Charles Dotter was a pioneer in the development of minimally invasive endovascular techniques. He performed the first percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, marking a new era in non-surgical treatment of peripheral artery disease. Dotter invented many early devices used in percutaneous interventions, including balloon catheters, guide wires, and stents. His belief that vascular diseases could be treated less invasively through the skin inspired many innovations that have saved millions of lives and limbs worldwide.
