Story #3: Falling off that roof
On that clear, cold day in late March, I was up on the roof of my parents’ house wielding my yellow
measuring tape.
Why?
I was trying to help them repair their chimney. It had never worked right—smoke would fill the
basement every time a fire was lit in the fireplace. (Yes, the damper
was open, and there was no blockage in the chimney, either.)
The chimney needed to be extended, so that there would be enough
draft to suck all the smoke out while my folks enjoyed nice, warm,
and cheerful fires—without being smoked out of the house!
When I’d finished taking measurements of the chimney, I
approached to edge of the roof…
…stepped onto the ladder…
…and the next thing I knew, paramedics were cutting my good work coat off of my body—and hauling
me away on a stretcher!
I had managed to fall eight feet onto the gray concrete patio; miraculously, I’d only broken my right
collarbone.

2. For six weeks, I couldn’t help anybody; I had to turn away people who needed help with their machines.
But, it didn’t stop me from climbing ladders, or from repairing people’s machines (once I’d recovered).
Story #4: I’m right in the middle of it!
Let’s fast-forward several years.
I’ve gone into debt to start an online business, for the same reason I saved Butterfly, ran a repair
business, and risked my life on that roof:
I want to help people.
Two days ago, I got my latest credit card statement in the mail. Here’s a screen shot of my online
account:
…And here’s how much money I’ve got left in my bank account:
I’ve only got enough for one more minimum payment.
I’ve hit bottom.
I’m in trouble, again—all because I want to help people.
And, I’M GOING to help people—no matter what the odds are.
I’ve done it again…
And again.

3. And again.
I’m going to help as many people as I can,to get the power to be free to pursue whatever their biggest
dreams are.
