high throughput format to identify novel modulators of
the extracellular matrix and potentially new targets.

Applying Tissue Engineering to Develop
3D Cell Based Assays
Workshop leader:
Felicity Rose, Associate Professor in Tissue
Engineering, University of Nottingham
Overview of workshop:
This workshop will explore the application of tissue
engineering to the generation of 3D in vitro models for
disease modeling, toxicology testing and drug
screening. The session will be kicked-off with a
presentation of work that has aimed to develop a 3D
model of the human bronchial mucosa and will
include case studies from industry where drug
molecules have failed in clinical trials despite having
passed in vitro testing.
Why should delegates attend this workshop:
If you have an interest in developing 3D in vitro tissue
models or would like to know more about how tissue
engineering can be applied to in vitro testing, then
this workshop is for you. We are particularly keen to
hear from potential end users to understand
limitations in current in vitro tests being used and what
they would like to be able to implement into their
panel of in vitro assays available to them.
