This document outlines guidelines for calculating package weight for logistics partners. Logistics partners charge for fulfillment based on the volumetric weight or actual weight of packaged products, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight is calculated based on the length, breadth and height of packages and factors in whether the weight is below or above 5 kg. Examples are provided to demonstrate how volumetric weight is calculated for packages weighing 600g and 25kg based on their dimensions. Weight Calculation by Logistics Partner
An important part of Customer Satisfaction is the product packages that are
delivered to customers. Logistics Partners, who actually provide this delivery,
charge for fulfilment based on Volumetric Weight of the Packaged Product. This is
calculated in mainly two slabs:
a. Below 5 Kg Slab Volumetric weight is calculated as:
length*breadth*height (in cm)/5000 = = Volumetric Weight in kilograms
b. 5 Kg and Above Slab Volumetric weight is calculated as:
{length*breadth*height (in cm)/27000}*S = = Volumetric Weight in kilograms
here S is the CBM factor that varies with industry (for ShopClues the CBM factor is 8)
When considering weight of the product for shipment, the actual weight is
compared to the volumetric weight of the product, and the higher is chosen

Example
For a packaged product with dead weight 600 grams and below mentioned
dimensions,
• Length -20cms,
• Breadth -14cms,
• Height – 10cms
The Volumetric weight would be calculated by
20*14*10/5000= 560 grams
The weight of 600 grams (being higher of the two) would be updated in System
and will be the basis on which fulfilment related calculation will take place.
