Dear Change-Maker,
Countless children in Los Angeles lack the family and community support structures required to be healthy and happy. These kids do not have access to typical educational resources and recreational outlets. Instead, they are surrounded by high crime rates and drug use. They struggle to make it safely through the school day, cope with a tumultuous home life, or get enough to eat – let alone receive the necessary guidance, instruction, and interaction.
An alarming 35% of LA School District high school students dropped out last year. More alarming is that it doesn’t have to be this way. The sooner we can provide children with the tools they need to be effective leaders, and the more often we can connect with them, the bigger the difference we can make! Our interaction benefits not only the child, but also the child’s family, friends, community – and thus, our communities, and yours.
Activating our Natural Leaders transforms our World.
As you may be aware, the KVBL Natural Leaders Program provides empowering, hands-on education to children in the Los Angeles area who are otherwise limited in what they see as possible for themselves and their futures. In the last four years, funds donated to the KVBL have been used to provide:
Teamwork and leadership training and exercises.
Emotional growth coaching, affirmation exercises and personal development support.
Basketball training with the Venice Basketball League’s best players and other celebrities.
Yoga, body alignment, and fitness training from certified fitness professionals.
Surfing instruction from world-renowned experts.
Sustainability, environmental and creative arts education and experiences.
Healthy, organic breakfasts and lunches, along with nutrition education.
Your sponsorship provides children with the resources, mentors, and experiences to activate the Natural Leader within each of them. Upon completion of the program, children return to their families and communities, empowered to lead by example and transform their worlds.
Without your support, we cannot continue providing children with this game-changing opportunity. Enclosed you will find more information on available sponsorship opportunities. To support our Natural Leaders or ask any questions, please contact me at your convenience.

Mulrenin was attracted to the business model of using retired law enforcement officers as instructors given his background of serving in the Marine Corps and as a police officer for 28 years. While the transition to franchise owner required a lot of hard work, Mulrenin appreciates being his own boss and having the support of the Teen Road to Safety system as he focuses on marketing his business and ensuring teens and adults learn safe driving skills.
Kevin Lathrop discusses his experience transitioning from a franchise owner to an executive role within the same franchise company, Unishippers Global Logistics. Lathrop emphasizes finding a franchise company that values input from franchisees and promotes from within.

Soccer Shots Global Goals
Launches 2013 Campaign
Each year, Soccer Shots franchise
owners join together to support the
non-profit arm of the company, Global
Goals.
Global Goals was born out of a vision that
the Soccer Shots franchise community
could join together and provide
opportunities for growth to disadvantaged
children, through soccer, across the U.S.
and around the world.
In 2013, Global Goals fundraising
was redirected toward the U.S. Soccer
Foundation’s annual Urban Soccer
Symposium. The Symposium brings
together coaches and leaders from across
the country who are making an impact
in their communities through the game
of soccer. In many of these communities,
a child’s involvement in a local soccer
program is the only alternative away from
gang violence and drug or alcohol abuse.
“When the U.S. Soccer Foundation first
approached Soccer Shots about the need
for Symposium fundraising, we knew right
away this was a no-brainer decision and
made the commitment to extend our reach
to the kids who need it most,” explained
Global Goals Committee Chair, Annie
Ferret.
During the month of October, Soccer
Shots franchisees across the country
will host National Clinics that serve
as fundraisers for the Global Goals
effort. During the Clinics, children will
participate in a Soccer Shots session,
parents will get to be a part of the fun, and
there may be opportunities to meet some
of the local leaders who are a part of the
Urban Soccer Symposium.

British Swim School Dives
Into International Waters
British Swim School is proud to
announce their first international
franchise in Turkey.
Franchising since 2011, by the end of
2013 the company will have 20 franchised
markets operating in over three dozens
pools throughout the United States.
Requiring no pool construction and an
investment as low as $40,000, British
Swim School franchisees can be operating
in less than 90 days.
Dedicated to teaching water survival
for over 30 years, British Swim School’s
methods are based on teaching beginners
of all age groups that the ability to float on
their back is the most important survival
skill of all. This enables all swimmers
to rest, breath and call for help, thus
alleviating the “silent” danger of floating
face down. British Swim School founder,
Rita Goldberg, has worked continuously
to develop, improve and fine tune these
methods resulting in the ability to teach
babies as young as three month old to roll
over onto their backs. Our teaching is a
gradual, gentle and fun process.
