• Many verbs are irregular and don’t end in -ed. (See the irregular verbs list).
• Note how did is used in questions and negative sentences.

3. USE
• The past simple is used to talk about:
-events in the past that are finished.
The presentation took place two weeks ago.
- periods of time in the past that are finished.
Did you spend the whole of last week in Istanbul?
• The past simple is often used with words such as
last (week/month/year), (two days) ago, yesterday and
in (2007/January).
