8. AT THE BANGLORE WORLD BANK HEALTH PROJECT -HOW ISO 9000 HELPS IN IMPROVING PERFORMANCE APPLICATION OF ISO 9000

OBJECTIVE: To provide free primary health & maternity services to women & children in Banglore’s urban slums, encompassing Family planning, health care for mothers, immunization for Children, post & ante-natal care, and ultimately to reduce infant mortality. IPP VIII is a community development program - Covering 8,50,000 urban poor residing in over 500 slums in a city corporation area of 225 sq. km.

AUDIT FINDINGS: were discussed with the project managers & the centers corrective actions were taken two rounds of internal quality audits were carried out first on technical aspect & then on the system. - necessary corrective measures were implemented. - the concept of process & system approach were communicated to improve overall effectiveness. - all 30 primary health centers were successfully certified with ISO 9002 at the first attempt & became the first multi site state agency project in India to do so.
