 Argentina is signatory to the Convention on Biodiversity which states:
 Target 7: By 2020 areas under agriculture, aquaculture and forestry
are managed sustainably, ensuring conservation of biodiversity.
 Target 11: By 2020, at least 17 percent of terrestrial…are conserved
through effectively and equitably managed, ecologically representative
and well connected systems of protected areas and other effective
area-based conservation measures, and integrated into the wider
landscapes and seascapes.
CONTEXT
We should be “very sustainable” in 17% of each ecoregion

14. Sustainable production models:
• Improve the business, are more stable and have less risk against prices
and climate.
• Conserve wildlife and traditions.
• Root people in rural areas.
• Maintain ecosystem services.
• Recover the "natural" image of Argentine beef and is certifiable.
• Are independent from the supply of inputs.
• Contribute with commitments to lower emissions and achieve targets.
• Are compatible with small and large producers.
Needs:
• Promotion of process technologies that are not “sold”.
• Pilot sites to monitor and adjust Chaco models.
• Market demand for truly sustainable beef.
CONCLUSIONS: Livestockproduction is possible
while conserving biodiversity in non converted areas
