This document discusses designing for user delight by focusing on pleasure, flow, and meaning. It defines each concept and provides examples of how to incorporate them into design. Pleasure involves considering user needs and creating positive emotional responses. Flow involves challenging users' skills in an immersive way that allows mastery. Meaning focuses on connecting users to a purpose greater than themselves. The document cautions that these psychological factors must be authentic to avoid habituation or distraction, and warns that flow could indicate frustration instead of engagement if user control is removed.
This document discusses building a personal brand through education, experience, networking, and marketability. How candy companies can use social media to build business, from New Product Development to retail merchandising. Presented at the 65th annual PCMA Industry Conference, April 2011.
Remote collaboration is becoming more common and powerful due to trends in technology and communities. Cheap computing combined with online communities has enabled new models like crowdsourcing and collaborative filtering. This allows for maximizing participation through niche fulfillment and just-in-time employees. The development of Second Life illustrates how a company was able to collaborate remotely on a large scale. Remote collaboration helps address challenges like unemployment, education, and innovation by allowing people to be smarter together through shared knowledge and learning opportunities online.
The vision of advertising driven by savvy “experts” and their big ideas appears as a romantic memory. Increased consumer expectations, forged in yesterday’s mass media world, eclipse the capacity to artfully deliver results. The digitally connected world we find ourselves in brings new media, communications channels, and technology . . . to embrace, not to fear.
Join this engaging conversation to examine how trends in consumer expectations are increasingly matched to trends in media and technology innovation. Culminating in a case study presented by Nick Primola, SVP Citizens Bank, we examine how mathematics and technology are leveraged to define situational success as customers experience the brand, rather than situation comedy.
Learn how to integrate blogs, podcasts, vidcasts, RSS, Technorati, del.icio.us, Twitter into mainstream public relations practices through a series of lectures, live demonstrations and exercises, case study presentations and discussions. Also learn how to use popular Web 2.0 tools and services to get the job done. Workshop highlights include:
* Blogging – when to comment, when to listen.
* Social networking.
* Podcasts, Webcasts, Vidcasts in online pressrooms.
* The importance of authenticity when joining an online conversation.
* The basics of search engine optimization (SEO).
* The process of matching new media initiatives to objectives.
* The tangible benefits of engaging consumers via social media.

This presentation examines the history and future of social recruiting. The adoption of social recruiting is much slower that the original web. At this point (Jan 2013) we are still experimenting and hoping to discover what works. The future holds a greater emphasis on workflow and measurable results.
This document discusses the importance and value of online communities. It notes that communities allow people to accomplish things collectively that they couldn't alone, and they provide a sense of belonging and responsibility to others. From a product manager's perspective, communities help connect with audiences, build affinity for products, and provide valuable feedback. The document provides tips for building communities, such as giving them space to take root and developing a culture with norms and rules. It stresses adapting products to communities rather than forcing communities to adapt to products.
Some of us will never enjoy walking into a room of strangers and making connections. Does that mean we’re doomed professionally? Not at all!
In this webinar, participants learned about the science behind networking and how that science can help engineers, technologists, and introverts make connections successfully and strategically.
We drew on insights from researchers and practitioners in the social sciences and business to learn about the networking practices of high performers.
We dispelled the myth that people who want strong networks should “never eat alone” and participants learned about the simple actions that significantly contribute to the health of a network.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
In his public lecture, Christian Timmerer provides insights into the fascinating history of video streaming, starting from its humble beginnings before YouTube to the groundbreaking technologies that now dominate platforms like Netflix and ORF ON. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
