The Examination of the Residential School System in...
Education is an essential aspect in our ever changing societies. It is used as a means of transmitting
concepts, knowledge, and values, often to younger generations (Ravelli Webber, 2010). Education
and schooling differ in all societies, varying based on the methods of teaching of different cultural
groups. For instance, Canadian Aboriginal people were taught based on the needs of their
individual families and class. This greatly differed from the European system of education, which
stressed adequate involvement with all of society. Though the Aboriginal manner of education was
efficient and effective, the Europeans wanted to bring a change to their previous practices. As seen
in the film, Education As We See It, European missionaries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As many Aboriginals stood in the way of European economic expansion, Europeans forced the
younger generation of Aboriginals to residential schools. This justified and assisted in their need to
revolutionize former Aboriginal beliefs. More specifically, the correspondence principle identifies
the changes Aboriginal children had to make in school in order to reflect that of the normal
workplace. For instance, certain ideologies were enforced by residential schools. Aboriginal
children were punished if they spoke in their native tongue, as this rule was reflected and followed
in the workplace. With these regulations in place, the Aboriginal culturewas on the verge of
destruction, as it was nearly impossible for any future Aboriginal generations to receive proper
knowledge on their native culture. More generally, conflict theory is based on social inequality,
and it explains how the powerful promote their own interests at the expense of the weak (Ravelli
Webber, 2010). Residential schools signify this notion, as the Aboriginals were mistreated and
abused by the more powerful, prominent religious figures in the school. Overall, the conflict theory
best describes the residential school system, and it correctly identifies how the Aboriginal culture
was destroyed as a result. The residential school system can also be examined using

Depression Symptoms And Treatment Of Depression
If you ve been treated for depression but your symptoms haven t improved, you may have treatment
resistant depression. Taking an antidepressant or going to psychological counseling (psychotherapy)
eases depression symptoms for most people. But with treatment resistant depression, standard
treatments aren t enough. They may not help much at all, or your symptoms may improve, only to
keep coming back. If your primary care doctor prescribed antidepressants and your depression
symptoms continue despite treatment, ask your doctor if he or she can recommend a medical
doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions (psychiatrist). The
psychiatrist will review your medical history and may: Ask about life situations... Show more

For some people, it takes even longer. Increase your dose. Because people respond to medications
differently, you may benefit from a higher dose of medication than is usually prescribed. Ask your
doctor whether this is an option for you don t change your dose on your own. Switch
antidepressants. For a number of people, the first antidepressant tried isn t effective. You may need
to try several before you find one that works for you. Add another type of antidepressant. Your
doctor may prescribe two different classes of antidepressants at the same time. That way they ll
affect a wider range of brain chemicals linked to mood. These chemicals are neurotransmitters that
include dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. Add a medication generally used for another
condition. Your doctor may prescribe a medication that s generally used for another mental or
physical health disorder, along with an antidepressant. This approach, known as augmentation, may
include antipsychotics, mood stabilizers (lithium or anti seizure medications), anti anxiety
medications, thyroid hormone, beta blockers, stimulants or other drugs. Consider the cytochrome
P450 (CYP450) genotyping test. This test checks for specific genes that indicate how well your
body can process (metabolize) a medication. Because of inherited (genetic) traits that cause
variations in certain P450 enzymes, medications may affect each person differently.

Suburban Speck
As time goes by, people spend more and more money on transportation, either on public transit or
on their automobiles. The thing is, as the society develops, there is a phenomenon called suburban
sprawl. This means that as the city grows, more and more people will live farther from work,
causing people to use their gas vehicles for longer periods of time and more frequently, therefore the
cost of transportation starts increasing.
A sustainable transportation system will require a good business relationship between citizens and
the government, as public transport cost put stress on both. This brings an idea from Jeff Speck, a
city planner and urban designer. In Jeff s TED talk, the Walkable City, he took Portland as his
city of choice and illustrated how a sustainable transportation system brings forth sustainable city.
Portland has invested $60 million in bicycling and walking since 1970, which seems like a lot of
money, but it s only $2 million per year, which is half the price it takes to rebuild one cloverleaf of
the city. After Portland citizens started to drive less, they made 3.5 percent more income that year
(Speck, 2013). Portland citizen contributed this 3.5 percent of their income into the local economy;
Portlanders do spend a lot more on all kinds of recreational activities than most other Americans. ...

Reproductive Rights In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
How does a government take away reproductive rights and under what circumstances do they feel
obligated to do so? A government takes away reproductive rights by giving women no ultimate
choice with who they conceive a child with, because of the low birth rates in societies, due to
sterility. The government takes away peoples rights because they need something in return and
would not be able to succeed without enforcing something new. In Margaret Atwood s The
Handmaid s Tale, the government uses the women who had a child in a second marriage, out of
wed lock, or gave their child up for an adoption to overcome the birth rate crisis. The fertile women
of Gilead are given the option between two choices. The first choice is to live a life of servitude...

The population would slowly dwindle down and eventually, nothing would be left. The
government takes away the women s reproductive rights to prevent Gilead from going off the
map and to counteract the decreasing birth rates. Throughout the whole process, the women find
ways of receiving information and communicating with the other Handmaids to prove the
government cannot control every aspect of their lives. Despite what the patriarchy thinks, it
needs the Handmaids. Handmaids are the only hope of children and a family for the
Commanders and their wives. Although the misogynistic society tries to make the Handmaids
feel worthless and unimportant, they are the opposite. Offred and all the other Handmaids are
beautiful and precious. Being able to create a life and carry that life inside of one is riveting and
miraculous. It is what the Handmaids do; it is why they are handpicked. They give birth to
children which in return, gives life to Gilead. Men may rule Gilead; however, the women are in
control. If the selected women would deny the offer, then what would Gilead do? First, they
would kill the chosen Handmaids, who have decided death was far better than living a life of
servitude. By doing so, they would have no women left living, in the community, who are fertile
and able to bear children. The Gilead civilization would be full of unfertile men and women,
leaving too many old people and not enough young people reproducing;

Relationship Between Audiences And Films
Unit 24 Assignment 4
Audiences and Films
The BBFC has commissioned me to undertake research as part of a project to ascertain to what
degree films can be regarded as powerful within contemporary society. In this assignment, I will
comprehensively explain the relationship between audiences and films with well explained
examples. I refer to the different sectors relating to the topic that include the following:
a)active and passive audience models
b)the preferred readings theory
c)reception theory and viewing contexts
d)your own research into the relationship between audiences and films
Active and Passive Audiences
An active audience is the opposite. An active audience can interact with the programme and tell
them their views, and what they would like to see. They can influence the outcome of the whole
show.
A passive audience is an audience that has no influence over the outcome of the programme. They
cannot change it in any way and it is up to the writers to decide what happens and when.
Hypodermic Needle Model
The Hypodermic Needle Theory is one of the oldest in the field of media studies. Also known as the
Magic Bullet Theory, it states that media has a direct, complete and immediate effect on the
audience. The message for the media is directly received and wholly accepted by the user. The
audience is considered to completely passive entities that are left at the mercy of the media. Media
is considered to be super strong with the potential of mesmerizing its

Pascal’s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument
Pascal s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument
Pascal s Wager was a groundbreaking theory posed by the French philosopher, mathematician, and
physicist Blaise Pascal. Pascal, who is said to be the father of modern probability, felt that that
religion should be approached as a gamble. It was one of the first efforts to incorporate the concept
of infinity. The wager stated that, even though the existence of God cannot be determined through
reason, one should wager as though God exists, because living accordingly, has essentially
nothing to lose and experiences can only be beneficial. Pascal s Wager consists of three arguments.
The first is the argument from super dominance. Pascal wrote: God is, or He is not. But to which
side shall we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, he suggests that even if the chance of God existing was a slim one, the reward for
believing is an infinite one (Heaven). Therefore one can conclude that it would just be unwise to
doubt God because one could chance missing out on a substantially enormous reward. Though
Pascal s Wager seems to be a fairly simple concept it has earned many weaknesses, specifically
nine. Most of these stem from the bible, the first being whether believing God is sufficient for
salvation because the bible implies that salvation is dependent on good deeds, baptism,
repentance, etc. There is also the question that involves the matter of which God to believe in.
Christians believe in Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit meanwhile Muslims believe in Allah also,
the Scriptures and the Qur an differ greatly. Additionally, one must ask if human belief matters at
all, and whether heaven really is the ultimate greatness. Perhaps the biggest arguments are
whether one can make themselves believe if they truly are doubtful, and how do we know God s
criteria for salvation? Pascal, himself, would ask whoever is reading his works to analyze his
position and imagine themselves in it. If one truly cannot decide the matter of God s existence,
then a coin toss is the only remaining option. However, placing a wager is an

Social And Social Support And Spirituality
Social Support and Spirituality When using the FICA spiritual History tool (Pulchalski, 2006),
M.L. discussed both spirituality and social support (Appendix H). M.L. considers herself to be
spiritual, but not religious. Being close to nature, her family, and her pets gives her life
meaning. She prays to God, but feels deviated from a church environment and does not want to
belong to a church. She did not want to disclose further information, but summarized her
preferences by having a past of traumatic experiences regarding her family s Catholic following
and her education in a Catholic school environment. Economic Status M.L. recently retired from
her full time job and is living by a pension. M.L. discussed a difficulty with managing her budget
and paying for bills. Most of her pension is used to pay for her mortgage, bills, and other
expenses. M.L. began to express that she has anxiety about paying back her children s student
loans and said she has a lot of debt from educational loans for her children, in addition to other
debts that she owes. She also expressed frustration and explained that she pays for the majority of
her family s bills and her estranged spouse provides minimally for the family. Palta, Financial strain

Essay about John Gotti
John Gotti If ever there was an incubator for crime it was the Italian Harlem tenements of the South
Bronx. In one of those crowded dirty apartments, a young John Gotti seeked an impoverished
existence with his parents and eleven sisters and brothers. His father rarely worked and then, only
at menial jobs, risking the money that the family did have on gambling.
Eventually the family moved to central Brooklyn, which was known as East New York. In East
New York, for a poor boy like John Gotti with nothing in the way of prospects, the Cosa Nostra
represented something to which he could realistic aspire to gain the power and respect he craved.

With both Fatico and Dellacroce in the slammer, John Gotti was handed a lot of new
responsibilities. For one thing, he gained incredible visibility by reporting directly to Carlo Gambino
while Fatico was in jail. Before that opportunity, Carlo did not particularly value Gotti s crowd in
Ozone Park. To the sophisticated Carlo, they were just a bunch of hotheaded thugs. This was a
chance for Gotti to show himself in a different light.
Gotti brought home to the Ozone Park crowd Carlo s prohibition on drug dealing. But the
warnings fell on deaf ears. Many of the men very close to Gotti were dealing and using heroin and
cocaine. But Gotti kept the faith by warning them: If you re dealin, you re f..kin playin with fire,
and if you get caught, you re f..kin dead.
Through Neil Dellacroce, Gotti and his Ozone Park boys had a chance to vastly improve their
status under Carlo. Carlo had lost a nephew in 1973 to a kidnapper who collected the $100K
ransom and then murdered the boy. Gotti was given the opportunity to get revenge for Carlo.
The kidnapper was a man named James McBratney. Gotti, Angelo Ruggiero and another one of
the Bergin soldiers dressed up as cops and shot McBratney in a pub in front of several witnesses.
Angelo was arrested first and later, the police also arrested Gotti for the murder.
Fortunately for Gotti, Carlo gave the McBratney case to his talented lawyer Roy Cohn who was

this may not be the case. Video games are a somewhat recently developed technology that was

sophisticated, leading to new genres and purposes. In recent years, there have been major
advances in not only how video games are played, but also how popular they have come in our

One year my uncle bought me a game named Shadow of the Colossus. This game was completely
different from the other ones I played previously. In this game, the player starts out with the
character on a horse and his only weapon is a powerful sword, that when exposed to sunlight
will lead the player in the general direction of the next enemy. These enemies are giant, ancient
creatures that roam in various places around the world, each one having unique weaknesses and
strengths. To find the Colossus, the player had to ride across the landscape in solitude,
identifying small clues that would lead them to where the creature was hiding. Once the player
arrived, they would have to evaluate the situation and find its weaknesses. When the player
decided that they were ready to attack something unexpected always came up and made the
situation even more difficult than expected resulting in quick and accurate decision making. To
me, this game is a prime example of how video games aid in the development of the decision
making process. Throughout this game players were presented with problems that required them
to think very critically in order to even finish the first battle. As the game progresses the enemies
only get harder and the solutions to the problems get harder as well. Attention to detail in this
game was very important. The more that this game was played, the more I started to look into
every possible approach and the very fine details. Games like

The Navy Marine Mammal Program (NMMP), located in San Diego, California, has been going on

marine mammals, such as their hydrodynamics. By understanding how certain animals maneuver in
the water, perhaps the Navy could improve torpedo, ship and submarine designs (Marine Mammal
Program). The Navy soon realized that dolphins would be valuable assistants to their divers

Benefits Of A Child s Nutrition
Fruits and vegetables have a very essential role in our diet. Studies have shown the importance of
sufficient fruit and vegetable consumption in stopping chronic diseases like cardiovascular
diseases, cancers, diabetes and obesity. According to 2000 report, 2.7 million deaths and 1.8% all
diseases worldwide could be attributed to inadequate F V intake (Najimi, 2013). Starting to eat well
when young is important. Research has proven that interventions at a young age can impact good
behaviorsuch as good nutritional habits that get carried on into adulthood. Furthermore, ages 7 to
12 is when a child should get nutrients for growing. Therefore, the significance of a child s nutrition
becomes more of a need than ever (Najimi, 2013). Examples of the benefits of kids eating healthy
when young are good mental activities, prevention of problems and complications like anaemia,
obesity, digestive disorders, and tooth decay and chronic and dangerous diseases in the long term

Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam
Smith uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism.
Smith explains what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once
thoroughly established, it is but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own
labour can supply. He supplies the far greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the
produce of his own labour, which is over and above his own consumption, for such parts of the
produce of other s men s labour as he has occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or
becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a
commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37).
He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a
dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement
on commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing

Essay The Woman Warrior
The Woman Warrior
Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior discusses her and her mother Brave Orchid s
relationship. On the surface, the two of them seem very different however when one looks below
the surface they are very similar. An example of how they superficially seem different is the
incident at the drug store when Kingston is mortified at what her mother makes her do. Yet, the
ways that they act towards others and themselves exemplifies their similarities at a deeper level.
Kingston gains many things from her mother and becomes who she is because of Brave Orchid,
Rather than denying or suppressing the deeply embedded ambivalence her mother arouses in her,
Kingston unrelentingly evokes the powerful presence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to know why. And you re going to tell me why. You don t see I am trying to help you out,
do you? (Kingston, 180). She acts very strong and overbearing but insists that it is for the girl s
own good. Just as Kingston can demand the sixth grader to speak, Brave Orchid is also seen as
demanding to her children, Brave Orchid can also be admonitory, as she demands that her children
eat, even when they stare in dismay at blood pudding quivering in the middle of the dining table
(Huntley, 87).
Ghosts represent the gulf between Maxine and her mother, the ambiguities in their relationship.
They are ghosts to one another, strangers in some fundamental way, each finding the other
disturbingly incomprehensible (Huntley, 96). In Chinese culture unfamiliar things are referred to
as ghosts. Such simple things in American life are ghosts in Chinese culture such as ghost
teachers, delivery ghosts, and druggist ghosts (Kingston, 169). Kingston is a ghost to her mother
because she is American and not Chinese. Brave Orchid considers Kingston a ghost because she
does not lead her life as Chinese people do even though Brave Orchid is aware that she has grown
up as an American. Brave Orchid is a ghost to Kingston because she has neither become completely
American nor immersed in the American culture. Kingston is embarrassed of the way her mother
acts towards the American

Validity In The Scarlet Letter
Validity of Today s Scarlet Letter Laws
Society has placed a high standard on criminals and judging criminals in a way that might not be
fair to everyone who has committed a crime. Judging people by the crimes they have committed
should be acceptable to a certain extent. In today s society, if a crime has been committed by
someone, they re deemed to be a bad person or a criminal depending on the crime that has been
committed. The level of the crime should have a factor in how the person is punished after, and
how he or she is viewed as a person. Today people are either viewed as a criminal with no hope to
get better or a saint, who is perfect. Scarlet Letter Laws are valid; however, consideration must be
given to the type and nature of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester committed adultery. Hester was branded with her sin, and she was forced to live with the
guilt over her head for the rest of her life. Hester Prynne was now fully sensible of the deep injury
for which she was responsible to this unhappy man, in permitting him to lie for so many years, or,
indeed, for a single moment, at the mercy of one, whose purposes could not be other than
malevolent (Source G). In the novel, the Puritans view Hester as more than just a sinner; she is an
abhorred criminal. She cheated on Chillingsworth with Dimmesdale, and has to live with Pearl
being a consequence of her selfish mistake. Hester s consequence was more than just a
consequence, it was humiliation. Hester shouldn t have to face the embarrassment of her wrong
doings. The Scarlet Letter laws apply to Hester because she is branded with her mistake. She is
humiliated every day for making a simple mistake. Hester s Scarlet Letter was much too harsh for
her mistake.
Rape happens every 4.2 seconds, and a violent crime happens every 26.3 seconds (Source F). The

of temptation is to yield it, and for someone who has that desire in them, like Scott Murphy, it s

The Reconstructive nature of memory Schemas and Stereotypes
The reconstructive nature of memory is related to the schema theory. A schema is a package of
memory that is organized and developed throughout our lives. Schemas are stored in long term
memory. Most people have similar schemas and this was recognized by Bower, Black and Turner
(1979) when they asked several people to recall the schema for the most important things they do
when they go out to a restaurant for a meal. They found out that most people put the same main
aspects in their schemas.
Bartlett s theory of Reconstructive Memory is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some parts of information were forgotten and others were exaggerated.
Bartlett s study showed how our cultural expectations or stereotypes lead to predictable changes in
memory. Stereotypes are schemas that summarize large amounts of information. Like schemas,
stereotypes influence memory. He argued that schemas affect the retrieval process rather than the
initial storage, but a study by Cohen (1981) suggested that schemas and stereotypes are important at
both stages of memory: initial storage and retrieval.
The effects of leading questions
An eyewitness s testimony about an event can be affected by the questions that are asked. For
example, if the experimenter asks, did you see the broken headlight? rather than did you see a
broken headlight? the use of the word the suggests there was a broken headlight and therefore the
participant goes on to build up a memory for that headlight (Loftus and Zanni 1975). The language
used in questioning eyewitnesses may alter what they remember.
Loftus and Palmer (1975) showed their participants a series of projector slides of a multiple car
accident. The participants then answered specific questions. It was found out that the information
implicit in the question affected memory, even though the questions apparently only differed

The Physical Values Of Roger Federer And Ray Ban
Like Roger Federer, they are veterans in their designated field. Simply put, both Federer and Ray
Ban are timeless classics. Federer is arguably one of the most attractive men in all of sports. Of
course this highly relates to his great physical shape and facial features, but it is also about his
class, humbleness, and charm. As mentioned in the audit chart, Federer is considered a great
philanthropist as he has helped many people around the world and even has his own foundation. In
many ways, he can be thought of as the perfect gentleman . The perfect complimenting accessory
for an attractive gentleman such as himself is a classic pair of aviator Ray Ban sunglasses.
Of course, attractiveness is only one part of this equation. As mentioned previously, trustworthiness
may be more important for actual purchase persuasiveness. Federer s credibility adds tremendously
to his trustworthiness. He may not have won a grand slam title in 2015 or 2016 but he was still
ranked in the top 3 in the world, and has a great tract record that has proven his ability to still
compete and dominate. When Federer chooses a brand of sunglasses to wear, consumers can be
confident in his choice. Much like Federer, Ray Ban does not have to prove the value of their
product. They have both been around for a long time, and understand what it means to be great.
Another major reason for I would propose this sponsorship is due to Federer apparently not

the first time. This is how you show respect. This is how you earn respect. Respect is very
important both in the military and in the civilian world. In most cases, people can easily tell
when someone respects them or not. Once they feel that they are being respected, they can
instill more trust into a person, respect them back, and take what the person says to heart. They
can put faith into that person. Once we earn someone s respect, it is much easier to gain his or

put as much effort in to getting them to listen to an order or doing what they are told. Respect
must be EARNED. You must provide someone with your respect before they show you the same

my every day life. I tend towards analysis and evaluation on a daily basis, whether it is in
analysing how I talk to someone, how my sessions with my scout group work or how I use my
reading to increase my vocabulary. The idea of reflective practice in an academic context
however is new to me, and I did feel lost at first. Now I can see how reflecting on my own
learning and experiences has helped me to see where I have improved week on week and I think

more confidence in my ability to teach and I feel that as a result I am learning more. The process

of technology acceptance model (TAM) questionnaires and learning effectiveness by analysis of
covariance of tests in web based problem solving activities (Hsu, 2013). The activities used in this

Ancient Greece s Influence On American Civilization
Greece has drastically influenced American civilization, from the style of warfare, to the styles of

Game Theory Term Insurance Essay examples
Game Theory in Life Insurance
The insurance industry has long been applying game theory to evaluate whether or not individuals
are insurable and determine how much premium to charge them based on their apparent needs. This
interaction between the consumer and the insurance company can be characterized as a game
because not only are they playing against one another but each party is waging on an outcome more
beneficial to them. In a traditional life insurance, there are many variables to consider when utilizing
game theory to form a strategy as there are investment components along with complex riders.

Instead, the presumed opponent is Mother Nature. Professor Marvin D. Troutt, who wrote the
classic work on game theoretical approaches to life insurance purchasing, explains how the
potential consumer is at odds with nature: there is the option of delaying the purchase for a number
of years in the future at the risk that Nature, or chance, will intervene and allow death (or
insurability) to occur before insurance begins (Troutt, 1988).
Using Troutt s model in a normal form matrix below, the buyer has two possible strategies (Insure
and Not Insure) while Mother Nature has two possible strategies (Live and Die). The payoff of
the game is the family s wealth at the end of the year. The payoff matrix looks like this:
Mother Nature
Strategy
Live
Die

Insure
1, 0
1, 0
Not Insure

Figure 1
As the above table is dealing with one s life, it is safe to assume that the game is a one shot,
simultaneous game for the fact that this game is only going to happen once and that the decision
of each player is unknown from the other. In this scenario, the prospective buyer s best strategy (1,
0) for this game is to Insure if Mother Nature chooses Die as highlighted above. This is ideal for
the buyer because this unfortunate incident will generate a payoff to benefit the family based on
the face amount purchased. Two of the

Ethanol as an Alternative Energy Source Essay
Biofuels: Ethanol an Alternative Energy Source
Abstract
In today s society, when someone wants to go to the movies, work, school, library, or mall, they
drive to their destination. The average amount of gasoline consumed per year is about 146 gallons
in the U.S. (Biofuels for Transportation, p1). Discoveries of huge petroleum deposits kept gasoline
cheap for decades and biofuels were forgotten (Leen, p1). However, with the recent oil prices,
along with growing concern of global warming caused by carbon dioxide emissions, biofuel
regained popularity (Leen, p1). Ethanol, a renewable fuel made from plants was added to gasoline
to increase octane and help the engines burn more efficiently and cleanly (West,p1).
Introduction
Ethanol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of the 20th century, Henry Ford planned to fuel his Model T s with ethanol (Leen,
p2). This widely available fuel used in many vehicles on the road including sedans, minivans,
SUVs, pickups and light trucks costs about the same as a gallon of regular gasoline. A gallon of
E85, a fuel mix of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, contains less energy than a gallon of gasoline
(Leen, p2). Although ethanol has lower mileage and requires you to fill your tank more often,
research proves that it is better for our environment. In fact, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, all
recommend ethanol fuels (Leen, p2). Drivers would need more ethanol to drive the same
distance, and ethanol prices are expected to be higher than gasoline prices when and if it is
implemented on a national scale. Drivers of ethanol powered cars may also have to drive further
distances to find a specialized gas station, which offers E85 ethanol (Alternative Energy, p1).
Advantages
One of the advantages of ethanol fuel is its organic origins. In the United States, ethanol is
primarily derived from corn. Since corn and sugar cane are both renewable resources grown by
domestic farmers, the land is known as an advantage (Sunshine, p1). Ethanol burns cleaner than
gasoline, which is another one of the advantages. It does not contain significant amounts of toxic
materials such as lead and benzene (Sunshine, p1). By lowering the amount of greenhouse gases
and ozone created

Pros And Cons Of Thomas More s Utopia
Thomas More s Utopia More s Utopia has upsides and downsides. Though I can t agree with
everything he puts forth, I can say that I would rather live in his Utopia than the other countries he
described. Sadly, some of those negative attributes, found in other countries, are found here in
America. If I could make changes to my own country, some of his Utopian methods would be a
great replacement. His ideascame from a time in history when life was a lot simpler. Had he only
known how much of the unnecessary pleasures this world would indulge in, he would ve had
many more examples of how not to live. Though kings of his time enjoyed their gold,
provocative artwork, and fancy kingdoms, inventions like the iPhone and obscene internet sites
would surely be deemed ridiculous. For starters, his idea of a shorter work day made a lot of
sense. Focus on careers that produce more of what we need and remove those professions that
cater to a tiny percentage of our wealthiest citizens. This would probably take our country back in
time, by removing many services people are used to having in 2017. However, his idea of Utopia
sounds better than living in the present. We have gotten away from what is important in life. The
shorter work day gives us more time to ourselves, more time with family, and would be less
stressful for our bodies and minds. Another reason I would prefer More s Utopia is their idea of
happiness. They get pleasurefrom basic needs being fulfilled. He spoke of

He is a fisherman, who has taught a young man named Manolin how to fish. Presently, he is

with faith, he builds up a christ like figure of himself. Initially, when Santiago tells himself. I am
not good for many turns. Yes your are, he told himself, you re good as ever . In this quotation,
Santiago s doubts diminish when he lets himself know he can endure forever, similar to christ,
he begins to understand the power of faith. Another similarity that Santiago has to Christ is
isolation. They both have a relation to being alone. When santiago realizes that he is isolated, he
struggles with marlin. He worked across the sea and knew how alone he was now . In this
quotation, he alludes the moment where Christ struggles under judgement of God for sin of
man. Christs moment of doubt and isolation, both came when Jesus separated from God, so he
can accept sins of a man like a man. Jesus has to be judged by God because of the sins. Jesus was
not with God for the moment alone. Next, Santiago and Christ refer to cutting useless hands. On

Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson

Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or
any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry
rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish
her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary
genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable
through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and
patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than
her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects
include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and
complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to
record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an
amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are
uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series
of several poems
Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her

Story Of An Hour Love
According to many dictionaries, when looking up the definition of love, you are sure to find
something along the lines of an intense feeling of deep affection. If you were to ask if this were
true, the chances of the answer being no is slim to none. Love is about being with someone no
matter the differences of opinion, through sickness and in health, in the bad times and the good
times. You lovethat person unconditionally and without a shadow of a doubt they are the one
person you want to spend forever with. Although this may be true in some instances, love as
portrayed in The Story of an Hour is unseemly. The idea of love is ironic in this story because of
how ecstatic Mrs. Mallard reacted to what an intensely in love wife would think is heart breaking
news. Mrs. Mallard seemed extremely over joyed and a feeling of freedom consumed her when she
learned of the news. In the short story, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, Mrs. Mallard learns
of news that her husband has died while on the job. Her sister, Josephine, is the teller of the gut
wrenching message while also trying to dance around the cold, hard truth. Along with Josephine

Mallard s epiphany, she began to sort of embrace the death of her husband. She knew that now her
life was indeed hers and there was no one in the way to stop it. In spite of her happiness, she
knew that she would inevitably shed some tears when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in
death; the face that had never looked save with love upon her, fixed and gray and dead (Chopin
p. 525) However, Mrs. Mallard looked past the unpleasant situation and began wishing for time to
dedicate only to herself. This is ironic because most of time when a loved one passes you feel sad

Troy Versus Homers Illiad
TROY VS HOMERS ILIAD
(A comparison between the two with a mix of movie reviewing) by Amber Shepherd
When comparing the movie Troy, directed by Wolfgang Petterson, and The Iliad, written by Greek
poet Homer we can clearly see that although Petterson has made an excellent film he has clearly
left out certain aspects of the Iliad which really define the story.
Both versions portray the Trojan Warbetween Greece and Troy, Achilleskilling Hector and King
Priam visiting Achilles to ask for the body of his son Hector back. However both versions do not
portray accurate versions of the fight between Menelaus and Paris, nor do they correctly explain
why Helen has come to reside in Troy nor does the movie portray the proper burial rights of the ...

Once they land on the shores of Troy, the immediately sack a nearby town which includes a
temple of Apollo and Achilles takes one of the Priestesses, Briseis, as his prize, unbeknown to him
that she is the cousin of Hector and Paris. Agamemnon begins to claim that Briseis was his spoil of
war which angers Achilles to the point in which he vows that one day Agamemnon will fall under
his sword.
We then see a clip of Helen attempting to leave Troy as she believes if she returns to Menelaus it
will prevent more lives from being lost. Hector sees her and persuades her to stay, telling her she
is a princess of Troy now. The next day, Agamemnon as his army march to Troy and demand the
return of Helen or a war would break out. Hector offers up his brother Paris to fight Menelaus in
order to decide who would get to keep Helen. Just before Menelaus can deliver the death blow,
Paris crawls to his brother s feet and hides behind him in cowardice. Hector then delivers the
death blow to Menelaus which sparks of the beginning of the fighting. As the fighting progresses
on the battle field we see clips of Achilles and Briseis and we see that they have begun to fall in
love. Achilles makes plans to return home with Briseis and his beloved cousin Patroclus. As dawn
approaches on the battle field we see Achilles riding into battle which shocks everyone but raises
their spirits,

They Call Me Humor Analysis
They Call Me Professor Humor I possess the character strength of humor because I do not need a
script for a joke and can light up the room with just a few actions. For example, humor can save a
party or even spread happiness and comedy to others as I displayed one time when I was at my
friend s house and I broke out some dance moves which made his day. Humordoes not only apply to
those who are in a time of depression, humor also allows friends to tell stories and talk more freely.
Comedyattracts crowds of people since they want to smile and live their life as happy as
possible. Additionally, humor bodies much more than to make a friend or colleague laugh as I

Lam s Who Will Light Incense When Mother s Gone is an essay that expresses a son s quest for
identity. Andrew Lam is an example of a man who got caught up in the American culture and
unfortunately over time he slowly distanced himself from his Vietnamese roots. Andrew s dilemma
is one that most, if not all families that immigrate to the United Statesface. Lam s motherwould light
incense for the dead and was not sure who would continue to do so when she was gone. His aunt
knew that when die there customs will end on the grounds that the adolescent and fate of the family
don t comprehend the Vietnamese conventions. Lam s mom feels that America has stolen her kids

The older generation such as your parents and grandparents kept the old traditions alive. When
the new generation becomes Americanized they forget where they came from because they feel
its unimportant to them now. Unfortunately, these rituals slowly become lost with each
generation and we can see how Andrew feels guilty for not carrying them on. At one time was
America was unknown to him but since he adapted to the American culture his own native
culture has slowly faded away. Lam relates more to American cultures and American customs
more than his actual Vietnam values. The older generations move to the United States to give
their kids a better life so they can have more than they did as a child and this is a privilege
sometimes people take for granted. Everyone wants to live the American Dream, buy big homes,
fancy cars, get the latest and greatest but it takes a great deal of work. Nothing is given and the
world is so fast paced that we get caught up with technology and high paying jobs just like
Anthony. Humans always want more and more we are never happy with what we

Negligence As A Tort ( Defitions )
1. INTRODUCTION
Tortious liability in negligence is a very amorphous topic which has evolved through many
centuries through different interpretations of case s by the jurist who decided them and tried to
set a guideline for rest of the world to follow them and so as to rights of everyone is enjoyed in an
equal manner without someone suffering because of actions of another s negligent conduct and if
one does suffer then he could have remedy for loss suffered by him. We look into negligenceas a
constituents of torts and how negligence is defined by other jurist in the introduction chapter of this
project. 1.1 NEGLIGENCE AS A TORT (DEFITIONS)
Negligence as a tort is a breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage to the
plaintiff. More elaborate definition of negligence can be A failure to behave with the level of care
that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. The
behaviour usually consists of actions, but can also consist of omissions when there is some duty to
act (e.g., a duty to help victims of one s previous conduct).
According to Swayne J. of United States, Negligence is the failure to do what a reasonable and
prudent person would ordinarily have done under circumstances of the situation.
The Supreme Court of India has also coined a definition in one of its judgement it observed that

Earned Income Tax Case Study
For many years low income families have been stigmatized due programs destined to provide
welfare. Most of the families that are in need of economic support undergo a scrutinized agenda,
which most of the time, question by question undresses recipients by stripping their dignity. In
my childhood we used something similar to food stamps. We were a family of 12 members,
parents and 10 children. I remembered my mother crying full of anger and frustration when the
government sent a letter saying: Your case is under revision. Even if revision looked like a
positive reason (it could mean an increase of benefits), this meant checks would be delayed at least
for two months... Two studies are present in this project. Temporary Assistance for Needy

The rate of participants is high compared with other income support programs. Federal and State
governments are trying to encourage feedback from recipient programs and involvement of
qualified participants. According to Beecroft (2012), the Virginia s IRS has initiated a campaign
to improve outreach to individuals who can benefit from those services. Same program has been
implemented to reach families located in New York and California. The Virginia government
contracted a private agency to prepare mailing notices and perform phone calls to instruct
qualified candidates to use EITC benefits. This study makes two main contributions to existing
research by providing: rigorous evidence on the impacts of low cost outreach for the EITC,
including a simple cost benefit analysis; and more recent estimates of EITC take up rates for
recipients of public assistance, based on accurate data sources. This study also uses large sample
sizes even though they are only for Virginia (a starting population of close to 500,000 households,
including 225,000 EITC eligible households) (Beecroft

School Environment And The Classroom Environment
Do you remember ever as a kid dreading going to school? Somedays you just really didn t feel
like it, but you had to anyway. Now, was it you didn t enjoy school whatsoever, or was it really
the environment they put you in at school? Well, kids today are facing those exact same problems
each day. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their
day is a place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school
environment that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling
them they simply do not wantto work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage
of students where that really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false,
and it is crucial we emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to
have their cell phones in the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of
homeworkkids are being faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety
and stress issues, and the debate about extending the school which would push back students
schedules causing the to get less sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the
morning. To begin, some students and teachers are wishing to bring cell phones into the classroom
more often. They are becoming rather eager to have cell phones be the next step in transforming
our classrooms into techonology

  • 2. The Examination of the Residential School System in... Education is an essential aspect in our ever changing societies. It is used as a means of transmitting concepts, knowledge, and values, often to younger generations (Ravelli Webber, 2010). Education and schooling differ in all societies, varying based on the methods of teaching of different cultural groups. For instance, Canadian Aboriginal people were taught based on the needs of their individual families and class. This greatly differed from the European system of education, which stressed adequate involvement with all of society. Though the Aboriginal manner of education was efficient and effective, the Europeans wanted to bring a change to their previous practices. As many Aboriginals stood in the way of European economic expansion, Europeans forced the younger generation of Aboriginals to residential schools. For instance, certain ideologies were enforced by residential schools. Aboriginal children were punished if they spoke in their native tongue, as this rule was reflected and followed in the workplace. With these regulations in place, the Aboriginal culturewas on the verge of destruction, as it was nearly impossible for any future Aboriginal generations to receive proper knowledge on their native culture. More generally, conflict theory is based on social inequality, and it explains how the powerful promote their own interests at the expense of the weak (Ravelli Webber, 2010). Residential schools signify this notion, as the Aboriginals were mistreated and abused by the more powerful, prominent religious figures in the school. Overall, the conflict theory best describes the residential school system, and it correctly identifies how the Aboriginal culture was destroyed as a result. The residential school system can also be examined using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Suburban Speck As time goes by, people spend more and more money on transportation, either on public transit or on their automobiles. The thing is, as the society develops, there is a phenomenon called suburban sprawl. This means that as the city grows, more and more people will live farther from work, causing people to use their gas vehicles for longer periods of time and more frequently, therefore the cost of transportation starts increasing. A sustainable transportation system will require a good business relationship between citizens and the government, as public transport cost put stress on both. This brings an idea from Jeff Speck, a city planner and urban designer. In Jeff s TED talk, the Walkable City, he took Portland as his city of choice and illustrated how a sustainable transportation system brings forth sustainable city. Portland has invested $60 million in bicycling and walking since 1970, which seems like a lot of money, but it s only $2 million per year, which is half the price it takes to rebuild one cloverleaf of the city. After Portland citizens started to drive less, they made 3.5 percent more income that year (Speck, 2013). • 5. Reproductive Rights In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood How does a government take away reproductive rights and under what circumstances do they feel obligated to do so? A government takes away reproductive rights by giving women no ultimate choice with who they conceive a child with, because of the low birth rates in societies, due to sterility. The government takes away peoples rights because they need something in return and would not be able to succeed without enforcing something new. In Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the government uses the women who had a child in a second marriage, out of wed lock, or gave their child up for an adoption to overcome the birth rate crisis. The fertile women of Gilead are given the option between two choices. The first choice is to live a life of servitude... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite what the patriarchy thinks, it needs the Handmaids. Handmaids are the only hope of children and a family for the Commanders and their wives. Although the misogynistic society tries to make the Handmaids feel worthless and unimportant, they are the opposite. Offred and all the other Handmaids are beautiful and precious. Being able to create a life and carry that life inside of one is riveting and miraculous. It is what the Handmaids do; it is why they are handpicked. They give birth to children which in return, gives life to Gilead. Men may rule Gilead; however, the women are in control. If the selected women would deny the offer, then what would Gilead do? First, they would kill the chosen Handmaids, who have decided death was far better than living a life of servitude. I refer to the different sectors relating to the topic that include the following: a)active and passive audience models b)the preferred readings theory c)reception theory and viewing contexts d)your own research into the relationship between audiences and films Active and Passive Audiences An active audience is the opposite. An active audience can interact with the programme and tell them their views, and what they would like to see. They can influence the outcome of the whole show. A passive audience is an audience that has no influence over the outcome of the programme. They cannot change it in any way and it is up to the writers to decide what happens and when. Pascal’s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument Pascal s Wager vs. the Ontological Argument Pascal s Wager was a groundbreaking theory posed by the French philosopher, mathematician, and physicist Blaise Pascal. Pascal, who is said to be the father of modern probability, felt that that religion should be approached as a gamble. It was one of the first efforts to incorporate the concept of infinity. The wager stated that, even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, one should wager as though God exists, because living accordingly, has essentially nothing to lose and experiences can only be beneficial. Most of these stem from the bible, the first being whether believing God is sufficient for salvation because the bible implies that salvation is dependent on good deeds, baptism, repentance, etc. There is also the question that involves the matter of which God to believe in. Christians believe in Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit meanwhile Muslims believe in Allah also, the Scriptures and the Qur an differ greatly. Additionally, one must ask if human belief matters at all, and whether heaven really is the ultimate greatness. Perhaps the biggest arguments are whether one can make themselves believe if they truly are doubtful, and how do we know God s criteria for salvation? SOCB42 Classical Sociological Theory Professor Daniel Silver TUT0001 TA Katie Stuart Joyce (Fong) Liu 1001717458 Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism. Smith explains what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once thoroughly established, it is but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own labour can supply. He supplies the far greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the produce of his own labour, which is over and above his own consumption, for such parts of the produce of other s men s labour as he has occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37). He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement on commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. Hester shouldn t have to face the embarrassment of her wrong doings. The Scarlet Letter laws apply to Hester because she is branded with her mistake. She is humiliated every day for making a simple mistake. Hester s Scarlet Letter was much too harsh for her mistake. • 24. The Reliability of Eyewitness Testimony Essay The Reliability of Eyewitness Testimony Part 1 How reliable is Eyewitness testimony? The Reconstructive nature of memory Schemas and Stereotypes The reconstructive nature of memory is related to the schema theory. A schema is a package of memory that is organized and developed throughout our lives. Schemas are stored in long term memory. Most people have similar schemas and this was recognized by Bower, Black and Turner (1979) when they asked several people to recall the schema for the most important things they do when they go out to a restaurant for a meal. They found out that most people put the same main aspects in their schemas. Bartlett s theory of Reconstructive Memory is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some parts of information were forgotten and others were exaggerated. Bartlett s study showed how our cultural expectations or stereotypes lead to predictable changes in memory. Stereotypes are schemas that summarize large amounts of information. Like schemas, stereotypes influence memory. He argued that schemas affect the retrieval process rather than the initial storage, but a study by Cohen (1981) suggested that schemas and stereotypes are important at both stages of memory: initial storage and retrieval. The effects of leading questions An eyewitness s testimony about an event can be affected by the questions that are asked. For example, if the experimenter asks, did you see the broken headlight? rather than did you see a broken headlight? the use of the word the suggests there was a broken headlight and therefore the participant goes on to build up a memory for that headlight (Loftus and Zanni 1975). The language used in questioning eyewitnesses may alter what they remember. Loftus and Palmer (1975) showed their participants a series of projector slides of a multiple car accident. The participants then answered specific questions. It was found out that the information implicit in the question affected memory, even though the questions apparently only differed ... Federer is arguably one of the most attractive men in all of sports. Of course this highly relates to his great physical shape and facial features, but it is also about his class, humbleness, and charm. As mentioned in the audit chart, Federer is considered a great philanthropist as he has helped many people around the world and even has his own foundation. In many ways, he can be thought of as the perfect gentleman . The perfect complimenting accessory for an attractive gentleman such as himself is a classic pair of aviator Ray Ban sunglasses. Of course, attractiveness is only one part of this equation. As mentioned previously, trustworthiness may be more important for actual purchase persuasiveness. Federer s credibility adds tremendously to his trustworthiness. He may not have won a grand slam title in 2015 or 2016 but he was still ranked in the top 3 in the world, and has a great tract record that has proven his ability to still compete and dominate. When Federer chooses a brand of sunglasses to wear, consumers can be confident in his choice. Much like Federer, Ray Ban does not have to prove the value of their product. Using Troutt s model in a normal form matrix below, the buyer has two possible strategies (Insure and Not Insure) while Mother Nature has two possible strategies (Live and Die). The payoff of the game is the family s wealth at the end of the year. The payoff matrix looks like this: Mother Nature Strategy Live Die Buyer Insure 1, 0 1, 0 Not Insure 0, 0 1, 0 Figure 1 As the above table is dealing with one s life, it is safe to assume that the game is a one shot, simultaneous game for the fact that this game is only going to happen once and that the decision of each player is unknown from the other. Ethanol as an Alternative Energy Source Essay Biofuels: Ethanol an Alternative Energy Source Abstract In today s society, when someone wants to go to the movies, work, school, library, or mall, they drive to their destination. The average amount of gasoline consumed per year is about 146 gallons in the U.S. (Biofuels for Transportation, p1). Discoveries of huge petroleum deposits kept gasoline cheap for decades and biofuels were forgotten (Leen, p1). However, with the recent oil prices, along with growing concern of global warming caused by carbon dioxide emissions, biofuel regained popularity (Leen, p1). Ethanol, a renewable fuel made from plants was added to gasoline to increase octane and help the engines burn more efficiently and cleanly (West,p1). Introduction Ethanol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the start of the 20th century, Henry Ford planned to fuel his Model T s with ethanol (Leen, p2). This widely available fuel used in many vehicles on the road including sedans, minivans, SUVs, pickups and light trucks costs about the same as a gallon of regular gasoline. A gallon of E85, a fuel mix of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, contains less energy than a gallon of gasoline (Leen, p2). Although ethanol has lower mileage and requires you to fill your tank more often, research proves that it is better for our environment. In fact, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, all recommend ethanol fuels (Leen, p2). Drivers would need more ethanol to drive the same distance, and ethanol prices are expected to be higher than gasoline prices when and if it is implemented on a national scale. Drivers of ethanol powered cars may also have to drive further distances to find a specialized gas station, which offers E85 ethanol (Alternative Energy, p1). Advantages One of the advantages of ethanol fuel is its organic origins. In the United States, ethanol is primarily derived from corn. Since corn and sugar cane are both renewable resources grown by domestic farmers, the land is known as an advantage (Sunshine, p1). Ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline, which is another one of the advantages. It does not contain significant amounts of toxic materials such as lead and benzene (Sunshine, p1). Though I can t agree with everything he puts forth, I can say that I would rather live in his Utopia than the other countries he described. Sadly, some of those negative attributes, found in other countries, are found here in America. If I could make changes to my own country, some of his Utopian methods would be a great replacement. His ideascame from a time in history when life was a lot simpler. Had he only known how much of the unnecessary pleasures this world would indulge in, he would ve had many more examples of how not to live. Though kings of his time enjoyed their gold, provocative artwork, and fancy kingdoms, inventions like the iPhone and obscene internet sites would surely be deemed ridiculous. For starters, his idea of a shorter work day made a lot of sense. Focus on careers that produce more of what we need and remove those professions that cater to a tiny percentage of our wealthiest citizens. This would probably take our country back in time, by removing many services people are used to having in 2017. However, his idea of Utopia sounds better than living in the present. We have gotten away from what is important in life. The shorter work day gives us more time to ourselves, more time with family, and would be less stressful for our bodies and minds. Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson Maheen Chranya English HP E Ratliff April 21, 2015 Term Paper Rough Draft HP: _____________________ Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series of several poems Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her ... If you were to ask if this were true, the chances of the answer being no is slim to none. You lovethat person unconditionally and without a shadow of a doubt they are the one person you want to spend forever with. Although this may be true in some instances, love as portrayed in The Story of an Hour is unseemly. The idea of love is ironic in this story because of how ecstatic Mrs. Mallard reacted to what an intensely in love wife would think is heart breaking news. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their day is a place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school environment that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling them they simply do not wantto work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage of students where that really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false, and it is crucial we emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to have their cell phones in the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of homeworkkids are being faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety and stress issues, and the debate about extending the school which would push back students schedules causing the to get less sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the morning.
