Expectations of Uniform
• School Sweatshirt
• Grey/black skirt/shorts/trousers/pinafore dress
• White polo shirt/ cotton shirt
• Black shoes (no heels, no trainers)
• In summer – purple dresses /shorts ( black or
grey)
• No Jewellery except small studs or sleepers
All Uniform MUST be labelled!
PE Kit
• PE Kit – These should be brought in at the
beginning of a half term and taken home
at the end of a half term.
• It is essential for your child's wellbeing that
they are fully equipped to take part in PE.
• The kit must be black shorts, white t-shirt,
white socks, black plimsolls. For outdoor
PE, children can wear tracksuit bottoms
and trainers.
• Long hair should be tied back.

Did you know..?
If your child is late 10 minutes every day, then over the course of a year, they will miss out on
32.5 hours of learning time – which is the same as being absent for more than a full week of
school!
We want to work together with parents to provide children with the best possible start in life.
Part of our role as adults is helping the children we take care of to develop important life
skills. Attendance and punctuality are two very important life skills.
Cross curricular learning
• IPC has been updated in line with the new curriculum.
• Exit and Entry points.
• IPC involves Science, History, Geography, Computing,
Music, Citizenship, Art and Design Technology.
• This year, we will be linking all of our writing and some of
our maths to the topic we are studying.
• Other subjects will also be timetabled into the school
week, such as PE and RE.
• Any skills not covered will be taught at other times.

due in on Wednesday.
- Maths: Alternate weeks. Given out on a Friday due in on

- Reading Club and Homework Club for those children who don’t
manage to complete this at home.
Upper Key Stage 2
Reading Record Books
Each week your child will bring home
books appropriate to their reading
ability. In addition to this, your child will
be able to choose a library book to take
home and have access to Bug Club for
online reading books.
 
It is the expectation that your child
reads daily at home. In Years 5 and 6
we expect children to be able to make
their own comment about the book
they have read! The questions at the
front of the reading record book are
prompts so you can help your child
generate ideas in response to the text.
This will help to develop his/her
comprehension skills.
 
If you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to speak to your
child’s class teacher.
Enrichment Activities

• Sky Skills Studio- Spring Term

• Recorders for Year 5/6 on Friday lunch time.

refilled each day, taken home on a Friday

New Assessment Procedures
•There is a new curriculum and therefore a new way of assessing the
children.
•The new curriculum focuses on deepening understanding, and not
moving on before children have embedded a skill or concept.
•Teachers will no longer be using levels. Therefore, your child will no
longer be given the label of 3a, 4c etc………..
•Teachers will now be able to tell you if your child is on track to meet
year group expectations.
•They will also be able to communicate to you which areas of the
curriculum your child needs to develop further in.
•There will still be formal assessments in years 2 and 6, however the
government are still finalising their eventual layout.
•Mr Redman will be doing a ‘new assessment’ workshop for parents on
Tuesday 6th
October at 2.30pm.
