1. How did you hear about BCEC? Please describe any past involvement with BCEC.
I heard about BCEC through Facebook! I saw it on my invites page, and the club looked well suited to my interests, as I have spent the last year and a
half starting to work in the industry, and most likely want to end up working in entertainment back in my hometown of LA.
I haven't had any past involvement, and all I can say is I regret not knowing about this club sooner!
2. Why are you interested in the entertainment industry, specificallyfilm?
My initial interest in entertainment stemmed from the world I grew up in Los Angeles where so many of my neighbors, friend's parents, and just
general social community were involved in all the facets of the industry. As I have gotten older, I have really found an interest in the business behind
film. From film marketing, financing, distribution to studio operations its all so fascinating. This past summer I took a course at UCLA on the
Business of Blockbusters, and I got to see all the business related sides to entrainment, learn about everything from marketing to box office analysis,
and hear from well–qualified and respected professionals from different areas of the entertainment industry.
People gather around entertainment, and everyday people can be overheard talking about their favorites movies of all time, movies they just saw, and

The significant presence of electronic media has gradually become a crisis of society's
problems. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we
are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and
television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by
discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and
education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial
media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on
society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into
a form of show business.
Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect
towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and
instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example,
take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. The

promotional margin of political figures is often taken as a means of self–interest, voting for the
'most–likeable' candidate. Gone are the days of understanding and voting for Republicans or

on social and appearance appeal. Media and technology have become more important in everyday life, so a person may rely heavily on those factors

Movies and television have also contributed to value and personality change in society. Yes, blaming the media for acts of violence cannot entirely be
justified, but it certainly seems to have helped evolve such things. Over the past few decades, movies, television, and even some music have
progressed to an aggressively violent stage. It seems the media often depicts gruesome, dark, and complex images in movies and television. Viewing
movies where innocent individuals are hurt or harmed seem to grow increasingly enjoyable to audiences.
Showing women as "things" and not beings worthy of respect have become trendy in the media as well. Some rap videos, often portray women as
scantily clad and obedient to commands or desires. These kinds of images are degrading to women who have worked to break the glass ceiling in the
business world, and to prove that women can be just as or even more powerful than men can.
The public has become increasingly reliant on the media, so entertainment has had to change with today's society to fit those people's needs and keep
hold of their attention. The
