2. DEFINITION
 It is used to talk about an action that ended in a time
before the current one.
Both in the interrogative and in the negative form it is
used as an auxiliary DID which is the last form of the
verb "TO DO" and accompanies the main verb in its
infinitive form. In negations the contracted form of
DID NOT or DID NOT can be used.
• Its conjugation that in the Spanish equivalent
to the Preterit Indefinite, where the structure
of the sentence is similar to that of the
Present Simple.

3. USE
The simple past is used to talk about a concrete action
that started and ended in the past.
We use it with adverbs of time like "last year",
"yesterday", "last night" We also use it for repeated or habitual
actions in the past
Example: We always traveled to
Cancun for vacation when we were
young
The simple past is used for a series of actions in the
past.
We use it for narrations or actions from long periods
in the past
It is used to talk about generalities or past events.

4. To form the past of regular verbs
in English we must only add the
suffix -ed or -d if the verb already
ends in "e". Verbs that are spelled
with a single vowel and are
followed by a single consonant
doubles the consonant.
Example: Beg/ begged, smile/
smiled, ask/ asked
Unlike regular verbs, irregular verbs do
not have a past marker that helps to
recognize them. the group of irregular
verbs is composed of a limited number
of verbs (about 350).
Example: Lend/ Lent, have/ had,
begin/ began.

5. Indicates the action performed at a specific moment in the
past.
It has a simple composition of "subject and predicate
verb".
It is the only grammatical time that uses verbs in the
past.
The main verb of prayer is always in the past.
The predicate can be used expressions that determine the
time of the sentence, although it will always be the verb that
indicates whether the sentence is or is not in the past tense.
