■ Within the opening scene we establish that there are four characters.
■ They are all wearing the same clothing which suggests they are of same status, or in
the same situation.
■ The way the girls present themselves shaking, in a panicked fashion, suggests they are
scared of something.This is also reinforced by their facial expressions.
■ They don’t have any belongings apart from clothes, not even shoes, suggesting they
are incarcerated somewhere.

■ At the end, the shadow of a large figure is presented as the door opens, the girls faces
of terror also suggest that he was someone they fear.

■ In the opening credits, the scene is set in the woods, it is dark setting that creates an
eerie atmosphere.

abandonment and fear. It also allows us to concentrate on the girls behaviour, to
understand better the storyline.
