Past Indefinite : Simple
Definition:
It is used to express an action that is just completed or just happened,
normally a short time before speaking.
Structure:
Subject +Verb – ed or (Second- Form) + Object
Examples:
•I ate my apple.
•He asked me a Question.
•I bought a laptop.
•He applied for job.
•They laughed at the poor.
Past Indefinite : Negative
In the negative sentence there exist not() with the first
form of verb or base form.
Structure:
•Subject + Did + not +Verb(Ist Form) + Object.
Examples:
•He did not find any job.
•He did not apply for job.
•They did not laught at the poor.
•I did not bought a laptop.
•I did not complete my work.
Past Indefinite : Interrogative
In the interrogative sentence the helping verb place
at the begenning of sentence and the sentence end
with ? question mark sign.
Structure:
Did + Subject + Ist form of verb + Object
Examples:
1.Did he buy a camera?
2.Did you watch that movie?
3.Did he find any job?
4.Did I complete my work?
5.Did I eat apple?

Past Continuous/ Progressive: Simple
Definition :
The past continuous is used to mention an ongoing action of the
past.
Structure:
Subject + HelpingVerb (WasWere) +Verb+ing + Object
Note :
• If the subject of sentence is you,they or a plural noun then were will be
used.
• If the subject of sentence is I,He,She or a singular noun then waswill be
used.
Examples:
1.He was waiting for you.
2.They were eating their food.
3.The kids were not playing with toy.
4.I was walking alone.
5.I was planning about my studies.
Past Continuous: Negative
In the negative sentence there exist not() with

occured or compete in past.

oYou had helped him when he needed your help.
oI had visited him.
Past Perfect: Negative
In the negative sentence there exist not() with the first form
