Dr. D Arcy s The Fate Of Irish Culture
By beginning the story with a broader canvas, Joyce was able to connect Gabriel s experience to
the context of Ireland and it s society at the time. His thoughts at the end can be understood in such
a way that they can resonate with the entire nation of Ireland instead of being left at the sadness of
one man. These thoughts are motivated by Mr. D Arcy s singing that evening, and to some level,
Gabriel is contemplating his own mortality. He is also analyzing the fate of Irish cultureby
identifying that it must adapt in order to retain its relevance in a modernizing world despite the
efforts of his aunts.
Joyce describes everything in great detail giving his characters, no matter how small of a role
they play, life and a story; this in turn gives the entire party an air of life and vibrancy. However,
the party takes place in a beyond thoroughly described, old house. Joyce shows off this house with
every detail of its ancient splendor seeming to push it even further into the past just to show that
this way of life no longer fits into the modern Irish society. The detail in which the feast is
portrayed highlights how important food and its traditionality is to Gabriel s aunts in their efforts to
preserve the traditional Irish culture.
Joyce uses subtle detailing to create Gabriel by intensely describing his appearance and
observations. Joyce begins by describing Gabriel s carefully protected patent leather shoes (para.
20) a trend from the continent (para. 44) to show

The Last Emperor
Asian Studies 102
The Last Emperor was a very interesting film, rich in historical truth and an accurate portrayal of
past events that occurred in China during the 1900s. The story was very easy to follow and gave
a more modernized approach to teaching the impacts of historical proceedings by using the English
language but not forgetting to keep the facts in order. This approach gave me the opportunity to
see the different actors as if it were truly identical to what this time period was all about. Given that
the plot was centralized around Puyi, the last Emperor of China, and the director did an excellent
job making the movie fit the timeline. The film moves back and forth from when Puyi was
imprisoned as an older man and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the respect that families had for each other during this time. He greets his mother
for the first time in 7 years and doesn t recognize her face. She then talks of how she is proud of
her son as the Emperor of China. I saw it interesting how ordinary people have to turn away; they
are not allowed to look at the Emperor because he is too important. He seems very harsh and
demanding even at a young age. He tells his brother he cannot wear imperial yellow because it s
only for the emperor. I noticed how woman seem to be treated poorly in this time period.
Puyi s brother explains that he is not the emperor and the real ruler cut off his queue and drives a
vehicle around, referring to the president of the republic of China just on the other side of the
forbidden city. Puyi grows angry and tries to prove to his brother that he is the Emperor by
making his servant drink some sort of paint. He asks the loyal man who gave him the cricket if he
is still the emperor and he explains that he is the emperor only inside the Forbidden City, not the
outside. The film skips ahead to his later years in the detention center. We now find out that the
strict general from the beginning of the movie is actually the governor. He demands that the
prisoners write down their whole life story as a confession. By 1919, China was in turmoil from
corrupt government. The film showed protesters with red sashes in

Coach Chet s Effect On The Greenwave Girls
Chance at Revenge
Being in sports can be both challenging and rewarding at times. Being brutally defeated can
make you feel like you re at rock bottom, while winning a championship game can make you feel
as if you re on the top of the world. This is a story about a basketball team who finally stepped up
to their biggest rival of all, showing the other team and themselves that anything is possible.
The East Grand Forks (EGF) Greenwave Girls basketball team had been playing basketball
together since first grade, plus or minus a few players. The majority of them played for the love
of the game, no matter if they win or lose. They were no all star team that destroyed and
dominated every opponent they took on; just an average team with wins and losses scattered
around the grid. There was one team in particular that the Greenwave girls could never compete
with, and they lived in the same city. The Sacred HeartEagles. Beginning in first grade, this team
had never struggled to beat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their coach was Chet Carnivale. Coach Chet had been making a big impact on the Greenwave
girls. It was late January, early February; the middle of the basketball season, and their record was
22 0. They couldn t believe they were undefeated. Taking on Sacred Heart at 4:30, the Greenwave
girls would compete to win the championship game in the Sacred Heart Tournament. Time had
flown by. The sound of basketballs bouncing and the squeaking of basketball shoes burning
rubber on the floor meant that it was almost game time. The Greenwave girls were extremely
anxious. Coach Chet had sparked a new confidence in them, and their anxiety and fear quickly
turned into anger and determination to give their long time enemy a taste of their own medicine.
Somehow, the fear of destroying their record and losing a chance at revenge still lingered in the
back of their minds. All of a sudden, the ref blew the whistle for the jump

Idealism In Don Quixote
Don Quixote Final Paper
During the Spanish golden era, books about codes of chivalry and true knights errant were
extremely popular and expressed religious values. Religious devoutness has been used to establish
truth and fairness in societies. Don Quixote himself is symbolic of idealistic pursuits, he is not
only seen as a symbol of faith in ideals but always having faith in a religious nature of his own
rational world. In the novel Don Quixote, religion plays a major role in Don Quixote s life because
his religious morals and social codes are what drive him to prove that he is a true knight errant.
Don Quixote s religious beliefs forced himself to perceive the world/society he lives in differently
than those who did not have the same religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, his techniques for achieving and accomplishing these ideals may be proven socially
wrong and law breaking, but his intentions are true.
To further this idea of Don Quixote not minding what people perceive him as, because of his
religious dogma is shown when Don Quixote confesses his love toward Dulcinea del Toboso. As
long as Don Quixote is driven by his religious convection, he will not mind what others think.
Don Quixote is very romantic when he expresses his universal truth to Dulcinea although, people
perceive him as unordinary and mad in nature. For what I want of Dulcinea del Toboso she is as
good as the greatest princess in the land. For not all those poets who praise ladies under names
which they choose so freely, really have such mistresses. I am quite satisfied. . . to imagine and
believe that the good Aldonza Lorenzo is so lovely and virtuous (Cervantes 418). This shows that
Don Quixote s universal love for Dulcinea is true because the actual Dulcinea is a farmer s
daughter but that does not matter to him as long as he imagines her as a princess in every way.
Thus, showing that he does not

My Personal Strengths And Strengths
Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my
strengths, and I ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity,
encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in
these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be
happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want
others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into
encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming
into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking
a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses
me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares
about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically
everything. I loveto laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I ve learned the importance of
laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four
attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love
people. I just want the love that God has given me, to pour out onto others. I want others to know
that I love them. These are my personal strengths

The Post Retirement Benefit of Pension Plans
The Post Retirement Benefit of Pension Plans Marcus Womack Intermediate Accounting II
(ACC 306) Professor Rick Kwan September 29, 2010 There are several different types of
employment compensation. Salaries and wages that people earn while they are working provide
immediate compensation for services provided and are a key factor in managing one s day to
day life. However, there are also various types of compensation that one can earn from
employment after they have retired from a company. The purpose of these post retirement benefits
is to ensure livelihood for a person when they are no longer able to work. A pension is one such
plan. A pension is an arrangement paid in regular installments to provide people with an income
when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The market risk that exists is associated with the changes in the value of investments with the
plans. While both types of plans carry market risks, the risks associated with defined benefit
plans lies on the shoulders of the employer while those associated with defined contribution plans
are assumed by the employee. During periods of economic growth the cost of maintaining a
pension fund decreases due to the rising values of investments. Employers are able to contribute
less and still meet future pension obligations. However, when markets go down the employer has
to contribute more money to the plan to ensure that they are able to pay retirees their promised
funds. Retirees receive the same dollar amount of income regardless of market conditions. With
defined contribution plans the risks and rewards are reversed. Since the retiree both assumes risks
and reaps benefits, periods of economic growth cause the retiree s wealth and income to increase
and negative market changes cause the opposite to occur. Employers have agreed to a fixed amount
and are unable to adjust their contributions downwards. In essence, with this type of pension plan
the employer does not take on the risk of their obligation changing unexpectedly, the pension funds
being inadequate to meet their obligation or any added periodic expense of carrying a pension plan.
Once retirement occurs, the company s

Evolutionary Ideas and the Biblical Concept of Creation
Evolutionary Ideas and the Biblical Concept of Creation
Creation and evolution come from two very different viewpoints. The main differences here are
that in the story of creation in the beginning there was God, and in the theory of evolution in the
beginning there was random chance. The conflict between the two is often referred to as The
Great Debate because everyone asks the question why are we here and how are we here? they can
either look to the bible or science for answers. They are completely unlike answers to one another
but both agree on one thing that the universe has not existed eternally. There are problems with the
bible story of creation in the way that we cannot prove or do ... Show more content on

The biblical creation story believes in a divine Creator. (However, some Christians, regarding the
creation of the world, also believe in evolution. They say that the process of evolution is carried
out by the acts of God). People who believe in biblical creation (creationists) believe that all basic
types of living beings, including man, were made by the acts of God during the creation week
in Genesis in the Bible. Biblical creation is more supernatural than evolution, and is viewed as a
miracle. Creation in the bible was brought about by direct acts of God as opposed to a natural,
gradual process. In the BEGINNING God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
Creation took place in the beginning and was finished and complete it was not spread out over
the long period of time history of the universe. Creation was by the word of the God, the creator
and He spoke things into existence. In Genesis 1 we read of a series of And God said statements.
Also we read in Psalm 33, By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of
them by the breath of his mouth. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Creationists also believe that all geological matter in the world was laid down by a worldwide
flood, as told in the story of Noah, and that life arose

People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay
The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable
to change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter
a child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they
are taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in
some miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their
success than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends,
their teachers, and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can
affect how they learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through
their childhood that affect their learningabilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically
proven to have the most impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and
holding them to a standard that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time
around their children, which means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact.
Parents have the option of being very helpful throughout their child s school years or they can
neglect them and let them figure life out on their own. Parents are the child s first teachers.
Supportive parents help their children with homeworkevery night, putting in as much effort as
possible.

The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey
The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first
rays of sunrise, which shows that God wants Dante to change, Sin is also symbolized through the
three beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better
insight, analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to
understand Dante s journey.
The first rays of sunrise show that God had wanted him to change, so he sent a wake up call to
Dante. With the sunrise shining onto the little hill, the Mount of Joy, Dante found a new
inspiration. He wanted to change his ways and get back onto the True Way that God had intended
for him to be on. Dante realized that no matter what he tried, he couldn t get back on the path of
righteousness by himself. His pathway to righteousness has been blocked by his sins that he has
committed. He tries to get around his sins to righteousness, but he can t do it alone. God sends Virgil
, his Human Reason which helped him understand what he needed to do and how to do it, to help
him get into the True Way that God wanted him to lead his life by. For the final ascent to

and The She Wolf of Incontinence. His sins of malice, fraud, violence, ambition, and lack of self
restraint had become physical. These beasts want him to stay a sinner so they try to push him
back into the Dark Wood of Error. As he tries to fight, he is steadily being pushed into the Dark
Woods. Dante soon realizes that his fighting is futile because he is drowning in his sins. No matter

Cub The Most Beautiful Thing Human Eyes
Cuba
How would you like to travel to the wonderful country of Cuba? Christopher Columbus described it
as the most beautiful thing human eyes have ever seen! Along with its rich culture, Cuba also has
an aggressive history, flat geography, harsh government, rich culture, and a poor economy. First,
Cuba is known for having an aggressive history. During Cuba s beginning, Christopher
Columbus landed in Cuba in 1492. Many years later there was a measles outbreak in 1529 which
killed most of the population at that time. A few hundred years later, Carlos Manuel de
Cespedes led a rebellion to free Cuba in 1868. In 1898 Spain and the U.S. sign the treaty of
Paris. In addition to Cuba s formative years, it has several newsworthy events. Cuba fought
many wars like the ten years wars in 1868 1880 and the Little War in 1879 1880. In 1875 Cuba
ended slavery. Thereafter, Cuba fought for their independence against Spain in 1895 1898. On
October 13th, 1910 a horrible hurricane called the Cyclone of the Five Days, hit the country, and
nine hundred people died. Cuba suffered against another hurricane, Hurricane Flora in 1963 were
1,000 Cubans lost their lives. In 1956, Fidel Castro Ruz launched a revolution from the Sierra
Maestra mountains. The U.S. ended military help to Cuba in 1958, and on New Year s Day
1959, Batista fled into exile and Castro took over the government. During Fidel Castro s

Soviet Union 1984
1984
Big brother is watching you is a famous quote from George Orwell s 1984 (1949). Taking place
in a dystopian world, Orwell created the classical warning of a world without freedom of speech,
where you as an individual must obey the rules of the authorities, otherwise your life was at risk.
Although the book takes place in 1984, it was written in 1949. At the time, the soviet union had it s
rise, with Joseph Stalin as a main character. A man who was and is known for his dictatorship and
inhumane leadership.
The purpose of this analysis is to show how the themes of the novel are loosely based on the events
in the soviet union, and the similarities between the world of big brother and Joseph Stalin s
communistic leadership.
Nobody has ever seen Big Brother. He is a face on the hoardings, a voice on the telescreen. We
may be reasonably sure that he will never die, and there is already considerable uncertainty as to
when he was born. The plot of 1984 is created around the myth of Big Brother. He watches you

Reflection On Winter
Narrative Self Reflection A large purpose of the narrative is to show the change a person must go
through in order to change long term habits, and the setting heavily reflects on that, because both
the character and the setting changed. It is set over the course of a year, which is shown through
lines such as flowers bloom , and it grows colder . It is also shown in the title of each poem, which
both corresponds to the season, and the stage of recovery the main characteris in. These help to
establish the setting, along with specific language choices. In my narrative, I used the metaphors of
different seasons to convey my message. In literature, winter traditionally symbolizes difficulty
and struggle, and it is used in the narrative to convey exactly that. The lines falling into darkness
/ it grows colder are representative of the winter approaching, however, it also acts as a metaphor
for his heart growing colder, and him feeling as if he is falling into darkness, which represents
mystery and fear. The tone of mystery and fear creates a somber mood, because the helplessness
he feels contributes to the fear he faces. The connotations associated with the seasons also apply to
the character. Springtime connotes feelings of rebirth and growth, just as he is growing as a
character. He refers to his family as my light . Light is often connoted with purity and goodness,
and he considers his family to be the light of his life. During the summer, the protagonist describes

What Is Catch Me If You Can Film Techniques
In the film Catch Me If You Can, by Steven Spielberg, Carl Hanratty, is an FBI agent on the chase
for Frank Abagnale Jr. In this scene, he finds out Frank is hiding in a small town in France at a
factory writing himself cheques. He then convinces Frank to handcuff himself and turn himself into
the french officers. During this scene, Spielberg uses four main film techniques to create a theme
and moods. These techniques are, cinematography, editing, colour and lighting, and sound.
Spielberg uses these four techniques to create a mood and build suspense. The use of these
techniques links to the theme that Frank s actions will eventually have consequences because the
director is making the audience believe that Frank could get caught, meaning Frank s actions will
have consequences.
The first film technique spielberg successfully uses is cinematography. Specifically, he uses close

Exporting democracy? Democracy Promotion by the EU and Democratization via Eastern
European Partnership
With the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States and many
other developed countries have begun to pay more attention to their policy of democracy
promotion in the countries of the former communist bloc. As ex President Clinton declared in his
second State of the Union address in 1995, Ultimately, the best strategy to ensure our security and
to build a durable peace is to support the advance of democracy elsewhere followed by his rhetoric,
utopian statement, The world s greatest democracy will lead a whole world of democracies.
Here will be provided a definition of democracy promotion, name of some of the promoters, and list
the goals of democracy promotion.
Do Western democracy promoters seek to protect basic civil and political liberties or do they aim
to promote state interests under the disguise of democracy ?
As a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, new independent states were emerged and it was the
time for the European Union (EU) to stretch towards its eastern neighbor countries in order to build
relationships and bring them closer to the EU by promoting democracy. Alongside with the
democratization of non western countries, the primary goals of the EU was to establish a political
community, to deepen and strengthen free trade zones, and as well as to abolish the visa regime
within those eastern countries. In

Beowulf, An Anglo Saxon Epic Poem
Beowulf, an Anglo Saxon epic poem, contains several rhetorical strategies. The poem follows the
life of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the
poem, Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural
creatures. Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly
written in an elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works
during the Anglo Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble
standing while often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. These traits of Anglo Saxon
writing can undoubtedly be found within Beowulf. Throughout the poem, the author expresses epic
poem traits through the use of rhetorical strategies. The author used literary devices such as
imagery, allusion, metaphors, and tone to express the epic traits of a legendary hero with
significance, a vast setting, and supernatural beings.
Beowulf, the fearless warrior of Geatland, established his role in the novel as the stereotypical
Anglo Saxon main character. Throughout the poem, Beowulf was unconditionally praised by the
people for his valor and strength. He commonly boasted about his fearless characteristics, When it
comes to fighting, I count myself as dangerous any day as Grendel. So it won t be a cutting edge I
ll wield to mow him down, easily as I might, (677 680). In this quote, the author uses the

Leisure Activitie Social Disengagement Theory
Objective The goal of this presentation is for you to understand that leisure programs are not just
about the activity itself, but about the social connections it provides for the attendees. Older age
is a transitional period when people experience changes not only in physical health but also in
social roles that can influence opportunities for social participation. Social connectedness is a key
component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older
adults. Key Messages Social disengagement theory is a classic social psychological view which
holds that older adults isolation results from a gradual and irreversible abandonment of social
roles, narrowing role sets, and the weakening of existing social bonds. This point of view is now
often contrasted with Activity and Continuity theories which note that older adults who adjust to
later life transitions by remaining socially active are happier and healthier. This is an exciting
transition as policies and programs begin to incorporate the idea of social connectedness, rather than
merely occupying the time of older adults. Leisure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relationships, conversations and practicing new and old skills provides cognitive stimulation for
individuals. Leisure programs can also act as a support system for older adults, as well as
provide accountability. For example, many older adults who live alone have poor nutrition
because they do not enjoy eating alone, community dinners provide an opportunity to engage in
conversation, but it also increases the chance of the individual eating a proper and balanced meal.
Additionally, leisure programs can provide resources for individuals to find and receive the care
they need. These positive health outcomes suggest the prevention of social isolation is an important
step in increasing the quality of life of older people and reducing public expenditure on medical
costs for this

Plain and pleasure are a result of modern technology . Usage of cell phones as a boon or a bane ;
the answer lies in our hands! Why mobile phone is a Bane? The other day, my daddy was telling
me his childhood stories. He shared his evergreen memories of having a great time with his
relatives. In the olden days, people used to visit friends and relatives often. But look at about our
generation. How often we get to see our relatives? We just make a phone call to talk to them
instead of visiting. We call our grandparents through phones to check if they are doing okay. We
wish them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year by sending a text message. We are living in a
fast moving world where social life is centered around the mobile phones. Mobile phones are the
No:1 culprit in damaging our social life and family life. People have started Texting instead of
talking and visiting. What more, I have seen people talking through phone to the family
members in the next room instead of just getting up from the chair and walking over there.
Leave aside the social life. Think about the health problems because of excessive use of mobile

which can be absorbed by tissues in your body. The nervous system of children is still developing
and is more vulnerable to factors that may cause cancer. Considering the fact that over 7 billion

Based on theoretical yield calculations, the yield for Benzil at the end of the reaction should be
2.368 grams. However, 2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained, producing a percent yield of
98.31% (see Table 2). Once the crude Benzil was purified, 0.966 grams of purified Benzil
remained. Thus, the percent yield for purified Benzil was 40.79% (see Table 3). The loss of
yield could be due to the washing of the crystals using water before recrystallization. The melting

melting point for Benzil is between 94 95 бµ’C (Pavia et al, 2013; Chemicalland21). Given that the

The Importance Of British Literature
British literature has been a controversial subject for a very long time throughout history. The main
topics of its importance or there lack is one of the most significant debates in today s modern age.
American studies have to this day been about British literature, but is it reasonable that we should
study it? Not only is there a big debate about British literature being taught in America, but more
explicitly being taught in high school. Many literary scholars think that reasons of why or why not
coincide with the two. More scholars lean to the opinion that British literature should not be taught
in high school. Furthermore, educators justify their beliefs, but also give practical, logical, and
useful ideology that supports the theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Adams (2013) The age of chivalry is gone: that of sophisters, economists, and
calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished forever . He said there for
himself that chivalry is no longer relevant, so why should high school student have to learn
about? This goes to prove why British literature should not be taught in high school because
chivalry is a huge component of it and chivalry is dead. In the words of Adams (2013) Chivalry
is best defined as a medieval knightly system, with its religious, moral, and social code . This
means that men should be kind noble and fair to everyone. It is, in reality, a set of moral rules
that one should follow. We hardly ever see any of this in today s society. It is hardly ever that
someone holds the door for another, or helping an elder across the street, or even walking
neighborhood dogs. These examples would be perfect for modern chivalry, but we just don t see it
in our modern world.
A Discussion on Chivalry When discussing medieval chivalry, the topic of modern chivalry
should never arise. Modern chivalry or their lack of is completely and utterly different than that of
medieval chivalry. Chivalry has changed and some may say have died out throughout the ages. It
is an entirely different world that we live in today than that of two thousand years ago. Why should
we discuss it in modern times, if there is no relation to the lack of contemporary

Mentoring Programs And Development Towards Career Goals...
Literature Review Mentoring Programs Face to Face Mentoring Mentoring is a relationship
between a mentor who is a person of more experience and a mentee, a person who needs the
advice and assistance. In our case, the relationship would be built on a mutual desire for
progress and development towards career goals and objectives. This way of mentoring is a
more traditional way in which a face to face meeting is organized to serve the objective. This
method can exist between two people who already know each other and are comfortable with
each other or in a formal mentoring program setting where two people meet for the first time and
to share and direct. This way is extremely effective since both the mentor and the mentee gain
knowledge and experience. The mentor improves their leadership skills while the mentee gains
experience and awareness of a certain matter (Types of mentoring 2016). E mentoring This is a
different approach to mentoring where everything is based off the internet and communicating
through emails, social media and video calls. I believe that the relationship between the mentee
and mentor in this case is not as strong and effective, however people who live in rural areas or
who are too busy, would find it more convenient when they need a mentor. Of course, this method
lacks facial expressions, posture, dress, social status indicators and vocal cues which makes it a less
communicative and operative strategy (Types of mentoring 2016). This method of mentoring

Melting Points Lab Report Essay

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this lab are, as follows; to understand what occurs at the molecular level when a
substance melts; to understand the primary purpose of melting point data; to demonstrate the
technique for obtaining the melting point of an organic substance; and to explain the effect of
impurities on the melting point of a substance. Through the experimentation of three substances,
tetracosane, 1 tetradecanol and a mixture of the two, observations can be made in reference to
melting point concerning polarity, molecular weight and purity of the substance. When comparing
the two substances, it is evident that heavy molecule weight of tetracosane allowed ... Show more

Once the range is obtained, remove the thermometer and beaker. Pour out the hot water and allow
both the thermometer and the beaker to cool. Once cool, repeat the previous steps with the second
compound, tetradecanol. At the conclusion of the second experiment, repeat the steps for a third
and final time using an equal mixture of both compounds. Be sure to record the melting point range
for all three experiments. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius
I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature
melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a
range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to
differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close
enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a
solo identifying property.
Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed
the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were
composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting

correlational study design will allow the researchers to adequately answer the first research
question. The correlational study design allows the researchers to identify and interpret any
correlational trends regarding mental health effects and the success of transitioning amongst the
participants. The dependent variable of the first research question includes the success of
transitioning (employment, education, residential status, and communication after high school)
and mental health (depression/anxiety, sleep, obesity, and physical activity). There is no
independent variable in the first research question due to the correlational design. A between

Women s Struggle Towards Self Emancipation
Throughout Dangarembga s seminal prose novel and BГў s epistolary novel, the authors explore
the omnipresent nature of gender inequality in a society and the inequitable standards of life that all
women have to either endure or reject. Both texts present their protagonists, Tambudzai and
Ramatoulaye one a developing adolescent, the other a widowed mother of twelve, reflecting on the
struggles of being women in their respective patriarchal societies of Zimbabwe and Senegal.
Through an investigation into the social, cultural and psychological contexts, the texts contribute
an understanding into the personal struggles of women through portrayals of the conflicting
tensions between patriarchyand the female autonomy, the significance of female solidarity and the
woman s struggle towards self emancipation and the resulting formation of identity.
Throughout both Nervous Conditions and So Long A Letter, the authors expose the need for
women to secure their own individuality by fighting the subjugation from patriarchal structures. In
Nervous Conditions, through her utilisation of juxtaposition between the characterisation Maiguru

Osteopathic Reflection
Brushing my teeth, I look in the mirror. Aside from the toothpaste making its way through my
beard, I appear to be like any other college student you ll see. I am young, active, a bit stressed at
times, and probably running late to something. It has taken me years to realize, however, that the
reflection I see is unidimensional. The mirror does not reflect who I am: a mosaic of interacting
identities. This emergent property of multidimensional identities may not be reflected in the mirror,
but it is the driving reason behind my decision to pursue medicine.
An expectation of an osteopathic physician is to express empathy for all patients, regardless of
ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or beliefs. As a student volunteer, I traveled to underserved
communities in the Dominican Republic and Panama where I learned that medicine has the power
to unify people, build bridges, and communicate and collaborate across cultures. Though I had
challenged my own sense of reality before, walking in the shoes of patients, many of whom lived in
impoverished conditions, gave me to opportunity to understand just how different two lives can be.
I was able to differentiate between up close empathy and distant sympathy. Despite a language
barrier, I examined and diagnosed at least twenty patients each day, conceptualizing the different
steps a physician must take when interacting with a patient. I am now involved in a student run

The Greek Gods And Its Impact On The Greek Society
The Greek society believed in polytheism. They believed that their were many gods and that each
god has the power to control different aspects of nature. In this paper I will be explaining why
this has come to be. I will also tell you about the fact that no matter what the Greek Gods do it
will affect the Greek Society, and no matter what the Greek Society does it will affect themselves
or the Greek Gods. The Greek Society believes in many Gods. The first one that I will talk about is
Zeus. Zeus is The God of The Sky, Thunder, Lightning, and Justice. Zeus made sure that justice
was always served. So he made sure that there was justice everywhere. And if someone was doing
wrong he would punish them deeply. The next person that I will be talking about is a goddess. Her
name is Hera. Hera is the wife of Zeus. Hara is the goddess of women, marriage, and childbirth.
Hera wanted to keep things they way that they should be and how they started out. She would
stop at nothing to make sure that things were right. Hera wanted all families to be complete. In
her own married life Zeus was cheating on her and she made shore to take care of all the women
he cheated on her with and all of their kids. The next god is Poseidon. Poseidon is the god of the
sea, earthquakes, and horses. He was most known for his three pointed trident. He is one of the
three most powerful gods along with Zeus and Hades. Poseidon rules over the ocean and all bodies
of water. The greek sailors and greek

A.The suggested scenario and the regional tourism toward an integrated rural tourism [Zoneв…
Zone в…ў]
As it was mentioned formerly, the coastal region on the first place is considered as a tourism
region, however; the tourism projects and investments focused in coastline, was what made the
tourism centered only on marine tourism away from the mountainous areas, nature quietness, open
areas as well as archeological sites, such as castle and forts that are scattered along the region,
starting from the coastline and till the mountains, the main reason is due to the unavailability of
touristic infrastructure and the needed services to promote touristic investment in this rural
mountainous area.
That is exactly why the suggested corridor in zoneв… forms a new rural tourism industry, which
will be the main base to find the needed infrastructure through a highway supported by a metro line
as a backbone which forms the main physical structure for the corridor and what comes alongside;

An Everlasting Relationship in Elie WieselВґs Night
Miller Park would need to be filled to capacity 262 times to equal the eleven million total people
that died during the Holocaust. Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and many others were killed for no
other reason than being hated by the Nazis for who they are. In Elie Wiesel s memoir Night, he
tells the petrifying experiences he suffered through that scarred him forever. Some things can never
be unseen, and this was the case for Wiesel. If it were not for his father, his last bit of hope for life
would have been shattered, and he would not have survived. As each horrifying event unfolds at the
concentration camps, the true strength of the relationship between Elie Wieseland his father shows
and progressively gets stronger throughout their time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being able to share this key belief with his father allows their relationship to continue to grow
stronger. As their time in the concentration camp continues, the conditions there worsen. The
prisoners are soon forced into a treacherous forty two mile run in the icy cold, which makes them
struggle between life the death. During this march, one thing keeps Wiesel s will to live alive
and that is his father. This shows one of Wiesel s weakest moments, where he contemplates
giving up numerous times. Exhaustion takes over his body, and the only thing he can think
about is the pleasures that death would bring him. Wiesel s mind overpowers him and he
reflects, Death wrapped itself around me till I was stifled. It stuck to me. I felt that I could
touch it. The idea of dying, of no longer being, began to fascinate me (82). However, his father
needs him, and that is truly what drives him to keep pushing until the end. They stay alive for
each other, which shows how much they really care about the other. While Wiesel rests in the
shed after the run, Rabbi Eliahou, a very well liked man, comes in looking for his son. He and his
son have been sticking together for three years. Wiesel expresses that he has not seen him, without
realizing that this is false. The Rabbi s son purposely left him, to strengthen his own chances of
survival. Wiesel is taken aback by this, and astonishingly begins to pray. He thinks, My God,

Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets
Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets
Introduction
This paper will synthesize the findings from the Cassar and Gibson (2008) study. Analogies and
experiences will also be used to discuss and analyze the study findings. In addition, the relevance of
these findings to the relationship between forecasting methods and budget development will also be
discussed. Finally, this paper will also make recommendations on how organizations may address
the strategic relationship between planning and performance.

In other words, the more complex the product is, the more variables there are to consider in
developing a sales forecast, especially for an organization with a new innovation that has no
product history to use to create forecasts. This is especially true of new products in the
pharmaceutical industry. It is also likely that the additional variables that will be discussed here
were also factors that could have been modified to be included as part of the Australian firms
described above to further analyze the results of each of these organizations in the study in order to
improve forecasting.
Some of the variables that must be considered regarding the pharmaceutical industry might
include consumer awareness of the disease state and the amount of advertising as well as the
number of vendors selling similar items (Cook, 2006). Cost is also a factor, as is the propensity
for a given physician to correctly diagnose the disease state that the product covers. Additional
factors that affect whether a given patient will actually fill the prescription and use the
medication might include the side effect profile as well as the dosing schedule. If the
pharmaceutical is for a child, the taste of the product would also be a factor to consider, as a
competitor may have a better tasting drug that the consumer is more likely to buy in order to
increase compliance despite the better efficacy of the organization s innovation. A weighting

Spiritual Morals In Mere Christianity
My personal testimony is a great indication of spiritual morals in Mere
Christianity. I first came to know Jesus through my grandmother. She is a very strong
Christian and helps me with my faith daily. My personal testimony relates to statements
made by Lewis in Mere Christianity. This wouldn t be true if it wasn t for my
grandmother teaching me about Jesus Christ who died for our sins on the cross.
My grandmother is a very spiritual woman when it comes to the Bible. She told
me that she couldn t do the work for me to get into heaven, only I can do that myself. In
John 14: 6, it says, I am the way and the truth and the life . This means that God is the
only way to heaven. My grandmother also told me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that God loves when we show effort to do what he says. We may not be able to obey Him
al the time because of sin in our hearts and it s apart of our nature. That doesn t mean we
have any excuses still, because we all know the difference between right and wrong.
Jones 2 The fact that I have very strong Christian support in my life is the reason I am
even a Christian and at Curtis Baptist, because it s the best school for me right now.
Even at a young age I was headed down the wrong path, but since I ve came to know
Christ more my life has changed. My family plays a big part in my spiritual progress.
They lead by example and sometimes seeing is better than just hearing all the time from
your pastor. That s what separates disciples from believers because anybody can believe
God s word but it takes a true Christian or follower of God to do what he commands us.
My walk with Christ could be stronger and more disciplined, but sometime

The World Trade Organization Supervises And Administers...
Free trade is a policy in which governments do not pose tariffs or quotas on imports and exports.
Many people believe that free trade leads to better reallocation of the resources and higher level
of customers satisfaction. The World Trade Organization supervises and administers the
international trade and encourages and helps developing agreements and rounds between
countries that lead to trade liberalization. The biggest round within WTO and still in process is
the Doha Round. The purpose of this essay is to explain the purpose behind the Doha Round
negotiations, why the round is difficult to conclude and what the likely consequences are if it
fails. First, it will be explained what is the Doha Development Agenda, when did it start, which
countries are negotiating, what is done by now. Second, some reasons are given on why is the
Doha round difficult to conclude such as the differences in the views and goals between developed
and developing countries. If Doha round fails there will be consequences on the WTO, the free trade
and therefore on most of the countries in the world. At the end there will be some analysis on
whether the Doha round is dead or reborn as the Bali package.
The World Trade Organizationhas 160 countries as members and manages over 95% of the world
trade flows. The WTO is a successor of the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), an
institution founded after the World War II to promote free trade as crucial for economic stability.

The Slavic Women s Farewell By Vasilijagapkin
CONCERT ASSIGNMENT 1
Part 1: Concert Information
1. Ensemble/Performer Name: Wind Symphony
2. Date: 2/7/2018
3. Time: 7:30 pm
4. Location: Popejoy Hall
5. The concert environment was quite new to my experience than movie theaters and other
modern concert (the ones with no seats). The room was as big as the theatre, yet it doesn t stink
like spilled drinks and snacks. I find the concert when it plays the intro very nostalgic as if I was
able to afford the seat in the 1800s. The musical instruments in the concert, of course, were more
realistic than the speakers because I can hear the true work. If I can, I should go to the concert
like this more often and maybe the ones where I can feel classy .

This piece was made in 1912 during the modern era of music by VasilijAgapkin and this was
dedicated to the Slavic women who accompany their husbands in the First Balkan War.The march
was written and premiered inTambov in the end of 1912. The expression layer with the
instrumental has so much Russian pride behind this piece like their anthem. I can imagine the
Russian army women march in this piece during a parade. If women were listening to this in
sensual layer, they would feel strong and determined during exercise. Might be a good motivation
and would make women proud to be women.
In the music layer, many experts will say its genre is march. I have detected one little disjunct out
of the entire piece in the beginning then after, the music one on with conjunct with almost the
same melody. The dynamics from the beginning was forte, then comes mezzo piano, back to
forte, lowers down to mezzo forte, back to forte again, mezzo forte again, and it ended with a
forte. The tempo seems slow according to the Soviet Union from the past between adagio to
adantino. Its form seems to be rondo between some notes of music has been repeated over and

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Valuation, Do...
Devaluations Do they help? Introduction When a country deliberately makes a downward
adjustment to its currency in comparison to that of a different currency or a set of currencies, it
is termed as devaluation. It serves as a monetary tool for the countries that have a fixed exchange
rate or semi fixed exchange rates when compared to other currencies. The decision of devaluation
of the currency is taken by the government that is issuing the currency. Advantages of Devaluation
Firstly, devaluation of the currency leads to the boost of exports. As the exporters find it easier to
sell the goods, it provides them a competitive advantage when compared to other manufacturers
around the world. For understanding this concept better, we take the example of INR v/s $. We
assume that 1$=60INR. An exporter from India sells a product for 10$ in the US market, which

Disadvantages of Devaluation The international investors are the ones who are directly affected by
the devaluation of currency. It causes their total assets in real terms to go down, which means their
confidence level in the country s economy is hit. This causes the withdrawal of the investments in
large amounts. This pressures the buy side which may not be able to match the selloff, causing a
dip in the prices suddenly, which in turn results in the markets tanking. This causes a panic situation
in the markets that the international investors have invested in. Another disadvantage of
devaluation is seen on the debts that the country has taken from foreign resources. The interest
payments on these debts increase as the devalued currency needs the government to pay a higher
amount in their own currency compared to the previous. It even makes the foreign tours of
domestic tourists more

All Men Are Created Equal
In the United States Declaration of Independence, the phrase, All men are created equal is a phrase
people refer to, when dealing with equality in America. A feature through the different selections in
American Dreams is equality because America is a place where everyone has the same opportunity
to achieve anything. Equalityand opportunity given to people has evolved since the founding
fathers, but there s been stages in America s history where equality is only given to specific people,
not everyone. Equality and opportunity are elements in involved in the song, This Land is Your
Land, by Woody Guthrie. Everyone who is born in America has an equal opportunity to do
anything in mind. Woody Guthrie writes, As I was walking that ribbon of highway I saw above
me that endless skyway, I saw below me that golden valleys: This land for you and me (Guthrie
54). In other words, Guthrie said it does not matter what a person s situation may be. Whether a
person is poor or wealthy the opportunity for them to be successful is there for the taking. Despite
a person s background, he or she has the opportunity to have any career or lifestyle he or she
wants. Being born to Mexican parents who do not have any education and work in labor jobs
does not prohibit me from trying to achieve my dreams. The equality given to Americans is the
same, whether a child is born to famous celebrity or to a poor person and should have no effect on
his or her equality with others. If a celebrity

  • 2. Dr. D Arcy s The Fate Of Irish Culture By beginning the story with a broader canvas, Joyce was able to connect Gabriel s experience to the context of Ireland and it s society at the time. His thoughts at the end can be understood in such a way that they can resonate with the entire nation of Ireland instead of being left at the sadness of one man. These thoughts are motivated by Mr. D Arcy s singing that evening, and to some level, Gabriel is contemplating his own mortality. He is also analyzing the fate of Irish cultureby identifying that it must adapt in order to retain its relevance in a modernizing world despite the efforts of his aunts. Joyce describes everything in great detail giving his characters, no matter how small of a role they play, life and a story; this in turn gives the entire party an air of life and vibrancy. However, the party takes place in a beyond thoroughly described, old house. Joyce shows off this house with every detail of its ancient splendor seeming to push it even further into the past just to show that this way of life no longer fits into the modern Irish society. The detail in which the feast is portrayed highlights how important food and its traditionality is to Gabriel s aunts in their efforts to preserve the traditional Irish culture. Joyce uses subtle detailing to create Gabriel by intensely describing his appearance and observations. Joyce begins by describing Gabriel s carefully protected patent leather shoes (para. 20) a trend from the continent (para. 44) to show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Last Emperor Asian Studies 102 The Last Emperor was a very interesting film, rich in historical truth and an accurate portrayal of past events that occurred in China during the 1900s. The story was very easy to follow and gave a more modernized approach to teaching the impacts of historical proceedings by using the English language but not forgetting to keep the facts in order. This approach gave me the opportunity to see the different actors as if it were truly identical to what this time period was all about. Given that the plot was centralized around Puyi, the last Emperor of China, and the director did an excellent job making the movie fit the timeline. The film moves back and forth from when Puyi was imprisoned as an older man and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows the respect that families had for each other during this time. He greets his mother for the first time in 7 years and doesn t recognize her face. She then talks of how she is proud of her son as the Emperor of China. I saw it interesting how ordinary people have to turn away; they are not allowed to look at the Emperor because he is too important. He seems very harsh and demanding even at a young age. He tells his brother he cannot wear imperial yellow because it s only for the emperor. I noticed how woman seem to be treated poorly in this time period. Puyi s brother explains that he is not the emperor and the real ruler cut off his queue and drives a vehicle around, referring to the president of the republic of China just on the other side of the forbidden city. Puyi grows angry and tries to prove to his brother that he is the Emperor by making his servant drink some sort of paint. He asks the loyal man who gave him the cricket if he is still the emperor and he explains that he is the emperor only inside the Forbidden City, not the outside. The film skips ahead to his later years in the detention center. We now find out that the strict general from the beginning of the movie is actually the governor. He demands that the prisoners write down their whole life story as a confession. By 1919, China was in turmoil from corrupt government. The film showed protesters with red sashes in ... • 5. Coach Chet s Effect On The Greenwave Girls Chance at Revenge Being in sports can be both challenging and rewarding at times. Being brutally defeated can make you feel like you re at rock bottom, while winning a championship game can make you feel as if you re on the top of the world. This is a story about a basketball team who finally stepped up to their biggest rival of all, showing the other team and themselves that anything is possible. The East Grand Forks (EGF) Greenwave Girls basketball team had been playing basketball together since first grade, plus or minus a few players. The majority of them played for the love of the game, no matter if they win or lose. They were no all star team that destroyed and dominated every opponent they took on; just an average team with wins and losses scattered around the grid. There was one team in particular that the Greenwave girls could never compete with, and they lived in the same city. The Sacred HeartEagles. Beginning in first grade, this team had never struggled to beat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their coach was Chet Carnivale. Coach Chet had been making a big impact on the Greenwave girls. It was late January, early February; the middle of the basketball season, and their record was 22 0. The sound of basketballs bouncing and the squeaking of basketball shoes burning rubber on the floor meant that it was almost game time. The Greenwave girls were extremely anxious. Coach Chet had sparked a new confidence in them, and their anxiety and fear quickly turned into anger and determination to give their long time enemy a taste of their own medicine. Somehow, the fear of destroying their record and losing a chance at revenge still lingered in the back of their minds. All of a sudden, the ref blew the whistle for the jump ... • 6. Idealism In Don Quixote Don Quixote Final Paper During the Spanish golden era, books about codes of chivalry and true knights errant were extremely popular and expressed religious values. Religious devoutness has been used to establish truth and fairness in societies. Don Quixote himself is symbolic of idealistic pursuits, he is not only seen as a symbol of faith in ideals but always having faith in a religious nature of his own rational world. In the novel Don Quixote, religion plays a major role in Don Quixote s life because his religious morals and social codes are what drive him to prove that he is a true knight errant. However, his techniques for achieving and accomplishing these ideals may be proven socially wrong and law breaking, but his intentions are true. To further this idea of Don Quixote not minding what people perceive him as, because of his religious dogma is shown when Don Quixote confesses his love toward Dulcinea del Toboso. As long as Don Quixote is driven by his religious convection, he will not mind what others think. Don Quixote is very romantic when he expresses his universal truth to Dulcinea although, people perceive him as unordinary and mad in nature. For what I want of Dulcinea del Toboso she is as good as the greatest princess in the land. For not all those poets who praise ladies under names which they choose so freely, really have such mistresses. I am quite satisfied. . . to imagine and believe that the good Aldonza Lorenzo is so lovely and virtuous (Cervantes 418). This shows that Don Quixote s universal love for Dulcinea is true because the actual Dulcinea is a farmer s daughter but that does not matter to him as long as he imagines her as a princess in every way. Thus, showing that he does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Personal Strengths And Strengths Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my strengths, and I ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity, encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically everything. I loveto laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I ve learned the importance of laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love people. I just want the love that God has given me, to pour out onto others. I want others to know that I love them. These are my personal strengths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Post Retirement Benefit of Pension Plans The Post Retirement Benefit of Pension Plans Marcus Womack Intermediate Accounting II (ACC 306) Professor Rick Kwan September 29, 2010 There are several different types of employment compensation. Salaries and wages that people earn while they are working provide immediate compensation for services provided and are a key factor in managing one s day to day life. However, there are also various types of compensation that one can earn from employment after they have retired from a company. The purpose of these post retirement benefits is to ensure livelihood for a person when they are no longer able to work. A pension is one such plan. The market risk that exists is associated with the changes in the value of investments with the plans. While both types of plans carry market risks, the risks associated with defined benefit plans lies on the shoulders of the employer while those associated with defined contribution plans are assumed by the employee. During periods of economic growth the cost of maintaining a pension fund decreases due to the rising values of investments. Employers are able to contribute less and still meet future pension obligations. However, when markets go down the employer has to contribute more money to the plan to ensure that they are able to pay retirees their promised funds. Retirees receive the same dollar amount of income regardless of market conditions. With defined contribution plans the risks and rewards are reversed. Since the retiree both assumes risks and reaps benefits, periods of economic growth cause the retiree s wealth and income to increase and negative market changes cause the opposite to occur. Employers have agreed to a fixed amount and are unable to adjust their contributions downwards. In essence, with this type of pension plan the employer does not take on the risk of their obligation changing unexpectedly, the pension funds being inadequate to meet their obligation or any added periodic expense of carrying a pension plan. Once retirement occurs, the company s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conflict between the two is often referred to as The Great Debate because everyone asks the question why are we here and how are we here? they can either look to the bible or science for answers. (However, some Christians, regarding the creation of the world, also believe in evolution. They say that the process of evolution is carried out by the acts of God). People who believe in biblical creation (creationists) believe that all basic types of living beings, including man, were made by the acts of God during the creation week in Genesis in the Bible. Biblical creation is more supernatural than evolution, and is viewed as a miracle. Creation in the bible was brought about by direct acts of God as opposed to a natural, gradual process. In the BEGINNING God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Creation took place in the beginning and was finished and complete it was not spread out over the long period of time history of the universe. Creation was by the word of the God, the creator and He spoke things into existence. In Genesis 1 we read of a series of And God said statements. Also we read in Psalm 33, By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. People Who Influence Learning The Most Essay The People in a Child s Life who Influence Learning the Most The human brain is most vulnerable to change throughout the early years of a person s life due to its development. The people that enter a child s life can alter their attitude and their effort later on. Most importantly, the skills that they are taught can stick with them until the day they die. Most people in a child s life affect them in some miniscule way and although children never realize it, some people are more crucial to their success than others. Children engage in relationships with their parents, their peers and friends, their teachers, and they take part in their community. Different factors within these relationships can affect how they learn and perform as students. Students encounter many influential people through their childhood that affect their learningabilities and characteristics, but parents are statistically proven to have the most impact on learning by assisting their children with their schoolwork and holding them to a standard that other people abandon. Parents Clearly, parents spend the most time around their children, which means they can have the biggest, beneficial impact or a bad impact. The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first rays of sunrise, which shows that God wants Dante to change, Sin is also symbolized through the three beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better insight, analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to understand Dante s journey. The first rays of sunrise show that God had wanted him to change, so he sent a wake up call to Dante. With the sunrise shining onto the little hill, the Mount of Joy, Dante found a new inspiration. He wanted to change his ways and get back onto the True Way that God had intended for him to be on. Dante realized that no matter what he tried, he couldn t get back on the path of righteousness by himself. His pathway to righteousness has been blocked by his sins that he has committed. Christopher Columbus described it as the most beautiful thing human eyes have ever seen! Along with its rich culture, Cuba also has an aggressive history, flat geography, harsh government, rich culture, and a poor economy. First, Cuba is known for having an aggressive history. During Cuba s beginning, Christopher Columbus landed in Cuba in 1492. Many years later there was a measles outbreak in 1529 which killed most of the population at that time. A few hundred years later, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes led a rebellion to free Cuba in 1868. In 1898 Spain and the U.S. sign the treaty of Paris. In addition to Cuba s formative years, it has several newsworthy events. Cuba fought many wars like the ten years wars in 1868 1880 and the Little War in 1879 1880. In 1875 Cuba ended slavery. Thereafter, Cuba fought for their independence against Spain in 1895 1898. Taking place in a dystopian world, Orwell created the classical warning of a world without freedom of speech, where you as an individual must obey the rules of the authorities, otherwise your life was at risk. Although the book takes place in 1984, it was written in 1949. At the time, the soviet union had it s rise, with Joseph Stalin as a main character. A man who was and is known for his dictatorship and inhumane leadership. The purpose of this analysis is to show how the themes of the novel are loosely based on the events in the soviet union, and the similarities between the world of big brother and Joseph Stalin s communistic leadership. Nobody has ever seen Big Brother. He is a face on the hoardings, a voice on the telescreen. We may be reasonably sure that he will never die, and there is already considerable uncertainty as to when he was born. The plot of 1984 is created around the myth of Big Brother. • 18. Reflection On Winter Narrative Self Reflection A large purpose of the narrative is to show the change a person must go through in order to change long term habits, and the setting heavily reflects on that, because both the character and the setting changed. It is set over the course of a year, which is shown through lines such as flowers bloom , and it grows colder . It is also shown in the title of each poem, which both corresponds to the season, and the stage of recovery the main characteris in. These help to establish the setting, along with specific language choices. In my narrative, I used the metaphors of different seasons to convey my message. In literature, winter traditionally symbolizes difficulty and struggle, and it is used in the narrative to convey exactly that. The lines falling into darkness / it grows colder are representative of the winter approaching, however, it also acts as a metaphor for his heart growing colder, and him feeling as if he is falling into darkness, which represents mystery and fear. The tone of mystery and fear creates a somber mood, because the helplessness he feels contributes to the fear he faces. The connotations associated with the seasons also apply to the character. Springtime connotes feelings of rebirth and growth, just as he is growing as a character. He refers to his family as my light . Light is often connoted with purity and goodness, and he considers his family to be the light of his life. During the summer, the protagonist describes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He then convinces Frank to handcuff himself and turn himself into the french officers. During this scene, Spielberg uses four main film techniques to create a theme and moods. These techniques are, cinematography, editing, colour and lighting, and sound. Spielberg uses these four techniques to create a mood and build suspense. The use of these techniques links to the theme that Frank s actions will eventually have consequences because the director is making the audience believe that Frank could get caught, meaning Frank s actions will have consequences. The first film technique spielberg successfully uses is cinematography. Specifically, he uses close up shots on Frank and Carl s face during their conversation about whether Carl is telling the truth and then swears on his daughter s life. During these close ups, there is a good use of camera movement by zooming even further into their faces. The use of this technique gives a strong effect on the audience by showing the seriousness and emotion in the characters faces. It also shows the tension and suspense in the room. This shows ... The poem follows the life of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the poem, Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural creatures. Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly written in an elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works during the Anglo Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble standing while often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. These traits of Anglo Saxon writing can undoubtedly be found within Beowulf. Throughout the poem, the author expresses epic poem traits through the use of rhetorical strategies. The author used literary devices such as imagery, allusion, metaphors, and tone to express the epic traits of a legendary hero with significance, a vast setting, and supernatural beings. Beowulf, the fearless warrior of Geatland, established his role in the novel as the stereotypical Anglo Saxon main character. Throughout the poem, Beowulf was unconditionally praised by the people for his valor and strength. Leisure Activitie Social Disengagement Theory Objective The goal of this presentation is for you to understand that leisure programs are not just about the activity itself, but about the social connections it provides for the attendees. Older age is a transitional period when people experience changes not only in physical health but also in social roles that can influence opportunities for social participation. Social connectedness is a key component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older adults. Key Messages Social disengagement theory is a classic social psychological view which holds that older adults isolation results from a gradual and irreversible abandonment of social roles, narrowing role sets, and the weakening of existing social bonds. This point of view is now often contrasted with Activity and Continuity theories which note that older adults who adjust to later life transitions by remaining socially active are happier and healthier. This is an exciting transition as policies and programs begin to incorporate the idea of social connectedness, rather than merely occupying the time of older adults. Leisure... This goes to prove why British literature should not be taught in high school because chivalry is a huge component of it and chivalry is dead. In the words of Adams (2013) Chivalry is best defined as a medieval knightly system, with its religious, moral, and social code . This means that men should be kind noble and fair to everyone. Literature Review Mentoring Programs Face to Face Mentoring Mentoring is a relationship between a mentor who is a person of more experience and a mentee, a person who needs the advice and assistance. In our case, the relationship would be built on a mutual desire for progress and development towards career goals and objectives. This way of mentoring is a more traditional way in which a face to face meeting is organized to serve the objective. This method can exist between two people who already know each other and are comfortable with each other or in a formal mentoring program setting where two people meet for the first time and to share and direct. This way is extremely effective since both the mentor and the mentee gain knowledge and experience. The mentor improves their leadership skills while the mentee gains experience and awareness of a certain matter (Types of mentoring 2016). E mentoring This is a different approach to mentoring where everything is based off the internet and communicating through emails, social media and video calls. I believe that the relationship between the mentee and mentor in this case is not as strong and effective, however people who live in rural areas or who are too busy, would find it more convenient when they need a mentor. Of course, this method lacks facial expressions, posture, dress, social status indicators and vocal cues which makes it a less communicative and operative strategy (Types of mentoring 2016). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a solo identifying property. Women s Struggle Towards Self Emancipation Throughout Dangarembga s seminal prose novel and BГў s epistolary novel, the authors explore the omnipresent nature of gender inequality in a society and the inequitable standards of life that all women have to either endure or reject. Both texts present their protagonists, Tambudzai and Ramatoulaye one a developing adolescent, the other a widowed mother of twelve, reflecting on the struggles of being women in their respective patriarchal societies of Zimbabwe and Senegal. Through an investigation into the social, cultural and psychological contexts, the texts contribute an understanding into the personal struggles of women through portrayals of the conflicting tensions between patriarchyand the female autonomy, the significance of female solidarity and the woman s struggle towards self emancipation and the resulting formation of identity. Throughout both Nervous Conditions and So Long A Letter, the authors expose the need for women to secure their own individuality by fighting the subjugation from patriarchal structures. I am young, active, a bit stressed at times, and probably running late to something. It has taken me years to realize, however, that the reflection I see is unidimensional. The mirror does not reflect who I am: a mosaic of interacting identities. This emergent property of multidimensional identities may not be reflected in the mirror, but it is the driving reason behind my decision to pursue medicine. An expectation of an osteopathic physician is to express empathy for all patients, regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or beliefs. As a student volunteer, I traveled to underserved communities in the Dominican Republic and Panama where I learned that medicine has the power to unify people, build bridges, and communicate and collaborate across cultures. Though I had challenged my own sense of reality before, walking in the shoes of patients, many of whom lived in impoverished conditions, gave me to opportunity to understand just how different two lives can be. I was able to differentiate between up close empathy and distant sympathy. Despite a language barrier, I examined and diagnosed at least twenty patients each day, conceptualizing the different steps a physician must take when interacting with a patient. As their time in the concentration camp continues, the conditions there worsen. The prisoners are soon forced into a treacherous forty two mile run in the icy cold, which makes them struggle between life the death. During this march, one thing keeps Wiesel s will to live alive and that is his father. This shows one of Wiesel s weakest moments, where he contemplates giving up numerous times. Exhaustion takes over his body, and the only thing he can think about is the pleasures that death would bring him. Wiesel s mind overpowers him and he reflects, Death wrapped itself around me till I was stifled. It stuck to me. I felt that I could touch it. The idea of dying, of no longer being, began to fascinate me (82). However, his father needs him, and that is truly what drives him to keep pushing until the end. Some of the variables that must be considered regarding the pharmaceutical industry might include consumer awareness of the disease state and the amount of advertising as well as the number of vendors selling similar items (Cook, 2006). Cost is also a factor, as is the propensity for a given physician to correctly diagnose the disease state that the product covers. Additional factors that affect whether a given patient will actually fill the prescription and use the medication might include the side effect profile as well as the dosing schedule. Introduction When a country deliberately makes a downward adjustment to its currency in comparison to that of a different currency or a set of currencies, it is termed as devaluation. It serves as a monetary tool for the countries that have a fixed exchange rate or semi fixed exchange rates when compared to other currencies. The decision of devaluation of the currency is taken by the government that is issuing the currency. Advantages of Devaluation Firstly, devaluation of the currency leads to the boost of exports. As the exporters find it easier to sell the goods, it provides them a competitive advantage when compared to other manufacturers around the world.
