Rasipur Krushnaswami Iyer Narayanswami was born 10th
October 1906 Madras and died 13th May 2001 in Chennai . He
was an Indian writer known for his work set in the fictional south
Indian town of Malgudi. He was a leading author of early Indian
literature in English along with Mulk Raj Anand and Raja Rao.
His occupation was a writer . His Gener was fiction mythology
and non- fiction . He was the member of Parliament Rajya Sabha
.

5. ABOUT STORY
An Astrologer’s Day is a thriller suspense short story by
author R. K. Narayan . While it had been published earlier it
was the titular story of Narayans fourth collection of short
stories published in 1947 by Indian thought publications. It
was the first chapter of the world famous collection of
stories Malgudi Days which was later telecasted on television
in 2006 . Theme found in An Astrologer’s Day recur
frequently throughout Narayans works . The story was
adapted into a 2019 Kannada movie.
6. DESCRIPTION OF AN ASTROLOGER’S DAY
The story begins with a description of the Astrologer’s
who is the central character in the story his appearance
his clothes and all the materials he uses to ply his trade
are described. The astrologer who is not given a name
come across as a type one of the many street vendors in
India who sit under the shade of a tree or a temporary
shed and sell anything from vegetables to newspaper.
7. MAIN CHARACTER OF GURU NAYAK
Guru Nayak is introduced merely as an aggressive
stranger who is immediately skeptical of the astrologer
and his supposed wisdom he is standing 6 front of him
due to the darkness of the evening and the paint turban
and long beard that the astrologer wears he does not
recognise his attacker. He eventually bellieves that the
astrologer is a prophet when the astrologer tell him the
specific of his attack and even Guru Nayaks own name.
