Jane Combeau has been elected as the new Chair of PACEY. She has been a registered childminder since 1995 and has been an enthusiastic volunteer for PACEY for many years, including serving as Vice Chair for three years. The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) is a charity and professional
association founded in 1977 which represents circa 30,000 childcare professionals, including
childminders, nannies, and increasing numbers of nursery workers and early years students
working across England and Wales.
Our audience is particularly attractive to businesses in
the childcare, education and commercial sectors, and its
distinctive profile matches those of
many brands.
As busy, working people – often with families of their
own – our members are a difficult audience to reach
through conventional media.
PACEY’s strong audience connections, through its
digital and print channels, present a real opportunity
to engage this influential market.
Currently the majority of our members are
childminders, but we are rapidly expanding our
membership offer to nannies, nursery workers and
managers as well as college students.
Our members are mostly female and 75% are aged 18-44.
They are committed to caring for children, and believe
in the importance of enhancing their own professional
status through learning and development. They are a
motivated group and interested in developing their skills
and their role in giving children the best start in life.
They are internet friendly, prefer email, and value
networking with friends and colleagues.
Our members have a trusted and influential role within
the families and communities in which they work.
The relationship that a childminder, nanny or nursery
key worker has with the families of the children
they care for is unique: the families are keen to hear
about the progress their child is making and the daily
interaction between childcare professionals and the
child’s families provides an opportunity for exchange of
information, including recommendation
of products and services.
So as well as being consumers in their own right, our
members offer a unique channel to reach millions of
families across England and Wales.

To promote the publication of Penny Tassoni’s new handbook,
Getting It Right for Two Year Olds, we advertised on the training
pages of PACEY’s website from April to July 2014.
From drafting an advertising proposal to sending regular
web stats and featuring our book on social media, the PACEY team
made the process a breeze, keeping both members’ needs and ours
in mind the entire time.

Bluefin is proud of its partnership
with PACEY, acting as insurance services
provider of choice to their members. We
advertise our services to 30,000 members
via the PACEY website and a variety of
other media. The childminding and wider
early years sector is often considered
a market that’s difficult to reach, so we
would recommend PACEY to any other
organisations thinking of promoting their
products or services.

Through PACEY, we can offer a unique opportunity to get
close to your customers and gain market intelligence and
input into developing your products and services.
PACEY Local is our network of highly motivated and
influential members operating in local groups across
England and Wales. They are ideally placed to offer you the
insight and feedback that you need.
Opportunities for research include quantitative and
qualitative email/online surveys, telephone research
and face-to-face focus groups. We can support research
programme development as well as recruit respondents.
We also offer exclusive access to our local groups, with
a highly targeted approach – for instance, we can target
those groups within a region or sharing particular
expertise or experience.
