This document discusses parking problems at Ithaca College and proposes solutions. It notes that 93% of students believe parking is a significant problem due to insufficient red spots and lots being too far from academic buildings. A survey found students frustrated by the inconvenience. Short-term, the authors propose reassigning two lots closer to campus for more red spots. Long-term, they suggest a parking garage behind an existing lot to add over 800 spots and better accommodate the college community. Both solutions aim to make parking more accessible and convenient for students.

This project aims to provide Mobile App assisted, smart parking system, fit for usage in smart cities and places with crowded parking facilities. The parking space is watched by an array of cameras (any camera can be used, so using already installed security cameras means that the system, in most cases, won’t require any extra costs) to watch the parking space. A computer vision software will be fed with camera stream and will be able to determine which parking lots are occupied. The info is fed into a database. Users will use a mobile app which connects to the same database to enquiry about available parking slots, this making it easier and faster to find a parking place.

Never stop asking “why” is a cliché in our industry. But for some people, it’s a way of life. Wim talks about what has inspired him throughout his years as a UX Designer and how that has changed his perspective on his daily work and life in general. A personal story about staying curious and always keep questioning yourself and your work.
– Wim is User Experience Designer at Monkeyshot where he has focused mainly on UX strategy and concept development. He likes to look beyond the screen and how that can help shape good and also fun experiences. As an aspiring comedian he has also developed a sixth sense for looking at human behaviour.
In this paper, we present the Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) Security R&D Ecosystem is discussed. The R&D Ecosystem can be divided into four major aspects i.e. academic research, car manufacturers, government authorities, and end users. Each aspect is discussed in detail that we hope may help in successful implementation of VANET.

BUSINESS PROPOSAL 2
Executive Summary
The Temple University should introduce a to set up electric car charging station programs
to make it easier for students to access the car power rather than moving out of the university. It
will lower the time used to go for the charge outside, and instead, they use that time to do other
constructive things. Most Universities have faced the problem of students and instructors moving
out of the university to seek a place to charge their cars. When they access the service quickly in
the university, they fix possible problems that might have occurred in moving out. If Temple
University focuses on developing and implementing an electric car charging station, it will stand
able to support environmental conservation positively and benefits users in several ways. By
accepting the implementation of setting electric car charging stations the university will resolve
the problem of students and lectures using a lot of time going out to recharge their vehicles and
improve environmental conservation (Energy, n.d.).
The electric car charging station can be implemented to operate within nine months. The
program will require a budget of about $4,250 for initial start-up costs in providing installation
tools, required materials, and labour cost (Ference, 2017). However, in other cases, the installation
processes might cost higher than this if the charging point will need major electrical upgrades. The
university can fund the proposal to be refunded after the trial period. If Temple University does
not implement this program, it risks the chance of students and instructors wasting a lot of time,
money to go and purchase the charges outside the university as well as increasing the risk of air
pollution from cars which use diesel. It is essential for the University to understand the primary
benefits of implementing this proposal as it can solve problems within the college and build a
competitive environment.
Problem
New trends in business across the United States and other countries are being implemented
daily to push towards business competitions on different products. The phenomena concerning car
fueling products evolution from the traditional diesel and petrol stations have developed to new
products such as the electric car charging stations which have more benefit to the owners as well
as the general environment (Holland, 2016). In Temple University there is higher congestion for
students and instructors driving out of the school to go and charge their cars outside the University.
It could be beneficial to the university as well as the if the University extends its investments and
come up with the electric car charging st.

As an international student from Kuwait, this is my second semester in the university; the excitement of the first semester is over. I was very excited last semester when I joined. The semester was all about learning and discovering new things about it and also about California. However there are a lot of challenges in every school, country and in every aspect of life. Parking is going to be the biggest challenge in an undergraduates life because of the lack of parking space provided.
Parking spaces provided by universities are often not enough for students. Parking is a nightmare in the school's compound. We pay an amount of money per semester to park our cars, yet the only problem is that it is not available. Either too many students drive to school or the provided parking is not enough. In my university we are provided with three buildings for parking, yet it isn't enough.
Parking may sound very irrelevant back in Kuwait but then here it is a basic life necessity. I have to get to school an hour or two before every class to be able to find a parking and arrive early to class. Unfortunately, the problem is faced by many students and not me alone. Thus, it is difficult to find a spot to park your car once you leave the school grounds. For example, I am always in a dilemma when I forget something in my residence. For instance, on Tuesday I left some researching materials that I was using for my assignment at my residence. I never drove back home, since I had a class at 2 p.m. and by going back this would relinquish me off my parking space. I had to stay at California State University, Fullerton, without the research materials that I needed until my classes were over. Usually, the secret of survival and parking problems for students like me is to get to school on time and get to school very early so as to get parking. The other alternative is for some students who wait near the elevator for other random students and ask to take care of their car while they are in class, however; I cannot trust people I do not know. The reason is that I do not know who those people are, it’s not only risky but also dangerous and risky. They could be serial killers or thugs or just people with a personality problem.
Parking at the University may be unswervingly influenced by scheduling of classes. Parking demand is very high on Mondays all through to Thursdays, from roughly 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The larger issue on campus may be the high number of traffic hours. I have heard the faculty members and students agreeing that parking has gotten enormously worse in the recent years. Students may also be contributing to the parking issue. A while ago, I saw a parking attendant issue three tickets to some students vehicles that were parked in the ‘faculty’ parking lot. I acknowledge having parked many times in the faculty parking lot earlier, but by then I never knew that it w.

3. Why Parking?
It’s a meaningful Issue
It affects a large portion of IC students
Essential part of everyday life at Ithaca
Significant dissatisfaction among students
Potential to affect class attendance
$$$
4. The Weather
Snowstorms
Hail
Rain
Cold Temperatures
Wind
Average Winter Temperature: 16 degrees without wind
chill.
The city of Ithaca gets close to 3x the national average
of snowfall per year.
5. Survey
93% of students believe parking at IC is a significant
problem.
81% of students believe amount of Red parking spots is a
problem.
75% of students believe the location of Red lots are a
problem.
73% of students believe the convenience to academic
buildings is a problem.
6. Student Quotes
“There is not enough accessible parking for students. I
shouldn't have to park in Z Lot for my class in Hill.”
“Parking is very far from academic buildings. Also, there
are hardly enough spots for those that live off campus
and must drive to campus.”
“There are too many blue parking lots that aren't being
filled by professors and should be made available to
either red or blue parking passes.”
7. Student Quotes
“There’s not enough red parking spots/lots, and many of
them are too far away from academic buildings.”
“I understand that IC is probably doing their best to
accommodate everyone, but the parking situations are a
bit ridiculous. We are forced to pay for parking permits
but yet have the worst parking areas (red lot) being that
the parking spots are so far from academic buildings.”
“Having a car is supposed to make life easier on campus
but it isn’t easier if we can’t park anywhere near our
academic buildings.”
8. Goals
To make parking both convenient, accessible, and less
difficult for students.
To solve this problem for the betterment of the Ithaca
College community.
To make parking so simple and so easy that it no longer
