Specimen of multiple matted lymph nodes

Grey white in colour
Lymph nodes are matted together due to
periadenitis
9. TUBERCULOSIS OF LUNG—
GHON FOCUS
Primary focus in the lung
Soft tissue specimen of lung of size
(17×10×6) cm
showing a solitary whitish area measuring
0.5 x 0.5 cm present in the lower part of
lung peripherally which is known as Ghon
focus.
Can be located in any part of the lung but
more often as a subpleural focus in the
upper part of lower lobe
11. TB Lung—Fibrocaseous Lung

Soft tissue specimen of lung of size (19×15×6) cm
C/S shows→→ a spherical cavity of size
(1.5×1.5×1) cm in the lower part of the upper
lobe with
Cavity has a thick fibrous wall lined by yellowish,
caseous necrotic material.
Lumen of the cavity is traversed by thrombosed
blood vessels
Consolidation seen around the wall of the cavity
Overlying pleura thickened
15. TB KIDNEY
Soft tissue specimen of kidney and ureter
showing multiple chalky white deposits on
the outer cortex of the kidney
The deposits are small in size
19. BENIGN GASTRIC ULCER
Specimen of stomach
E/S – smooth, grey-white
C/S- A round to oval ulcer with punched
out margins seen.
Rugosities are seen to be extending upto
the ulcer margin
Margins of the ulcer are flat and in level
with the surrounding mucosa.
21. TUBERCULAR ULCER
Soft tissue specimen of part of intestine
showing an ulcer with its long axis
transverse to the long axis of the
intestine
Ulcers may be coated with caseous
material.
Serosa may be studded with visible
tubercles
23. TYPHOID ULCER

Base of the ulcer is black due to sloughed
mucosa.
Margins slightly raised due to
inflammatory oedema

C/S – solid, whorl like pattern and slit like

quadrant.
Tumour large, well-circumscribed, rounded
Consistency-soft & fleshy or “brain-like”—
encephaloid carcinoma
Cut section - areas of haemorrhage and
necrosis seen
29. SCIRRHOUS CARCINOMA BREAST
(DUCTAL CARCINOMA NOS)
Specimen of breast with nipple areolar complex.
C/S – shows a irregular growth in the subareolar
region
Overlying skin shows peau d’orange appearance
and retracted nipple
Cut surface – chalky white appearance
Cuts with gritty sensation
33. SQUAMOUS PAPILLOMA
Specimen of skin with a cauliflower like
growth with irregular external surface
Maybe pedunculated or sessile
Pedunculated lesions are composed of a
cluster of finger-like fronds
Sessile lesions—dome-shaped, have a
more nodular, papillary or verrucous
surface
35. VILLOUS PAPILLOMA (URINARY
BLADDER)
Specimen of urinary bladder with a well
demarcated papillary growth located in
the lumen of the urinary bladder
E/S : irregular, growth with papillary
projections
37. MALIGNANT MELANOMA
Specimen of great toe with attached skin,
nail plate and phalanx with blackish
pigmentation on its dorsal and ventral
aspect (probably melanotic pigment)
maybe ulcerated
can arise in an existing nevus
