Dear Proud Hexawarians!
As we stepped into the New Year with lots of hopes and dreams of being a valued partner to our
customers. We wanted to take a moment to salute to each one of you who have made this quarter an
exciting one for the ES group. Through this quarterly newsletter, we wanted to share our success stories
with others in the organization and recognize the people who stood by their commitments to customers
and made it happen.
We have won 6 new customer logs and have signed up for 10 new business opportunity with our
existing customer. This shows the high level of trust and expectations customers have on us and it’s a
great testimony to our motto of “Passionate Employees to Delighted Customer”. In terms of improv-
ing our positioning in the market, we made our presence felt at HCM Workday sales meet, sponsored
the Oracle HCM world and Innovate 2015 events last quarter. These events helped us in strengthening
our focus on HR space and opened more doors from customer.
It has always been a cat and mouse game between us and our project execution, trying to
achieve the milestones and incessantly sustaining customer confidence at all levels. It was no different
this quarter, We lived up to the expectations of customers by successfully going live with 6 engagements,
Of these 4 were new to Hexaware shores. Our consultants have done wonders for these customers and
they are keen in partnering with us for more opportunities to add value to their core business. With
strong teams from sales, competency and delivery units, we have nurtured a remarkable bond with
customers that will help sustain our growth in years to come, KUDO’s to each one of you who made this
a reality!!!
The magic of success lies in the way we prepare ourselves to meet customer challenges by
constantly endorsing our knowledge through tough certifications programs. So far we as a team have
completed 847 certifications in different disciplines of Enterprise Solution, of these 20 are new
certifications. Hexaware ES team has done wonders because of the people associated with it and the
pride they carry in being part of such a great organization. As we grow, we need more like minded people
to joins us to further improve our customer serviceability. We have been conducting various cross-hire
and skillset hiring campaigns to identify people with right attitude to be trained for skills by our experts,
make use of this opportunity and invite your friends be part of our great success story.
NOW, What’s NEW !, The most hummed word around the IT corridor these days are about cloud.
We have started our journey to become partners in this space by scaling up our cloud based service
offering on Workday, Fusion and Success Factor. Are you cloud Ready !!!, If this is the first time you’re

Hello respected Steering Committee members,
I am delighted to inform you all that PeopleSoft
CRM Production system is live and ready for use.
Below is the link for the production system, which
can be accessed by staff from Marketing,
Recruitment, Admissions and the Call Center in-
side ADU network: http://crmprod.adu.ac.ae. In
the near future we’ll have it published onto the
myadu portal for offsite access.
A lot of tireless effort was put in by the dedicated
teams of the concerned departments and by our
ERP team and the Project team from Hexaware. I
would like to point out that Data Migration was a
tedious exercise but we were successful in mi-
grating 31,973 Contacts, 27,267 Leads and 3,523
opportunities from the Talisma data dump (All
Talisma data validated from cutoff date has been
identified and migrated. Talisma is officially re-
tired.)
Training was completed for all users and updated
training manuals of all the modules were placed on
SharePoint: Training Manuals
Users were advised to contact the Hexaware team
for any support during this week. As of March 1,
our ERP support team will take care of all support
issues while Hexaware will support our ERP team
from offshore.
I would like to thank Mr Charles Diab for his abso-
lute support and praise ADU internal teams from
Admissions, the Call Center, Recruitment, and Mar-
keting for the diligent work, and thank our ERP
team, namely Mr Sherif and Mr Ashar and the
Hexaware project team lead by Mr Sandeep who
were professional, courteous, and accommodating
to ADU throughout the implementation.

DevOps – It’s different!
A developer’s life on any day is not just about coding! You get the latest version of code from the
base-lined repository and start building your changes modifying files, inserting code, building that
in your system, getting unit test done, fixing the issues, wiping that sweat off the brow as you
check in the code. Unfortunately you are not the only developer in the team! All in the team could
overwrite each other’s code and the integration hell starts.
 How many times as a developer you would have prayed you should be the only one
working on the files you touch after checkout?
 How many times as a developer you would have waited for your peer to come and do
code review before you check in the code?
 How many times as a developer, woken up by an operations guy, would have thought
how nice it would be if you could simulate PROD environment in your PC so you know
for sure your code would work well after being deployed in PROD?

testing?

rushing you to clear the testing all test cases in a large test plan fast so the application
goes LIVE as per committed dates?

the weekend?
 How many times as a senior manager you would have liked single place to monitor your
developers, testers, application logs, monitoring reports to be made available to you?

DevOps is one single answer to all these questions!
DevOps sounds like an oxymoron; Development team destabilizes the system by modifying it,
Operations team monitors and so prays for the stability so no issue is reported. In fact DevOps
collaborates teams, develops communication, and enhances product quality and stability using
number of tools available in the market. Most of these tools are open source ones, you like it
better!
DevOps broadly combines two concepts: Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD).
Continuous Integration is a process by which we have the latest working source inte-
grated and made available so the integration issues are nullified.

Continuous Delivery is a process by which we have working application made available with seam-
less releases to the users.
When DevOps is implemented, everyday life in the project would be like this:
Developer checks the work from the ALM tool like JIRA, checks out the code from a source control
tool like SVN, modifies using his development IDE like Visual Studio, feels he got it right, and checks
that in to the source control tool. A Continuous Integration tool, like Jenkins, orchestrates the next
step of building the code using a tool like MS-Build. It also checks for coding standards using tools like
FXCOP, and return the issues to the developer. After successful code review, built assemblies would
be passed to Unit Testing tools like Junit, once the unit testing is passed the code is committed
as baseline and the developers can take that version to build over. So integration issues are reduced
by a large volume and the code quality is assured by this Continuous Integration process. DevOps
is not just about CI (Dev) as it is also about CD (Ops). Once the unit testing is passed, the application is
passed to the next level of automated integration / system testing with the tools like Selenium. Once
the testing is successful, the deployment is made to the PROD. So we don’t wait for weekend for
deployments. Since Deployments are done with shorter changes, rolling them back is also easy.
DevOps is also about provision of environment on the fly with tools like Chef / Puppet, monitoring of
application performance and logs in the PROD environment with tools like Nagios to alert Operations
of potential issues.

SmartWatch At Work
In the last article we showcased the capabilities of google glass and how we
integrated our HR system on Google Glass “HCM GLASS”. Wearable technology tends to be
more sophisticated than hand-held technology on the market today because it can provide
sensory and scanning features not typically seen in mobile and laptop devices, such as
biofeedback and tracking of physiological function. In this edition of newsletter we are
focusing on one of the type of wearables i.e. Smart Watches. We will be showcasing the
capabilities of smartwatches and also what all can be implemented on it from an enterprise
perspective so that the productivity of the enterprise can take a boom.

Wearable Technology
The terms “wearable technology“, “wearable devices“, and “wearables” all refer to
electronic technologies or computers that are incorporated into items of clothing and
accessories which can comfortably be worn on the body. These wearable devices can
perform many of the same computing tasks as mobile phones and laptop computers;
however, in some cases, wearable technology can outperform these hand-held devices
entirely. Generally, wearables will have some form of communications capability and will
allow the wearer access to information in real time. Data-input capabilities are also a feature
of such devices, as is local storage. Examples of wearable devices include watches, glasses,
contact lenses, e-textiles and smart fabrics, headbands, beanies and caps, jewelry such as
rings, bracelets, and hearing aid-like devices that are designed to look like earrings
Smart Watches in Enterprise
Smart watches are digital watches that do more – a lot more – than your old analog
time tracking device. We're not talking about that once-amazing calculator watch that you
had in elementary school. These are full-
fledged digital tools. Smart watches can run
apps and play back all sorts of digital media,
like audio tracks or radio streamed to
Bluetooth headphones. Many of these
watches have touchscreens, which allow
you to access functions like a calculator,
thermometer, compass and more. Most of
the current iterations of smart watches
aren't wholly standalone devices, simply
because they lack an Internet connection.
So many of the watches are designed to link
directly with other devices that do have
Internet connectivity, namely your smartphone. Just as with your smartphone, Internet ac-
cess enables a smart watch with whole world of potential capabilities, like message
notifications, GPS navigation and calendar synchronization. And of course, a Bluetooth
connection to your phone means the watch can help you place calls or send and receive
messages.

You need to install the Approval App for Mobile (This apps are called as Companion Apps as
you cannot install Wear Applications directly, you will need this companions apps to help
you for the same for Android or iPhone) and once you do this, a wear application gets also
installed on your smartwatch (Android Wear, Apple Watch).This App on wear device acts as
a notifying agent when your mobile device is not in your hand.
Once you get any approval notification on your
device (Mobile) this app brings the same
notification on your wear device with an alert sound

the user’s wear device. This helps in preventing user from getting bulk notifications on his
wrist .Instead he will get only those notification which requires immediate response and rest
he can access from the supported device (either his Mobile Phone or Desktop).
