodcan become too great and our
innerdemonstry and convince us that one packet will not hurt. If that packet of crispshad not
beenin the cupboard we would have not beenput intothat positionof temptationand would
of course not have beenable to eat them.

A number of years ago, whenI went about losingmy own excessweight,Idecidedto remove
all of the foods from all ofthe cupboards which I was aware that I neededtostop eating. I
also removedcertain drinks such as alcoholicdrinks which were also somethingwhich
contributedto my weightproblems.I put into the dustbinall of the takeaway menusthat I
had and basicallyattemptedto make it as hard as possible forme to eat or drink anythingthat
wouldcause excessweightgain.
Whenout and about I had to be determinedtokeepto my dietand to not be temptedto buy
any of these itemsfrom the shops etc. Thiswas not easy to do as I am somebodywho lovesall
of these fatty type foods.

In my weeklyfood shopI boughtfar more fruitand vegetablesandwas surprisedat how
quicklymy taste budsstarted to change.I soon lookedforward to eating an apple as an
example and the weight slowlybut surelystarted to reduce.
After a number ofmonths I reached a weight that I was happy with. My wife stated that I was
now able to start eatingitemssuch as dry roasted peanuts,this was a particular favourite of
mine.This was possiblytrue but could easilyresultin a returnto my old bad habits and of
course weightproblems.I decidedto stick with the fruit and my cupboards are still free of
those foods which I love to eat but which are not goodfor my weight.
