• An Integrated Software Package that provides

BEGINNINGS
• Founded in 1987 by David Duffield & Ken Morris
• Provided HRM, CRM, Financials, Manufacturing, EPM &
Student Admin software solutions
• Acquired another ERP vendor (JD Edwards) in 2003
• PeopleSoft Inc. itself was acquired by Oracle
Corporation in a hostile takeover in 2005
THE ARCHITECTURE
• Called the PIA (Pure Internet Architecture)
• Is completely server-centric
• PIA is Architecture Without A Client
• Consists of 3 Main Portions:
 Web Server
 Application / Business Logic Server
 RDBMS / Database Server

HOW DOES IT WORK?
• The client sends in a request through a browser (using HTTP)
to the Web Server
• The Presentation Relay Servlet (within the Web Server) maps
the data in this request & sends it to the Application Server
for processing
• The Application Server then uses a variety of application
services to process the request and sends the response back
to the PRS
• The PRS maps the response in HTTP form and sends it to the
client from within the Web Server
• All PeopleSoft Application Services use the SQL Access
Manager to access the Database Server
FUTURE WITH ORACLE
• Oracle Corporation is currently putting the
final touches to Oracle Fusion Middleware for
Enterprise Applications.
• Oracle Fusion will comprise of:
 Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise
 Oracle Applications (Oracle Apps)
 Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
