Cloud Computing Stats - Cloud in the EnterpriseRapidScale
Individuals and small businesses have been quick to board the cloud computing train. Enterprises, on the other hand, have lagged a bit behind. However, it seems that big businesses are finally finding their way to the cloud.
Here are some statistics about cloud in the enterprise today.
Multitenant, Dedicated or Hybrid - Which cloud to choose?RapidScale
With the increased consideration of the cloud, many organizations are deciding how to best integrate it into their business.
There are three main forms of cloud computing: public, private and hybrid. When considering the move, you shouldn’t just pick one of these at random. The choice should be strategic, based on the characteristics of your business. Each cloud model is best suited for certain types of organizations and needs, so picking the wrong one could backfire.
Cloud computing can probably make the biggest impact in the SMB segment. Why? Because traditionally, these businesses haven’t been able to afford the same services and resources that large companies use, limiting their capabilities. Now, thanks to the cloud, businesses of all sizes can take advantage of world-class IT resources.
Here are some statistics about how cloud is benefitting SMBs today.
Modernization doesn't happen overnight. But by reassessing your existing IT portfolio, including infrastructure and applications, as well as your current processes and roles, you can better understand how you can leverage cloud technologies to deliver value faster.
Microsoft Services offers an end-to-end approach to modernization and DevOps. Our goal is to help you transform your environment so you can deliver continuous value. We’ve built our approach based on experience with thousands of customers, as well as our own transformation journey.
RapidScale's CloudRecovery service is about planning and designing your business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) around each application. We provide cost effective high density and low density storage and complete Disaster Recovery as a Service solutions for automatic failover.
Disaster Recovery as a Service works by first securely safeguarding your data in our Cloud. Our recovery and de-duplication testing allows us to have the fastest Recovery Time Objective (RTO) in the industry, Our Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions will secure your business data and ensure minimal downtime in the event of a disaster. Keep your business applications and data safe and accessible at all times with RapidScale's CloudRecovery.
RapidScale's Tier 3, Class 1 data centers feature on-premises security guards, an exterior security system, biometric systems, and continuous digital surveillance and recording. We meet and exceed standards such as HIPAA, PCI compliance, and the majority of other government security standards.
Replication to cloud virtual machines can be used to protect both cloud and on-premises production instances. In other words, replication is suitable for both cloud-VM-to-cloud-VM and on-premises-to-cloud-VM data protection. For applications that require aggressive RTO and recovery point objectives (RPOs), as well as application awareness, replication is the data movement option of choice.
Traditional disaster recovery solutions are expensive and inefficient. With the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry, you do not need to let a low budget get in the way of safeguarding and recovering your data. You do not have to be an enterprise-size business to receive the cloud’s protection effectively.
RapidScale helps to eliminate upfront costs while saving money on pricey equipment and maintenance with CloudRecovery. With our pay-as-you-go plan, pay for what you use and experience a service that is scalable according to your needs.
RapidScale's CloudIntelligence team will listen to your business needs and design the right Disaster Recovery as a Service plan for your business. RapidScale offers a 100% uptime guarantee.
Our Cloud Recovery product set is backed by one of the most advanced Storage Area Network systems in the industry, NetApp. With its own proprietary file system and fiber channel network, our SAN’s offer some of the best performance and redundancy available. Our RAID configurations ensure a fault tolerance of no less than two disks which offers one of the highest levels of availability while still offering blazing performance. After failing over to the cloud, you will wonder why you hadn't migrated sooner.
CloudOffice is a secure all-in-one solution set combining RapidScale’s four core products and services: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), Desktop as a Service (DaaS), and Hosted Microsoft Exchange.
We can package your business applications and add them to your CloudOffice. Your employees will be working in an enterprise-grade environment that is controlled and monitored 24x7x365. Additionally, all your data will be backed up in the cloud securely. With RapidScale's CloudOffice, you will have solutions that support collaboration and mobile workforces from any device, with any app, anywhere. It is the future of IT.
Microsoft Office 2010 offers flexible and powerful new ways to deliver your best work - at the office, at home, or at school.
Hosted Exchange enables you to communicate using business-grade email while eliminating the need to upgrade and maintain a physical Exchange server. Archiving and encryption services are available for compliance and security purposes. Tailor your solutions based on your unique needs and ensure that your communications are always available. You remain in control.
Unlike many competitive products, CloudOffice was built on a multi-tenanted Geo Load Balanced Active/Active architecture. This unique design offers several benefits to its end users but most importantly means that customers’ virtual environments are built redundantly upon one another creating the ultimate design in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.
RapidScale's consistent hardware refresh cycles ensure that customers’ applications are running on reliable maintained equipment at all times. Services are built in geographically redundant data centers, so if a primary site goes offline, the secondary site will initiate and users will be routed to that site. CloudOffice is a reliable and secure way to store data and clients will experience the latest technology with exceptional data protection.
RapidScale's CloudOffice product replaces a client’s physical IT infrastructure by moving all the customer applications to the Cloud. This eliminates the need for the client’s IT team to maintain and support the physical hardware. This will also minimize the workload on the customer’s finance department regarding the procurement of IT hardware and associated maintenance contracts.
At the infrastructure level, CloudOffice is fully backed by Active Directory architecture to simplify the deployment of user accounts. With our front-end control panel, even non-technical clerical and HR workers have the ability to easily spin up user accounts and provision users with a Desktop, Mailbox, Applications, and File Permissions in one fluid and smooth process using a “next, next, finish” procedure. Built on the same technology as our CloudDesktop platform, rich HD graphics and a seamless end user experience are just a few of the front facing benefits of our CloudOffice product offering.

A cloud service is any service made available to users on demand via the Internet from a cloud computing provider s servers. They are designed to provide easy, scalable access to applications, resources and services, and are fully managed by a cloud services provider. The objective of this template is to provide enterprise grade cloud infrastructure products to organizations of all types and sizes and provide solutions to customer problems by determining the challenges faced by them. We have covered the company overview wherein we have shared the companys background, key statistics, services offered, milestones, management team. Furthermore, we have determined the customer s cloud journey with our company in a timeline format. The need for cloud services by customers, characteristics and benefits of the company s cloud computing, competitive landscape, challenges faced by the customer along with the solution to overcome such challenges, and additional benefits that a customer can get are also focused on this template. Different types of cloud services are offered such as private, public, hybrid, and multi cloud. Furthermore, various types of models offered are SaaS Software as a Service, PaaS Platform as a Service, IaaS Infrastructure as a Service along with their pricing. We have also focused on the measurable impact of cloud services in the business such as company growth, efficient process, operational costs, IT spending, etc. The reasons why a customer must choose the company and clients testimonial are also shared in this template. https://bit.ly/2ZyVOOd
Even as enterprise IT shops are deploying private clouds to increase agility and reduce costs, they are also increasing the number of workloads being run in public clouds in order to meet the dynamic needs of the business. This means that the role of “cloud broker” is now part of the CIO’s strategic posture as a partner with the business.

The 2016 State of Cloud IT Report by BetterCloud
The Cloud Changes Everything
Work as we know it is transforming. Today, all businesses are technology enabled, regardless of size, industry, or location. But merely using technology no longer guarantees you remain competitive. As digital natives flood the global workforce, businesses are met with a decision: resist new norms or provide the latest technology to their employees.
We are in the midst of a technological shift not seen since the launch of Microsoft Office and the invention of the Internet. The world of IT is at a tipping point, and at the center are IT professionals experiencing once-in-a-career shifts in their roles and responsibilities. For years, IT has been mischaracterized as solely an internal support team; if something breaks, IT is there with the fix. In 2016, IT professionals are beginning to offload their routine work to cloud software and service providers, giving them more time to focus on strategic work.
The skills required to be a successful IT professional in the modern, cloud-first workplace are far different than they once were. Cloud IT is coming of age, and it’s going to affect every organization and IT professional in the world, much faster than you think.
Business and IT leaders are understandably reluctant to retire considerable, legacy investment in technology, people, and processes due to security, risk, and regulatory compliance obligations. This creates a hybrid IT deployment model: an on-premise landscape of existing or legacy systems and off-premise cloud deployment of suitable IT capability.
The ODCA believes that integration of cloud deployments with enterprise landscapes should consider people, process, technology, and operating models. Doing so encourages faster cloud adoption, leverages existing enterprise investments in IT landscape and helps govern safe cloud adoption through effective risk and compliance management.

Cloud software is offered to customers via the Internet on a pay-as-you-go basis. It’s extremely popular today, with most people using it daily without even realizing it. And this simple model leads to countless benefits for businesses and consumers alike.
Cloud Computing Stats - The Internet of ThingsRapidScale
The Internet of Things (IoT) is all about connecting devices and objects through the Internet. It’s a giant network of connected “things,” including people, creating relationships between people-to-people, people-to-things, and things-to-things.
Here are some statistics about the Internet of Things.
This infographic compares the 2015 service reliability of cloud computing's biggest players, including Google, Amazon and Microsoft. It covers downtime in hours and the amount of outages that occurred in 2015, with data from CloudHarmony.
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS - these are terms you may have heard, but do you know the difference? Understanding the cloud stack is an important step in transitioning to the cloud.
Disaster Recovery vs. Business ContinuityRapidScale
Are these the same things? Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity are stemmed from the same general idea: in the event of a disaster, keep the business running as quickly and as seamlessly as possible.
However, Disaster Recovery is a reactive solution and Business Continuity is a proactive solution for businesses.
The hospitality industry has never before had a solid, scalable solution that helps businesses avoid spending too much initially on equipment that soon becomes inadequate.
Our solutions provide an agile computing environment, providing services that can be quickly changed to adapt to the needs of hospitality providers.
Cloud Computing Stats - Cloud for RetailRapidScale
As with most other industries, cloud computing is creating new opportunities for retailers. Retailers place a lot of importance on reputation and customer perception - both of which can be positively maintained with the cloud. Here are some statistics about how cloud is impacting retail today.
[Infographic] Questions for a Weatherman and a GeekRapidScale
We revamped one of our first infographics to better answer the question: what's the difference between a cloud and the cloud, anyway? We asked two cloud experts, a weatherman and a computer geek, to shed some light.
Countless studies have shown that cloud security is the major factor standing in the way of cloud adoption. Security is all-encompassing, referring to physical and network security, as well as compliance.
However, security in the cloud has finally turned a corner. Just as some companies currently have better in-house security than others, some cloud providers view security as a larger priority than others. What do we have to say about security? In cloud we trust!
Cloud Computing Stats - Cloud for HealthcareRapidScale
Security concerns are especially prevalent in the healthcare industry, and understandably so, due to its sensitive, private patient data. In the past, the industry has let innovation pass it by due to these worries, but today, the cloud is ready! As cloud security strengthens, healthcare can finally take advantage of the efficiency and cost savings of the cloud.
Here are some statistics about how cloud is affecting healthcare today.
Cloud computing presents many opportunities to boost productivity in an organization, ultimately saving time, money and energy. This characteristic of the cloud helps bring organizations into the future of technology while allowing them to focus on running their business.
RapidScale's Secure Messaging is a secure enhancement to business-class email, not a replacement. It is an addition to your current email, enabling business users to securely send, receive, track and control email communications on any device, simply and effectively.
With today’s evolving technological landscape, chances are you’ve heard of the term “cloud.” You may have even wondered why anyone would be talking about the weather along with computing infrastructures and data centers. Although the popularity of the cloud has gradually risen, there are many people who still don’t know exactly what it is.
The cloud is the general term for cloud computing, which refers to the use of the Internet to access hosted services or your own applications, storage, servers, and data that are hosted in a remote location. Saving your files to the cloud allows you to access them from anywhere at any time, as long as you have an Internet connection. You have probably been using cloud services or resources for a while without even knowing it. The most common cloud services include Gmail, Dropbox, Google Docs, and even Twitter.
Cloud computing is continuing to gain momentum among businesses and consumers alike. It offers consumers a more convenient way to store and share their files as well as access their data at any time, from anywhere. Businesses are virtualizing corporate desktops in the cloud and have considerably reduced the costs of maintaining their physical IT infrastructures in the process. Cloud services allow for more flexible working practices as well as greater mobility. Accessing your data on any device is safe and secure, and actually gives companies a better way to manage and secure data.
Cloud computing focuses on shared resources within the infrastructure. This means that customers share physical resources while maintaining security by reinforcing their “piece of the pie” with firewalls and virtual security. By focusing on this shared resource methodology, cloud companies can offer incredibly cost-effective rates compared to traditional computing due to the positive economies of scale. The more tenants that occupy a cloud, the more cost effective a solution becomes. The best Cloud providers use this method to offer solutions for a fraction of what they would cost should an organization attempt to do them in-house.
The cloud is quickly becoming commonplace in the world of technology. Its accessibility and convenience are undeniable, and more often than not, businesses and service providers have considered implementing or currently utilize cloud computing.
[Infographic] Cloud Computing for the EnterpriseRapidScale
Individuals and small businesses have been quick to board the cloud computing train. Enterprises, on the other hand, have lagged a bit behind. However, it seems that big businesses are finally finding their way to the cloud, and RapidScale can help with the move.
BYOD addresses the rising need for employees to be mobile and more productive. They will appreciate the ability to customize how and where they work. With a BYOD policy, businesses will rest easier knowing there’s a level of transparency and specific rules to point to when employees have questions. By clearly communicating company BYOD policies, a business will build trust and good rapport with employees while ensuring that company information remains safe.
Thanks to cloud computing, SMBs get access to sophisticated capabilities that are normally reserved for large companies, and they get this for low prices.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

What is CloudServer?
CloudServer eliminates the need to spend capital on upgrading physical hardware and move into an Oper-
ating Expense (OpEx) model. The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud physical infra-
structure but has control over operating systems, storage, and applications.
Virtual servers offer numerous advantages over
physical servers. Manageability of virtual servers is
simpler because you can easily connect to the serv-
er’s console remotely without the need for special
remote access hardware. You can also duplicate
virtual servers and create templates for quick repli-
cation. Lastly, virtual servers all see the same virtual
hardware (except for processors) regardless of the
physical hardware they are hosted on. This ensures
that your applications all run on similar hardware to
eliminate problems that may arise from dissimilar
hardware.
CloudServer has a pay-as-you-go
model which allows you to scale up or
down depending on your needs.
When it comes to pricey hardware, an
organization can save a lot by using
RapidScale’s secure infrastructure and paying for
only what was used. With IaaS an organization can
eliminate the many negative aspects of IT expan-
sion, especially issues with in-house infrastructure,
while still receiving the processing power and stor-
age space that you need to run business-critical
data and applications.

21. What is CloudRecovery?
CloudRecovery is designed to help businesses easily implement cloud storage infrastructures that support
key data protection functionalities such as replication, backup and restore, data archiving, disaster recovery,
data & application mobility, data availability and security, and elastic capacity.
RapidScale's disaster recovery and business conti-
nuity services focus on securing your data and
ensuring minimum downtime. We ensure that in the
event of a disaster your business applications and
data will be safe and accessible. RapidScale's Clou-
dRecovery platform runs on top of our state-of-
the-art secure infrastructure located in data centers
throughout the world.
Replication to cloud virtual machines can be used to
protect both cloud and on-premises production
instances. In other words, replication is suitable for
both virtual-to-virtual and physical-to-virtual data
protection. For applications that require an aggres-
sive Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
and Recovery Point Objective (RPO),
as well as application awareness, rep-
lication is the data movement option
of choice.
Adding CloudStorage to a Disaster Recovery
bundle can provide adaptive data storage that
expands in real time to accommodate the amount
of data inside. Organizations are able to take advan-
tage of the simplicity of predefined storage policies,
control distribution of data, and access their data
around the clock. All backed by a 100% service
level agreement.

Peace of Mind
RapidScale’s Disaster Recovery as a Service works by first securely safeguarding your data in the cloud.
RapidScale's annual recovery testing deduplication allows the fasted RTO in the industry. Depending on
an organization’s needs, RapidScale's recovery options can have a business back up and running in just
a few hours. RapidScale's solutions will secure your business data and ensure minimal downtime in the
event of a disaster, keeping your business applications and data safe and accessible at all times.
Business Continuity with Failover
RapidScale's premier disaster recovery and business continuity product, CloudRecovery with failover,
equips customers with the tools they need to ensure their mission-critical applications are available to their
users during any type of crisis — floods, fires, power loss, server failures, rogue employees, etc. — that
can occur at the customer’s premises. Failover can bring an organization back online within a matter of
minutes in the event of a
disaster. Perfect for busi-
ness-critical data and appli-
cations, failover makes
business continuity accessi-
ble for organizations of any
size. CloudRecovery is
backed by one of the most
advanced Storage Area
Network systems in the
industry, NetApp. With its
own proprietary file system
and fiber channel network,
our SANs offer some of the
best performance and
redundancy available. Rap-
idScale's RAID configurations ensure a fault tolerance of no less than two disks, which offers one of the
highest levels of availability while still offering blazing performance. After failing over to the cloud, you will
wonder why you hadn’t migrated sooner.
Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) provides businesses with critical storage-based replication and
recovery within a RapidScale, client, or partner managed cloud environment. Companies that are affected
by natural disasters or server failure lose business-critical revenue. In addition to revenue loss, many
reports state that companies that experience downtime are more likely to go out of business than
companies that have a DR plan in place.

26. The customer is a dental
practice management com-
pany with over 40 locations
across the United States in
Florida, Virginia, Arizona and
California. The company acquires, develops, ren-
ovates, consolidates and partners with dental
practices through its integrated dental care de-
livery systems. The company, with 250+ employ-
ees, had the majority of its business relying on
its ERP/medical applications running on an MSP
based in a single data center. When the compa-
ny acquires new practices, it has to add the new
office into the current email and back-office envi-
Pain Points
The MSP couldn’t handle the growth from an infrastructure
and policy perspective to go along with the numerous out-
ages based on policies and limitations within the current
environment. Since the organization was expanding across
the US, the dental practice needed a uniform infrastructure
and policies for future growth with a limited IT staff.
The dental practice management company wanted a dy-
namic solution that could expand and deploy quickly, and
wanted to know what the OpEx would be every time a new
office was added.
Opportunity
After being introduced to the opportunity through a sales
partner, RapidScale’s team of experts analyzed the cus-
tomer’s needs. The dental practice management company
wanted a dynamic solution that could expand and deploy
quickly. The client also wanted to know what the OpEx
would be every time a new office was added. RapidScale
was asked to evaluate the environment and build a
Solution
RapidScale presented the customer with a solution to ad-
dress their pain points. After evaluating, RapidScale com-
partmentalized the infrastructure into five parts: email, IaaS,
failover, virtual desktops, and policies/procedures. Rapid-
Scale upgraded th client’s email to CloudMail (Exchange
2013, and put in a migration plan for the 250+ employees.
After the email migration, the cloud provider mapped a plan
for a migration of the infrastructure to CloudServer with
CloudDesktop (virtual desktops). RapidScale then worked
with the client’s IT team to identify which applications and
servers needed high availability for CloudRecovery with
Failover and built out a replication environment in a sec-
ondary data center. Once that was stood up, RapidScale
helped build out new policies and procedures to use going
forward so any future acquisitions would go smooth.
The client can now take advantage of a scalable environ-
ment for future acquisitions and a stable environment with
failover. The IT team knows the exact cost of each new
employee coming on board, and is able to make quicker
decisions.

27. The customer is a regional law firm lo-
cated in three states, with 150 employ-
ees and is headquartered in Mobile, Al-
abama. The client was in the process of
splitting away from its parent company.
Upon split-ting away from the parent company, the law firm
was deeply unsat-isfied with support and performance of
their infrastructure. Its core line-of-business application was
TrialWorks, a case management software system. Further-
more, they were hosting their production in-frastructure out
of a local data center with a local MSP.
Pain Points
One of the largest pain points for the customer was due to
losing their prior MSP partner. During the split from their par-
ent company, the customer was forced to take on support
of their own infrastructure. This caused numerous issues
due to the level of support and lack of ability to be reactive.
They wanted full management, similar to what they already
experienced with the MSP, as well as a similar back-end,
patching, and updates. These were the key drivers in the
law firm’s transition.
Opportunity
The law firm reached out to their trusted technology consul-
tant with the request to explore options for a cloud solution.
After being introduced to the opportunity, RapidScale’s
team of experts analyzed the customer’s needs. The team
put together a cloud solution to resolve performance and
support issues, as well as provide cost efficiency and reli-
ability. RapidScale was able to present a similar, and famil-
iar, solution to what the law firm had in place, but complete
with full management and support.
Solution
RapidScale presented the client with a solution to address
their pain points, proposing its Infrastructure as a Service
solution, CloudServer. RapidScale was able to provide the
law firm a similar solution to the one they had prior to the
transition, which was a terminal server environment. While
their new cloud environment was similar to their one prior, it
boasted one major improvement. RapidScale included their
world-class full management and 24x7x365 support, which
was what the law firm had been missing. RapidScale’s
management is unique in that it provides the customer with
not just any-day, any-time support, but also complete man-
agement and monitoring of the customer’s systems includ-
ing patching, updates, upgrades, and much more.
RapidScale’s CloudServer is extremely scalable, allow-
ing the law firm to be reactive as it experiences business
changes. The law firm was also able to continue using its
core line-of-business application, TrialWorks, in their new
cloud environment.
Finally, RapidScale also provided the customer with our
Hosted Exchange offering, CloudMail, and the complete
Microsoft Office Suite.

28. The customer is a large hospice located in Florida, with
400 client terminals across its head office and 12 branch-
es. The hospice needed to support its end users and
manage the business effectively. Based on this need, it
became clearly necessary that the client either contracted with a com-
pany to handle after hours end-user support, or brought in a managed
cloud provider that could handle the entire desktop experience.
Pain Points
The hospice needed a higher level of security and a tech-
nology refresh. It lacked the advanced engineering skill sets
to address these needs. Additionally, its company Help
Desk solution was in-house and needed to be outsourced.
The client also lacked a true management and tracking sys-
tem. Business users were not receiving quick, efficient, or
reliable service.
On-site resources at remote locations needed to be coor-
dinated by a single organization that would set priorities,
manage tickets, and assist with managing OEM’s like hard-
ware manufacturers. All activities surrounding the desktop
experience and the client’s private network needed to be
monitored and managed around the clock. Without all of
these activities, end users throughout the organization
would experience degradation in their ability to be produc-
tive because of the state of their technology tools and sys-
tems.
Opportunity
After being introduced to the opportunity through a sales
partner, RapidScale’s team of experts analyzed the cus-
tomer’s needs. The cloud provider was tasked with devel-
oping a process in order to operate IT efficiently and effec-
tively. RapidScale worked closely with the COO and IT team
to develop a plan for transitioning services and supporting
end users.
Solution
RapidScale presented the customer with a solution to ad-
dress their pain points, proposing CloudDesktop as the fi-
nal product. The hospice moved its 400 client terminals,
located across its head office and 12 branches, to Rapid-
Scale’s highly scalable CloudDesktop platform. Now, the
hospice can provide its staff and contractors with the most
advanced and secure Desktop as a Service platform, with
quality appli-cation performance and support.
Large Hospice
29. A part of the hospice’s efforts to refresh its desktop solu-
tion, it decided to implement this service to reduce desktop
management costs and prolong the user-terminal device
life cycle. The new DaaS was built in a private environment
to assure HIPAA compliance, too.
A Help Desk solution was implemented, enabling the hos-
pice to have a single point of integration for support issues.
All incoming calls were handled with defined processes,
issues were tracked, and on-site resources were dispatch
to address desktop issues. The solution streamlined order
management, trouble ticketing, and the support system for
end users.
The benefit of this transition was application security, per-
formance and support. The revamped, cutting-edge plat-
form has boosted the hospice’s ability to improve employee
productivity and workload efficiency, and a empower a true
mobile workforce. By monitoring all activities in a quanti-
tative fashion, RapidScale was able to reduce the overall
cost of support activity. The hospice continues to use Rap-
idScale as their single point of integration, and views the
cloud provider as the true solutions partner that was need-
ed to maintain compliance and manage IT costs effectively.

30. The client is a large lumber manufacturing company
based in New York that was established in 1890.
The manufacturer has 21 locations throughout the
Northeast. The organization was on a 420-user
desktop platform with IBM and the environment
was managed by an MSP. The client also had multiple in-house servers
that they were struggling to manage while scaling and growing at a rapid
pace. The manufacturer has a limited IT staff and desperately wanted
to offload as many workloads as possible to enable the staff to leverage
technology and drive innovation and revenue.
Pain Points
The client had multiple vendors that each managed a por-
tion of the environment, which was tedious and caused
frustration because many of the tasks and projects were not
being completed in a timely fashion or at all. In fact, the or-
ganization received very limited and time-delayed support,
with some tickets taking a week or more to be addressed.
The manufacturer also had a $180,000 licensing spend due
in January that they did not prefer to spend capital on. The
organization was struggling with nagging technical issues
with the Citrix desktops, primarily due to the MSP not hav-
ing certified Citrix engineers on staff. The client desperately
wanted a partnership and team of professionals that could
accomplish consolidating the infrastructure (POS, server
environment, desktops) and take ownership of the entire IT
footprint, strategy and management.
Opportunity
The sales partner that introduced RapidScale completely
owned a trust-based relationship with the client. That ex-
isting trust allowed RapidScale’s team of cloud experts to
meet with the client in a series of discovery meetings. The
lumber manufacturer wanted to select a cloud provider that
would develop a strategy to operate and manage its IT en-
vironment efficiently and effectively, taking total ownership.
RapidScale’s team worked closely with the organization’s
entire IT staff to develop and plan for the transition of ser-
vices and support of end users.

over the 420 desktops with RapidScale’s CloudDesktop
solution. This very large support pain point was resolved by
RapidScale with its team of on-staff certified Citrix engineers
that the manufacturer now has direct access to. RapidScale
also replaced the majority of existing Microsoft licenses with
SPLA, Office 365, and Citrix licenses that resulted in
$207,000 annual savings. CloudMail also replaced the
client’s existing email service, which consolidated the server
environment by 42%.
The RapidScale solution resolved 100% of the customer’s
pain points, claimed complete ownership of the environ-
ment, and freed the IT team from ongoing, nagging, re-
actionary issues. Instead, the IT team can now focus on
more innovative initiatives and projects that result in driving
profitability for the company.
