Diazepam
Potential interactions and factors that affect the use of Diazepam:
The major dynamic interactions of Diazepam occur with other CNS depressant drugs including
ethanol, non benzodiazepine sedative hypnotics, barbiturates and drugs with CNS anticholinergic
effects such as antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants and opioids, which cause synergetic
increase in CNS depression (INCHEM: Diazepam monograph, 1990). In relation to the potential
drug interactions specific to Mrs G, concurrent administration of hepatic enzyme inhibitor such as
omeprazole can reduce the clearance of Diazepam and enhance the action of Diazepam (Medsafe:
Arrow Diazepam monograph, 2013). Moreover, the concomitant administration of anti anxiety
agents such as Nozinan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gershkovich et al. (2015) highlight that Diazepam is not the drug of choice for treating AWS in
cirrhosis patients as Diazepam undergoes oxidative metabolism in liver by CYP 2 C19 and CYP
3A4 and shows impaired metabolic rate in cirrhosis patients like Mrs G leading to increased
plasma concentration of Diazepam and its accumulation causing worsening of symptoms. Evidence
suggests that Lorazepam could be used for Mrs G, instead of Diazepam, as Lorazepam undergoes
glucorinidation rather than oxidative metabolism and glucorinidation is not or minimally affected
by liver cirrhosis (Peppers, 1996; Gershkovich et al., 2015). It must be noted that IV Lorazepam is
not licensed to use in New Zealand and therefore needs patient consent (CCDHB,

Andy Mulligan s Trash
Essay Topic: Discuss how Andy Mulligan represents the divide Between the Rich and the Poor
in the novel Trash, ? Andy Mulligan divides the rich and the poor by showing that the rich have
more freedom, a better appearance and get to be buried in the ground, You should see me,
dressed to kill, (Page 5). This quote is going to be in one body paragraph later on in the essay. In
Trash Andy Mulligan shows the separation of the wealthy and the disadvantaged by describing,
the wall at the graveyard. The cemetery you see is divided by a wall, and that is the wall we are
sitting on. The wall divides the rich quarter, where the dead get buried in the earth, from the poor
quarter, where the dead get stacked up in boxes, (Page 180). That is unnatural why should they

Since the early days, the men try overcome environmental challenges and, in this process, ends up
creating amazing masterpieces of engineering. Among this works, the bridges appears as the
clearest representatives of how the mankind could adapt to Earth s contours. If the shape of
landscape can t be changed, the bridgesare the solution to link two places and allows the connection
of the traffic to improve aspects such as the communication and the trade. Depending to the need, to
the sources and to the environment, the bridgecan be constructed in a specific configuration. There
are five main sorts of bridges configurations. First, there is the simplest bridge, the beam bridge.
Second, the archbridge, one of the oldest kind. There are the truss, composed of set of trellises.

the analysis of their characteristics, it is possible compare and contrast these projects in aspects
such as historic facts, design features, and environmental and construction challenges.
First, the construction of the bride reflects a need and depends of the constructors sources. A
bridge is basically constructed to link two places, but its importance comes from the reason for
which it was made. Each bridge has its own motive to exist and history. In the case of the Hoover
Dam Bypass, the project was conceived as a alternative to the traffic. Previously the construction

The attitudes of the teenagers.
Not all teenagers will be rude or disrespectful, but some disrespect is a normal part of teenage
growth and development. They are learning to express and test out his/her own independent ideas.
Developing independence is a key part of growing up.
A teenager s mood can change quickly. Because of how teenage brains develop, teenagers are not
always able to quickly handle their changing feelings and reactions to everyday or unexpected
things, Sometimes this can lead to over sensitivity.

Today s generation is really different from before. 48 out 50 have agreed that the attitude of this
generation s teenagers have changed. We can say that this generation became corrupted. Filipino
teenagers before doesn t act this way. They were polite and respectful. Most of the teenagers
before are really well trained and disciplined.
The main reason that made the teenagers today different from before is the influence of
technology. Back then there were no high tech gadgets. Not like today that we are exposed to
many things good or bad. We have the internet, media, and technology. They don t have that
before. We can say that everything they did was through hard work. We teenager grew up in this
generation and we got used to it, so if we try to imagine that we lived in the same way they did

Saving And Planning For The Future
Saving and planning for the future is an important task that every individual should plan for.
However, many times individuals feel overwhelmed and are anxious about how it is possible to
survive and plan for the future. The Bible gives us good insight into how we should plan and
manage our finances that pleases the Lord. 2 Corinthians 9:6 states [w]hoever sows sparingly will
also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously (ESV). It is possible to
save for the futurewhile at the same timepleasing the Lord. For those who love the Lord and live
by his directions knows that God is a God of plans. Jeremiah tells us For I know the plans that I
have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and
hope (Jeremiah 29:11, NASV). Concerning long term finance, there is one story, in particular, the
story of Joseph the King of Dreams. In this story, God gave two prisoners a dream and gave
Joseph the ability to interpret them. That revelation of the dreams came to pass and in time,
Pharaoh had a dream. The news came to him of Joseph s ability to interpret the dream, and he sent
for Joseph. The dream was that there would be seven years of good and plenty, followed by seven
years of famine and destitution. Upon this revelation, Pharaoh made Joseph ruler over the house
and land. God gave Joseph a contingency plan. First, let us talk about what a contingency is.
Contingency is any unexpected situation

Attachment Theory And Children Of Divorce
Brittany Almony 05/10/2015 Social Psychology Attachment Theory and Children of Divorce
Attachment theory, or styles, is the way we describe relationships and bonds between people. In
this particular case it will be about the bond between two parents and the child as they struggle
through the troubles of divorce. In Dean McKay s article The Trauma of Divorce: Reducing the
Impact of Separation on Children we see that he identifies divorce for children as trauma, and that
because of trauma they become less secure in attachment. He begins to show the multiple ways
that divorce can cause an impact on children, if the child is going through an attachment stage.
McKay also begins to tell of how attachments can become weakened through divorce (McKay,
1997). His main area of concern though is that if the attachment is weakened as a child how does
it both them as an adult? In the article McKay states, Divorce is a time of tremendous upheaval in
families. Given the disruption, should the divorce process occur at a point where the child s
attachment style is not fully developed, it stands to reason that the likelihood of secure
attachment...is reduced. This shows that in order to provide for the child they need to create a
balance between them where the child can grow to have a more stable environment, even if both
parents aren t in the same living quarters. Then he begins to go through the multiple stages of a
child and their styles of attachment to their parents. According

rules to follow, taboos are a neglect of law and laws are a set of guidelines enforced by the Bishop

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are thin custom made shells designed to cover the front surface of the teeth,
improving your appearance and enhancing your smile by altering the colour, shape, size and length
of your teeth. Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or resin composite material. Although
porcelain veneers are stain resistant and makes the teethappear brighter, resin veneers are thinner
and require less removal of the natural tooth surface before placement
Veneers are generally used to fix teeth that are discoloured, have gaps, are chipped and broken, are
misaligned, irregularly shaped, or have merely been worn down. These tooth imperfections can
arise from a variety of different reasons, such as: beverage intake (alcohol and caffeine are known
causes of staining) and unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, drug addictions and poor oral hygiene are the
main causes of tooth imperfection).
Getting dental veneers will require only three trips to the dentist. One for the consultation, and two
to make and apply the veneers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thickness of the veneer which will be bonded to the tooth. Once the enamel trimming has been
done, your dentist will create a model or impression of your teeth which will be sent to a dental
laboratory where your veneers will be constructed. It takes approximately 2 weeks for a dentist to
receive veneers from the laboratory, so during this period temporary dental veneers can be worn to

The Case For Contamination By Kwame Anthony Appiah Summary
In Kwame Anthony Appiah s essay, The Case for Contamination, he discusses the complications
and benefits of globalization, and the impacts it has on smaller cultures. Appiah begins his
argument with an apparent negative connotation with the term globalization how it threatens the
ability for a culture to maintain traditions with influences from the western world. As his essay
continues on, he proves the contrary, and that members of society have the capability to keep
traditions whilst interacting with western ideals.
Appiah continues, and delves into the story of a Ghanaian Wednesday Festival, a tradition that has
been in their culture for hundreds of years. As he begins to look around the event, he notices that the

(Myers 2014, p. 461) In the film, Full Metal Jacket, Sergent Hartman played his role as the drill
instructor both intensely and aggressively.(Kubrick) Hartman perfectly reflected the stereotype of
both verbally and physically abusive drill instructors as he used his role as the instructor to
frequently undermine and harass the new cadets. Hartman s goal as a drill instructor was to have
all of the cadets to conform into the ideal type of soldier for war, even if that meant possibly
shattering their beliefs and mind. Both Joker and Gomer Pyle suffered

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fitness Test
Task 1
Within this report I will recommend the stages I believe that should be carried out to allow the
fitness test happened safely, and the policies I believe should be put into place while a volunteer
carries out these tests. Prior to doing a lab based fitness test there are many stages you are
supposed to carry out to ensure all participants are safe and all risks are reduced or eliminated.
P1
The first test I urge you to carry out would be to do a risk assessment, this will include finding all
the hazards that would be a risk to participants. For example; One of the hazards while carrying
out the test you will be doing could be if a participant was to wear the wrong type of shoes while
doing the beep test this could lead to them injuring themselves by falling over. After collecting all
the hazards write down how these risks can be controlled and the extent of the risk. For the
example I gave for a hazard that could happen in the test being taken it could be controlled by all
participants wearing trainers with good grip, it also is a high risk due to the amount of times
the risk is possible to happen. If the risk is a high risk and cannot be reduced I recommend that
you do not carry out the test till the risk can be reduced for the safety of participants. The second
thing I recommend you should do before doing the test would to be for you to have a PAR Q test
for all participants to fill out before the test so that you as the testy are informed on everything you
need to

Nitric Oxide On Oxygen Levels
Nitric Oxide on Hypoxia Levels in Metabolism and Vasoactivity Regulation This review paper is
based on research and learned techniques through this semester (Fall 2015), conducted under Dr.
Kenneth Kambis in the Adair Hall Facility. Although final approval was authorized in December,
there were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research
project titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment
Simulating a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia
levels in various ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and
vasoactivity in certain species systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper
materials, methods, and equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygenwhether in humans, sheep,
rats or mice is essential to understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be
done in vivo or in vitro. In the laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the
oxygen content of the chamber atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure
of oxygen in a given hypobaric environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis,
2015). Thus the regulation of oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric
atmospheres of up to extreme altitude. Innovation In human research the demographics to consider
in a study are age, gender, height, weight, and

The Deadly Diet Of Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high, high school, and
college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but are often known
by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20% of females
between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know of someone
with an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious
problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female
problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families.
Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar families. The Deadly
Diet can begin anywhere from the ages of ten to thirty. The peak age for the beginning of the
Deadly Diet in females is eleven to fifteen; the peak for males is between fifteen and eighteen
(Bauer, 89). Most of the information on the Deadly Diet says that it is a problem of teenage
girls, but as clinics have found, most of the people who come to get therapy are in their twenties
and thirties. This may be because younger people are less likely to seek professional help. Most
often it is the parent who brings the patient for help. Adults who have left home and had to deal
with managing their lives usually tend to realize more clearly the need to seek help and make
changes. Everywhere one looks today, one will notice that our culture places a very

How Did Ancient Egyptomania Affect The Modern World
Egyptomania; the expression used to encompass the West s complete allure with the wonders and
mysteries of the Ancient Egyptian world. Part of this fascination stems from unconscious
acknowledgement of a civilization that produced a highly functioning society, government,
economy, art, and religion that permeates the world today, that contrasts with the engrained
ethnocentricity of Western societies. Inquest into the mysteries of the land have sprung up from
Hellenistic times, to the Renaissance, to the Age of Napoleon and even to the interest sparked by
the recovery of the Boy King s (Tutankhamun) tomb in the 1920s.

Saint Matthew Essay
Saint Matthew
The name Matthew comes from the Greek Maththaios, which is derived from the Hebrew or
Aramaic Mattiyah. His name means gift of Yahweh or simply gift of God. Saint Matthew was
one of the twelve apostles and he wrote the Gospel according to Matthew. Although he was a
publican, it is said the Saint Matthew was a Jew. Before his conversion, he was a publican, which
was a tax collector, by profession. Not much is really known about Matthew later on in his life. His
beginning of apostolic activity started in the communities of Palestine. He wrote for his
countrymen in Palestine and composed his Gospel in his native Aramaic. This is refereed to as the
Hebrew tongue which is mentioned in the Gospel and the Acts of ... Show more content on

They doubt though that the apostle Matthew wrote the book. Whoever the actual author was, he is
identified as Jewish in origin, because his Gospel contains many references to Jewish Scripture, law,
and ways of life. Although not clear, some authorities think it was Palestine, and others think is was
another early Christian center, possibly the city of Antioch, where it was written.
Matthew s Gospel has been understood as Jewish Christian in outlook. Matthew had a number of
purposes for writing the Gospel. One was to instruct and exhort members of his community. He has
two broad categories of material: narrative and discourse. Many scholars conclude Matthew s
primary intent was to write a handbook for church leaders to assist them in preaching, teaching,
worship, mission, and polemic. In his Gospel, Matthew focused clearly on
Jesus Christ and his kingdom as the good news of salvation. For Matthew, Jesus is not the son of
David, but he is the son of Abraham.
Notable in Matthew is its emphasis on Jesus as the promised Messiah and on matters pertaining to
the church. Evidence that it probably was written for Jewish Christians may be found which is
concerned with representing Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament. The deep interest in the
disciples is emphasized in Matthew. Matthew gives the fullest account of how Jesus called them,
how he instructed them, how they failed him, and

The Necessity of Routine Dental Examinations Essay examples
Routine Dental Examinations Visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a routine examination is
recommended to find dental problems early. A knowledgeable dentist understands how to examine
the facial structure, neck and mouth for abnormalities such as growths that indicate cancer. During
the examination, the dentist can quickly fill tiny cavities or remove hardened plaque. Despite
brushing carefully each day, many individuals miss tartar buildup below the gumline or between
teeth. The dentist can remove the sticky plaque with scraping devices to prevent bacteria from
causing gum inflammation and enamel erosion. If the dentist notices additional problems, further
treatment is necessary. Bad Breath Many patients visit a dentist... Show more content on

Bacteria from plaque and tartar are the primary causes of decayed tooth enamel. Bacteria can
destroy enamel causing an individual to experience pain from inside the tooth where tiny nerve
endings are located. Tooth decay occurs between teeth, on biting surfaces or near dental roots. A
dentist can usually restore a tooth with a small cavity by using a specialized drill to remove
damaged enamel and bacteria. After removing the decay and sanitizing the area, a restoration is
necessary to support the outer layer of a tooth. Gum Inflammation Individuals experiencing gum
inflammation should see a dentist quickly for treatment. The typical signs of gingivitis of the gums
are swollen tissue, frequent bleeding or discomfort while chewing food. Immediate intervention
from a dentist is required when gum tissue has a chronic infection. Untreated gingivitis can lead to
loss of teeth due to root or pulp infection. In addition to a visual examination of teeth and gums, a
dentist will require medical imaging tests to look at underlying structures including bone tissue.
Treatment of gingivitis includes removing bacteria from the teeth, roots and gums with curettage,
planing and scaling techniques. Dental Trauma A dental emergency requires quick thinking and
action to save a tooth. A dentist is always available to assist with dental emergencies immediately.

Alexander The Great Legacy
Alexander the Great is the most famous conqueror in the history of the world. His legacy and
conquest has shaped the world we know today. Many leaders after him have looked to him as an
example of what a good leader should be. Alexander the Great s tomb was one of the biggest
tourist attractions of the ancient world. Roman emperors, including Pompey, Julius Caesar, and
Caligula traveled to Alexandria to pay their respects. It all started at the age of 18 when Alexander
took charge of the Companion Cavalry and helped his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban
armies. Starting from such a young age Alexander has been already shaping the empire he would
create. At the age of twenty he became king, then by the age of twenty six he conquered the
Persian Empire and at age thirty explored the Indian frontier. He was an unstoppable force
conquering the world. Alexander the Great is the greatest conqueror of the known world, because
of the personal teachings of Aristotle of Stagira, his innovated militarygenius and multicultural
integration methods. Aristotle is one of the greatest intellectual figures of Western history. Still
today we are using his works in philosophy and the sciences. This allowed Alexander to take in
vast amounts of knowledge. Aristotle saw the love for learning Alexander had and helped him
further his studies. Growing up Alexander was interested in the secrets of medicine. King Philip
wanted to give his son the best education he could. He asks

Hollow Face Impression Analysis
The hollow face illusion is an illusion produced by ambiguity of visual depth processing
(Gregory 1970). It occurs when a concave, hollow mask is perceived as a convex face i.e. with
facial features protruding towards the observer (Hill and Johnston, 2007). Hill and Bruce (1993)
propose that the illusion is a result of the contradictory information received from depth cues.
Contrary to this, Hill and Johnston (2007) assert that this is not the case. Rather, they emphasise
alternative explanations such as the familiarity of faces and a general inclination towards convexity.
A number of studies support these assertions, and moreover provide evidence that suggests a
number of factors are critical in creating the illusion. Primarily, these include motion, shading, and
orientation. (Marr, 1982; Gregory, 1973; Hill and Bruce, 1993; Georgeson, 1979).... Show more

Our brain receives input that is processed by the visual system in order to create perception. This is
referred to as bottom up processing, as the information travels through a hierarchy of structures
ranging from early cortical areas to higher functioning systems (Oram and Perret, 1994). In
contrast, our brain often makes inferences about what we perceive, as a function of top down
processing (Cauller, 1995). In the case of the hollow face illusion, our brain knows what we are
observing is a face, and that faces are typically associated with convex objects (Gregory, 1973).
Georgeson (1979) supports this idea by suggesting that the familiarity of an object has the ability to
interfere with how it is

Parallelism Jane Eyre
Parallelism that Empowers Gender plays a significant role in both Jasper Fforde s The Eyre Affair
and in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre. The protagonists in each of these novels contradict the
expected roles of men and women through similar methods. Many parallels can be drawn between
Jane Eyre and Thursday Next, exposing the true strength of these women in the face of society s
expectations of them. By investigating the genderroles of the Victorian Era in Jane Eyreand looking
at the more modern presentation of gender roles in The Eyre Affair, a clear understanding of these
author s intentions to expose the gender issues can be seen. Jane Eyre is a classic novelin which

In The Eyre Affair, Thursday Next is presented with an opportunity to move to Ohio and start a
life with one of her coworkers. Although she heavily considers this option, Thursday ultimately
decides to follow her heart and marry Landen Park Laine. A similar plot is seen in Bronte s Jane
Eyre. Jane is presented with a marriage proposal and an opportunity to travel to India with St.
John Rivers. While this is the chosen path in the first manuscript of Jane Eyre in Fforde s novel,
the ending is altered to parallel that of Thursday Next s marriage plot. Jane, like Thursday,
denies this proposal and follows her heart. She returns to Thornfield to marry Mr. Rochester. It
would have been easy for these two women to succumb to societal expectations and rush into a
marriage with suitable men for the purpose of conforming to society. Jane and Thursday empower
women by proving that patience and love is the most rewarding. By rejecting their marriage
proposals, Jane Eyre and Thursday Next empower other women to take control of their lives and
choose their spouses. As C. Sykes examines Victorian literature in his essay, he recognizes that
many authors reveal gender issues. While some define characters by his or her marital status, others
reveal inequality through female capabilities (Sykes). Victorian literature, like Bronte s Jane Eyre,

Merchant s Tale Irony
Merchants Tale and how Chaucer portrays Irony (1 27) As with a number of the Canterbury
tales, the prologue to The Merchant s Tale, is of significant to Chaucer s ironic and sarcastic
comments in the rest of the tale, it sets up the merchant s views on women, and marriage in
particular, as set out in the prologue which allow us to recognise the irony throughout his tale.
This allows us to see the way in which the Merchant is telling his tale, for example thilke blissful
lyf might seem an innocent enough comment to make for one knowing so little about marriage as
January, yet we could pick up the dripping sarcasm of this comment said by the merchant in
January s place. By comparing the prologue with the opening of the tale, the reader can... Show

The Merchant could possibly be telling us this fictional tale instead of the factual story his
miserable marriage. We expect this structural irony of him setting up a man positive and essentially

sudden change in opinions in the tale could be seen as an exaggerative irony throughout the tale.
The Merchant describes his wife as worste that may be The main irony in the tale is the difference
between the merchant and January. In the merchant s prologue: We wedded men, lyven in sorwe
and care... The counterpart to this comes then from January for ideas about marriage: Mighte ones

the title of self delusion. Accordingly, when the merchant offers the warnings of Theophrastus,
concluding with: And an hundred thynges worse....., ther God his bones curse! It could just be

Honestly, it might exist as an art, because who knew someone could be so good at being

Pennies made before 1982 and the pennies that were made after them create a significant
difference. Pennies made before 1982 are made of copper (Warnick 1). Due to the change of the
of the metals over the time period it must of caused a change in the pennies mass. Therefore, the
density of pennies created before 1982 and the pennies produced today have different densities.
Density can also be used to identify unknown substances Density is defined as the ratio of mass to

Essay on The English Reformation
Though there was no driving force like Luther, Zwingli or Calvin during the English
Reformation, it succeeded because certain people strived for political power and not exactly for
religious freedom. People like Queen Elizabeth I and Henry VIII brought the Reformation in
England much success, however their reasons were based on self gain and desire for political power.
Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I may have been the English Reformation s greatest benefactors, all
because of self interest. Henry VIII was not originally Protestant, but after the pope denied him of
his divorce, Henry VIII took things into his own hands. Due to the power kings had in the Middle

Nationalism made the Catholics believe that Henry VIII was right to remove the pope even though
they may not have agreed with Henry s decisions. This change gave the Lutherans and other
reformers great hope also, knowing now that their greatest rival, the pope, had been deposed.
Unfortunately, other Englishmen who stood firm against the Act of Supremacy met strong
opposition from the king. Soon after, another law was passed called the Law of Treason and
Heresy. This law made sure that everyone recognized the king as the head of the church and more
importantly, brought punishments to anyone who did not receive the king as the lawful head of the
Church of England.
In the early 1500s, Thomas Cranmer, the Archbishop of Canterbury, grew in the favor of Henry
VIII. When Henry VIII was attempting to divorce Catherine of Aragon, Thomas Cranmer helped
Henry VIII build his case for the annulment of the marriage. Thomas Cranmer also supported the
law of Royal Supremacy, which made the king the head of the Church. These things led to
Thomas Cranmer getting in Henry VIII good books which later helped him once Edward VI
acceded the throne. Thomas Cranmer s willingness to compromise helped him reach such a
powerful position in the church so quickly. If Cranmer had gone about things the way Luther did,
he would have easily been executed for heresy and defying the Law of Treason and Heresy by
revolting against the king. By compromising some

A Short Note On Diabetes And Its Effects On The Risk Of...
Diastolic dysfunction is observed in 40 60% of diabetics with heart failure, this occur through a
pathological processes that cause stiffening of the myocardium due to cross linking and
extracellular matrix deposition, hypertrophy, and neuronal abnormalities (Rakowski et al.,
1996), (Zile Brutsaert 2002), (Laing et al., 2003), (Drury et al., 2011), (Forbes Cooper 2013).
Many factors play a role in development of CVD in diabetes as dyslipidemia, poor glycemic
control that cause direct damage to myocardium, or affect through atherosclerotic process ,
while other factors are still controversial (Zile Brutsaert 2002), (Hogan et al., 2003), (Laing et al.,
2003), (Paterson et al., 2007), (Fowler 2008), (Forbes Cooper 2013). The current study
investigated effect of different coronary risk factors on the risk of development of heart failure
such as age, gender, presence of medical comorbidities as (DM, hypertension and CAD),
smoking, Body mass index (BMI), blood sugar and lipid profile and results showed that both DM
and CAD had strong association with development of heart failure as well as obesity measured by
BMI and cholesterollevel. This agreed with many studies that showed that diabetes is a strong
independent risk factor for left ventricular dysfunction and the presence of addition coronary risk
factors increase the risk such as age, sex, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, positive family
history, and smoking (Jurkovicova D et al., 2006). Also studies showed

The Factors Leading to the Chernobyl Disaster Essay
The Chernobyl disaster on April 26, 1986 was one of the most dangerous nuclear explosions this
world has ever seen, and some people are still paying the price. This disaster not only affected
Europe, it affected the whole world. This was during the time of the Cold War, and it government
corruption. The April 1986 disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine was the
product of a flawed Soviet reactor design RBMK (reaktor bolshoy moshchnosti kanalniy) coupled
with serious mistakes made by the plant operators. It was a direct consequence of Cold War
isolation and the resulting lack of any safety culture (world nuclear par 2). This disaster was caused

This was a mistake because the reactor was never meant to operate at a level that low. That is
what caused the reactor to fill with water. The RBMK reactor is dangerously unstable when
filled with water. The operator tried but could not get the water levels into control, causing the
reactors to become even more unstable. With all the water going into the reactor, water flow
was reduced causing the power levels to slowly increase. The operator quickly tried to shut
down the reactor manually, but that caused the power levels to spike. In the end the reactor had
reached 120 times its full power (library.thinkquest). All the radioactive fuel that was sitting in
the bottom of the reactor disintegrated and pressure from the steam blew the top off the reactor.
All of this plus a serious violation of safety, bad control systems, and flaws in the designs are
what led to the horrible increase of power which led to core meltdown (pubs.acs.org). The steam
explosion caused some of a nearby building to break. The explosion caused radioactive material to
be hurdled out into the sky. Fires broke out inside and outside the reactor. Later that night the fire
fighters had put the fires out, but it still took about ten days for the helicopters to drop materials on
the graphite fire to reduce radiation release. The movement of radiation in the sky continued until

Thomas Sowell (an american economist) once explained, The anti slavery movement was

Before imperialism, africa was very discombobulated and did not have real boundaries. However,
europeans were able to create boundary lines resulting in a more peaceful and organized continent.
In fact the Atlantic newspaper concludes, The threats of destabilizing war, of coups and counter
coups, have eased since the first independent African leaders pledged to uphold European drawn
borders . The final aspect that i would like to address is political effects. Although imperialism did
not necessarily offer many political rights to citizens for much of the 19th century, it acted as a
blessing in disguise for future population, introducing nationalism and democracy to africa and asia.
It also brought political unity to india. As Norton college explained, British efforts to unify India
laid the foundation for Indians to create a national identity, particularly when Indians were excluded
from full citizenship in the British system This exposure encouraged countries to fight for
independence so they could utilize these systems in the future. In 1913, Woodrow Wilson, created

Ethos In Fast Food Nation
The modern fast food industry has undeniably transformed and helped define the American way of
life, but not all in positive ways. The industry capitalizes on the exploitation of workers,
consumers, and the environment, and Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation addresses these very
issues of the fast food industry. Schlosser criticizes these fast foodcorporations, projecting his

appeals to ethos in order to convince readers of his credibility and authenticity, cementing his

Norma Rae Sociological Analysis
Organizations are often used as instruments of domination that further the selfish interests of
elites at the expense of others, and there is an element of domination in all organizations. This
theoretical metaphor explores the ugly sides of organizations and why it s socially acceptable in
our society. The theory refers to ideology and hegemony in order to justify the acceptance of
something. For example, the poor working conditions as shown in Norma Rae are seen as
acceptable in that town. Ideology is a collection of given ideas that a society or culture has. The
thought that there is no other work out there for the textile workers and if they complain about the
situation, there s a chance they could lose their jobs could be an example. In turn, it forces the
workers to accept what they are given and continue on with their lives, which then explains
hegemony. Hegemony is the acceptance of these ideologies as a normal way of life. As a whole,
the community genuinely believes that they have no other choice but to endure poor working
conditions, long hours with very few breaks, and low pay. They comply with the work conditions

between the culture and attitudes of the Europeans and the Native Americans. It further describes
how the Europeans came to the New World and committed genocide against the Native Americans
in order to get land and gold from them, which displayed the cruelty and greed of the European

Zinn mentions throughout the text about how awfully treated women were compared to men and
how they were considered inferior to men. Zinn believes that the discrimination and mistreatment of
women during the Colonial time period was the leading cause of the first movements of women s
rights in America. Zinn initially talks about the difference of treatment between Native American
women and women in the colonies, as he writes, It would be an exaggeration to say that women
were treated equally with men; but they were treated with respect, and the communal nature of the
society gave them a more important place. (Zinn) This quotation shows how the Native American
women were treated with respect from others while the women in the colonies were sexually
abused and considered worthless by their masters and husbands. Zinn uses this evidence to really
show the better treatment of Native American women compared to the women in the colonies. In
addition, Zinn goes into further detail about the treatment of women and references to what the
slave traders saw, as they state, I saw pregnant women give birth to babies while chained to corpses
which our drunken overseers had not removed... . packed spoon fashion they often gave birth to
children in the scalding perspiration from the human cargo. (Zinn) This quotation shows the awful

Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy
February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine of Aragon,
Henry VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies,
this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing
more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this
point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths,
and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould
produce a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a
girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth.
Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the
people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time
together outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well.
However, not unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women.
His most notable affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in
waiting to the Queen. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with
Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy,
and the boy was named Henry.

clothing and Accessories Company. The company is a supplier of a wide range of sportswear

of Under Armour Performance Apparel have become the top choice of athletes around the world
to wear under their uniforms or during workouts. It all began with college football player Kevin

Sales had topped the $1 million mark for the first time and Plank was finally able to pay himself
a regular salary. In 2000 Under Armour outfitted the new XFL football league and gained
considerable attention during the league s debut on national television. Though the XFL later
folded, the exposure helped put Under Armour gear into 1,500 retail outlets throughout the
United States. To keep up with demand, the company relocated to a new 14,000 square foot site
in October and by early the next year had become the official outfitter of MLB, the NHL, and
USA Baseball. Even law enforcement and military personnel were wearing Under Armour.
Under Armour earned accolades from several sources in late 2001, including being named
Apparel Supplier of the Year from Sporting Goods Business, and a Victor Award for the best New
Product Launch from the Sports Authority, the nation s largest sporting goods chain. Plank, too,
was noticed for his achievements, as one of Business Week s top under thirty business
professionals. The company also revamped its web site, featuring three dimensional views of some
of its apparel, a more extensive product listing (including ski gear), and locations of both domestic
and international dealers. Under Armour finished 2001 with sales of more than $25 million and 59

Homeless Children And Youth Assistance Act
Bradfords Helping Home
Bradfords Helping Home is a Shelter that will help the families and youth of Starke Florida who
are experiencing homelessness. Homelessness is a growing concern in our society today and not
just in Starke. In The United States on any given night, there are approximately 643,067 people
experiencing homelessness. In Bradford county there are approximately 6.9% of only the student
population and not the adults of the community experiencing homelessness. This may not seem
like a very large number but it is. These numbers should never be allowed to get this high. This is
a growing concern in Starke as we are getting at least two to three new students who are
considered homeless and put under the McKinney Vento Act. The McKinney Vento Education of
Homeless Children and Youth Assistance Act is a federal law that ensures immediate enrollment
and educational stability for homeless children and youth. McKinney Vento provides federal
funding to states for the purpose of supporting district programs that serve homeless students (
With my mother being the McKinny Vinto liaison in Bradford county I have learned of how
serious this problem is. I would like to be able to support these children, youth, and families in
helping them get back up on their feet and to be able to have a place to go if they are experiencing
homelessness. Bradords Helping Homes main mission is to help Families and the youth who are
experiencing homelessness.

Effects Of Texas Rebellion
Texas, initially Mexican territory, would lose this identity as diversity began to advance across
the state. Texas became full of diversity prior to the rebellion. Texas at the time was at its most
diverse (Unit 4, The Peoples of Mexican Texas). There were visible cultural differences and
practices. However, the differences were hardly significant enough to propel Texasinto a rebellion.
The moment the Anglos set foot in to Texas, the cultural differences were noticeable to both sides,
but it was not enough to deter either side from attempting to coexist (Unit 4, The Peoples of
Mexican Texas). The Texas rebellion began to formulate at a time where the Anglo population
began to peak. The rebellion was inevitable, and long before cultural conflicts... Show more content

Political conflict, was a key component in multiple uprisings during the time. Economic
motivations, grew to a point where it never reached prior to the Jacksonian era. Social changes,
divided a significant amount of people within Texas itself. Cultural differences were notable and
existed, but they took on a smaller role compared to politics, economics, and social changes. While
cultural differences were present, they were not nearly enough to spark an entire rebellion. The
cultural differences made it difficult to easily assimilate, but hardly impossible. The inability to
quickly adjust to preceding expected cultural norms was a very unlikely reason for the rebellion.
Weber, initially presents a very valid argument of the cultural differences between Anglo Texans and
Mexican Texans. However, he makes it clear in his essay that despite the cultural differences, the
main fight was between the Mexican Texan and the centralist Mexican government (MPTH, 139).
There is more than enough evidence to support that the Texas rebellion would occur inevitably, as
the discontent with the Mexican leadership rose. Consequently, it appeared that both cultures were
able to coexist exceptionally. It is also leaves a curious question on whether culture assimilation,
rather than cultural differences lead to the Texas

The Civil Rights Movement During The 1960 s
Sometimes a single issue can cause a rift between a political party and its members. Due in large
part to this Civil Rights movement during the 1960s, there was a switch in the Democratic and
Republican parties in terms of region and race of the parties supporting coalitions.
Race in America was a substantial motivating factor for the switch in political party identification
during the 1960s. Liberal Democrats in the north wanted their party to improve civil rights for black
Americans, and this caused Democratic party members to take advantage of their position on strong
federal power to increase equality on a national scale. While this was happening, white Americans
who opposed the Civil Rights movement turned to Republican candidates who

The Thought and Influence of Voltaire Essay
The Thought and Influence of Voltaire
I The legacy of François Marie Arouet, or Voltaire is not only a vast collection of writings, but
also a world that has been radically and directly affected by these works and the activities of their
author. While Voltaire did not create many of the ideas he professed, his success at disseminating
these is unparalleled. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues
of the Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised.
This paper will focus on Voltaires stances on vital issues, their weight versus the ideas and practices
against which they are reactions, and their influence on both 18th century Europe and the modern
West. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God
was not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had
demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a
machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are
muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their
dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age
where behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke)
believed that action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of
environment. The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7]
While this theory brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes
people into passive receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8]
Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical
system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell
as motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake.
While just laws would ensure just actions by the general population,

Lockheed Martin Case Analysis
Later on 12th December 2016, Trump slammed Lockheed Martin for the high cost expenditure
tied with its F 35 program. The market reaction was quite immediate where the shares of the
aerospace company tumbled more than 4% in early trade. Rational investors might have
considered that the jet manufacturer was on the point to lose its military contract from the
government due to the high cost involved. As a response to this, this tweet has spurred the
investors to forgo on such investment, driving the prices down. A slight recovery from the losses
was made the company s shares but eventually ended up closing at about 2% lower. Furthermore,
the company also slump by $4 billion in its market value right after the tweet of the president elect.

The President expressed on social media, his disagreement for the ridiculously high costs
involved in Lockheed Martin F 35 program and that he has turned to Boeing for the quotation of
a comparable F 18 Super Hornet.(DeMarche, 2017) The market sentiment was low for Lockheed
Martin s stocks as investors hints about the company losing its contract with the government
became higher. However, since Boeing was asked to price out its military jet, the participants in
the markets were keen to invest in Boeing with the thought that the company would quote a lower
cost to win the contract. In reaction to this tweet, the company s shares plunged by 2% while that
of its competitor, Boeing saw a surge of 0.5%. (Wang, 2017) (Macias, 2017)Post tweet the
company s valuation was promptly lowered by $1.2 billion. As mentioned earlier, prior to this
tweet, Trump went on to Boeing for its expensive Air Force One program. This kind of flurry tweet
on behalf of the President may generate competition but the risk of market instability should not
also be ignored. (Olsen,

A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay
Introduction
In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious
institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open
market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method,
findings of the study, and the discussion.
Theory and Hypothesis
The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm
shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a
generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a
certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services,
spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations
(Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be
considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of
importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive
outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and
functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are
also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character
(Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the feelings

  • 2. Diazepam Potential interactions and factors that affect the use of Diazepam: The major dynamic interactions of Diazepam occur with other CNS depressant drugs including ethanol, non benzodiazepine sedative hypnotics, barbiturates and drugs with CNS anticholinergic effects such as antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants and opioids, which cause synergetic increase in CNS depression (INCHEM: Diazepam monograph, 1990). In relation to the potential drug interactions specific to Mrs G, concurrent administration of hepatic enzyme inhibitor such as omeprazole can reduce the clearance of Diazepam and enhance the action of Diazepam (Medsafe: Arrow Diazepam monograph, 2013). Moreover, the concomitant administration of anti anxiety agents such as Nozinan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gershkovich et al. Evidence suggests that Lorazepam could be used for Mrs G, instead of Diazepam, as Lorazepam undergoes glucorinidation rather than oxidative metabolism and glucorinidation is not or minimally affected by liver cirrhosis (Peppers, 1996; Gershkovich et al., 2015). Andy Mulligan divides the rich and the poor by showing that the rich have more freedom, a better appearance and get to be buried in the ground, You should see me, dressed to kill, (Page 5). This quote is going to be in one body paragraph later on in the essay. In Trash Andy Mulligan shows the separation of the wealthy and the disadvantaged by describing, the wall at the graveyard. The cemetery you see is divided by a wall, and that is the wall we are sitting on. The wall divides the rich quarter, where the dead get buried in the earth, from the poor quarter, where the dead get stacked up in boxes, (Page 180). However, many times individuals feel overwhelmed and are anxious about how it is possible to survive and plan for the future. The Bible gives us good insight into how we should plan and manage our finances that pleases the Lord. 2 Corinthians 9:6 states [w]hoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously (ESV). It is possible to save for the futurewhile at the same timepleasing the Lord. For those who love the Lord and live by his directions knows that God is a God of plans. Jeremiah tells us For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11, NASV). Concerning long term finance, there is one story, in particular, the story of Joseph the King of Dreams. In this story, God gave two prisoners a dream and gave Joseph the ability to interpret them. That revelation of the dreams came to pass and in time, Pharaoh had a dream. The news came to him of Joseph s ability to interpret the dream, and he sent for Joseph. • 10. Attachment Theory And Children Of Divorce Brittany Almony 05/10/2015 Social Psychology Attachment Theory and Children of Divorce Attachment theory, or styles, is the way we describe relationships and bonds between people. In this particular case it will be about the bond between two parents and the child as they struggle through the troubles of divorce. In Dean McKay s article The Trauma of Divorce: Reducing the Impact of Separation on Children we see that he identifies divorce for children as trauma, and that because of trauma they become less secure in attachment. He begins to show the multiple ways that divorce can cause an impact on children, if the child is going through an attachment stage. McKay also begins to tell of how attachments can become weakened through divorce (McKay, 1997). His main area of concern though is that if the attachment is weakened as a child how does it both them as an adult? In the article McKay states, Divorce is a time of tremendous upheaval in families. Given the disruption, should the divorce process occur at a point where the child s attachment style is not fully developed, it stands to reason that the likelihood of secure attachment...is reduced. This shows that in order to provide for the child they need to create a balance between them where the child can grow to have a more stable environment, even if both parents aren t in the same living quarters. Then he begins to go through the multiple stages of a child and their styles of attachment to their parents. According ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fitness Test Task 1 Within this report I will recommend the stages I believe that should be carried out to allow the fitness test happened safely, and the policies I believe should be put into place while a volunteer carries out these tests. Prior to doing a lab based fitness test there are many stages you are supposed to carry out to ensure all participants are safe and all risks are reduced or eliminated. P1 The first test I urge you to carry out would be to do a risk assessment, this will include finding all the hazards that would be a risk to participants. For example; One of the hazards while carrying out the test you will be doing could be if a participant was to wear the wrong type of shoes while doing the beep test this could lead to them injuring themselves by falling over. After collecting all the hazards write down how these risks can be controlled and the extent of the risk. For the example I gave for a hazard that could happen in the test being taken it could be controlled by all participants wearing trainers with good grip, it also is a high risk due to the amount of times the risk is possible to happen. If the risk is a high risk and cannot be reduced I recommend that you do not carry out the test till the risk can be reduced for the safety of participants. The second thing I recommend you should do before doing the test would to be for you to have a PAR Q test for all participants to fill out before the test so that you as the testy are informed on everything you need to ... Nitric Oxide On Oxygen Levels Nitric Oxide on Hypoxia Levels in Metabolism and Vasoactivity Regulation This review paper is based on research and learned techniques through this semester (Fall 2015), conducted under Dr. Kenneth Kambis in the Adair Hall Facility. Although final approval was authorized in December, there were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research project titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment Simulating a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia levels in various ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and vasoactivity in certain species systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper materials, methods, and equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygenwhether in humans, sheep, rats or mice is essential to understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be done in vivo or in vitro. In the laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the oxygen content of the chamber atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure of oxygen in a given hypobaric environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis, 2015). Thus the regulation of oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric atmospheres of up to extreme altitude. • 18. The Deadly Diet Of Eating Disorders Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high, high school, and college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but are often known by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20% of females between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know of someone with an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families. Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar families. The Deadly Diet can begin anywhere from the ages of ten to thirty. The peak age for the beginning of the Deadly Diet in females is eleven to fifteen; the peak for males is between fifteen and eighteen (Bauer, 89). Most of the information on the Deadly Diet says that it is a problem of teenage girls, but as clinics have found, most of the people who come to get therapy are in their twenties and thirties. This may be because younger people are less likely to seek professional help. Most often it is the parent who brings the patient for help. Adults who have left home and had to deal with managing their lives usually tend to realize more clearly the need to seek help and make changes. Saint Matthew was one of the twelve apostles and he wrote the Gospel according to Matthew. Although he was a publican, it is said the Saint Matthew was a Jew. Before his conversion, he was a publican, which was a tax collector, by profession. Not much is really known about Matthew later on in his life. Although not clear, some authorities think it was Palestine, and others think is was another early Christian center, possibly the city of Antioch, where it was written. Matthew s Gospel has been understood as Jewish Christian in outlook. Matthew had a number of purposes for writing the Gospel. One was to instruct and exhort members of his community. He has two broad categories of material: narrative and discourse. Many scholars conclude Matthew s primary intent was to write a handbook for church leaders to assist them in preaching, teaching, worship, mission, and polemic. In his Gospel, Matthew focused clearly on Jesus Christ and his kingdom as the good news of salvation. For Matthew, Jesus is not the son of David, but he is the son of Abraham. Notable in Matthew is its emphasis on Jesus as the promised Messiah and on matters pertaining to the church. Evidence that it probably was written for Jewish Christians may be found which is concerned with representing Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament. The deep interest in the disciples is emphasized in Matthew. Matthew gives the fullest account of how Jesus called them, how he instructed them, how they failed him, and ... The Necessity of Routine Dental Examinations Essay examples Routine Dental Examinations Visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a routine examination is recommended to find dental problems early. A knowledgeable dentist understands how to examine the facial structure, neck and mouth for abnormalities such as growths that indicate cancer. During the examination, the dentist can quickly fill tiny cavities or remove hardened plaque. Despite brushing carefully each day, many individuals miss tartar buildup below the gumline or between teeth. The dentist can remove the sticky plaque with scraping devices to prevent bacteria from causing gum inflammation and enamel erosion. Bacteria from plaque and tartar are the primary causes of decayed tooth enamel. Bacteria can destroy enamel causing an individual to experience pain from inside the tooth where tiny nerve endings are located. Tooth decay occurs between teeth, on biting surfaces or near dental roots. A dentist can usually restore a tooth with a small cavity by using a specialized drill to remove damaged enamel and bacteria. After removing the decay and sanitizing the area, a restoration is necessary to support the outer layer of a tooth. Gum Inflammation Individuals experiencing gum inflammation should see a dentist quickly for treatment. The typical signs of gingivitis of the gums are swollen tissue, frequent bleeding or discomfort while chewing food. Immediate intervention from a dentist is required when gum tissue has a chronic infection. Untreated gingivitis can lead to loss of teeth due to root or pulp infection. In addition to a visual examination of teeth and gums, a dentist will require medical imaging tests to look at underlying structures including bone tissue. Many leaders after him have looked to him as an example of what a good leader should be. Alexander the Great s tomb was one of the biggest tourist attractions of the ancient world. Roman emperors, including Pompey, Julius Caesar, and Caligula traveled to Alexandria to pay their respects. It all started at the age of 18 when Alexander took charge of the Companion Cavalry and helped his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban armies. Starting from such a young age Alexander has been already shaping the empire he would create. At the age of twenty he became king, then by the age of twenty six he conquered the Persian Empire and at age thirty explored the Indian frontier. He was an unstoppable force conquering the world. Alexander the Great is the greatest conqueror of the known world, because of the personal teachings of Aristotle of Stagira, his innovated militarygenius and multicultural integration methods. Aristotle is one of the greatest intellectual figures of Western history. Still today we are using his works in philosophy and the sciences. • 25. Hollow Face Impression Analysis The hollow face illusion is an illusion produced by ambiguity of visual depth processing (Gregory 1970). It occurs when a concave, hollow mask is perceived as a convex face i.e. with facial features protruding towards the observer (Hill and Johnston, 2007). Hill and Bruce (1993) propose that the illusion is a result of the contradictory information received from depth cues. Contrary to this, Hill and Johnston (2007) assert that this is not the case. Rather, they emphasise alternative explanations such as the familiarity of faces and a general inclination towards convexity. A number of studies support these assertions, and moreover provide evidence that suggests a number of factors are critical in creating the illusion. Primarily, these include motion, shading, and orientation. (Marr, 1982; Gregory, 1973; Hill and Bruce, 1993; Georgeson, 1979).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our brain receives input that is processed by the visual system in order to create perception. This is referred to as bottom up processing, as the information travels through a hierarchy of structures ranging from early cortical areas to higher functioning systems (Oram and Perret, 1994). In contrast, our brain often makes inferences about what we perceive, as a function of top down processing (Cauller, 1995). In the case of the hollow face illusion, our brain knows what we are observing is a face, and that faces are typically associated with convex objects (Gregory, 1973). Jane is presented with a marriage proposal and an opportunity to travel to India with St. John Rivers. While this is the chosen path in the first manuscript of Jane Eyre in Fforde s novel, the ending is altered to parallel that of Thursday Next s marriage plot. Jane, like Thursday, denies this proposal and follows her heart. She returns to Thornfield to marry Mr. Rochester. With all the water going into the reactor, water flow was reduced causing the power levels to slowly increase. • 41. Zinn Chapter 1 Sujay Deshpande Mr. Lifland AP US History 1 August 2015 A People s History of the United States: By Howard Zinn Chapter 1: Chapter one of Howard Zinn s A People s History of the United States discusses the differences between the culture and attitudes of the Europeans and the Native Americans. It further describes how the Europeans came to the New World and committed genocide against the Native Americans in order to get land and gold from them, which displayed the cruelty and greed of the European explorers coming to the Americas. However, many historians consider these actions by the European Conquistadors to be necessary in order for human progress to occur, but Zinn argues whether human progress needed all of these barbaric actions. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zinn mentions throughout the text about how awfully treated women were compared to men and how they were considered inferior to men. Zinn believes that the discrimination and mistreatment of women during the Colonial time period was the leading cause of the first movements of women s rights in America. Zinn initially talks about the difference of treatment between Native American women and women in the colonies, as he writes, It would be an exaggeration to say that women were treated equally with men; but they were treated with respect, and the communal nature of the society gave them a more important place. (Zinn) This quotation shows how the Native American women were treated with respect from others while the women in the colonies were sexually abused and considered worthless by their masters and husbands. Zinn uses this evidence to really show the better treatment of Native American women compared to the women in the colonies. In addition, Zinn goes into further detail about the treatment of women and references to what the slave traders saw, as they state, I saw pregnant women give birth to babies while chained to corpses which our drunken overseers had not removed... . packed spoon fashion they often gave birth to children in the scalding perspiration from the human cargo. • 42. Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies, this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould produce a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth. Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time together outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well. However, not unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women. His most notable affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in waiting to the Queen. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy, and the boy was named Henry. • 45. Effects Of Texas Rebellion Texas, initially Mexican territory, would lose this identity as diversity began to advance across the state. Texas became full of diversity prior to the rebellion. Texas at the time was at its most diverse (Unit 4, The Peoples of Mexican Texas). There were visible cultural differences and practices. However, the differences were hardly significant enough to propel Texasinto a rebellion. The moment the Anglos set foot in to Texas, the cultural differences were noticeable to both sides, but it was not enough to deter either side from attempting to coexist (Unit 4, The Peoples of Mexican Texas). The Texas rebellion began to formulate at a time where the Anglo population began to peak. The rebellion was inevitable, and long before cultural conflicts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Political conflict, was a key component in multiple uprisings during the time. Economic motivations, grew to a point where it never reached prior to the Jacksonian era. Social changes, divided a significant amount of people within Texas itself. Cultural differences were notable and existed, but they took on a smaller role compared to politics, economics, and social changes. While cultural differences were present, they were not nearly enough to spark an entire rebellion. The cultural differences made it difficult to easily assimilate, but hardly impossible. The inability to quickly adjust to preceding expected cultural norms was a very unlikely reason for the rebellion. Weber, initially presents a very valid argument of the cultural differences between Anglo Texans and Mexican Texans. However, he makes it clear in his essay that despite the cultural differences, the main fight was between the Mexican Texan and the centralist Mexican government (MPTH, 139). There is more than enough evidence to support that the Texas rebellion would occur inevitably, as the discontent with the Mexican leadership rose. Consequently, it appeared that both cultures were able to coexist exceptionally. It is also leaves a curious question on whether culture assimilation, rather than cultural differences lead to the Texas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due in large part to this Civil Rights movement during the 1960s, there was a switch in the Democratic and Republican parties in terms of region and race of the parties supporting coalitions. Race in America was a substantial motivating factor for the switch in political party identification during the 1960s. Liberal Democrats in the north wanted their party to improve civil rights for black Americans, and this caused Democratic party members to take advantage of their position on strong federal power to increase equality on a national scale. • 47. The Thought and Influence of Voltaire Essay The Thought and Influence of Voltaire I The legacy of FranГ§ois Marie Arouet, or Voltaire is not only a vast collection of writings, but also a world that has been radically and directly affected by these works and the activities of their author. While Voltaire did not create many of the ideas he professed, his success at disseminating these is unparalleled. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues of the Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised. This paper will focus on Voltaires stances on vital issues, their weight versus the ideas and practices against which they are reactions, and their influence on both 18th century Europe and the modern West. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God was not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age where behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke) believed that action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of environment. The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7] While this theory brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes people into passive receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8] Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell as motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake. While just laws would ensure just actions by the general population, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay Introduction In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method, findings of the study, and the discussion. Theory and Hypothesis The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character (Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the feelings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
