3. Meeting 6: 17-09-14
Meeting Outcomes:
• The team began to unpack the step by step
process moving forward to 2015
• GPS rewrite discussion
• 3T Principles model, updated draft
4. “How might we create engaging
learning spaces with all members of
the School community?”
What is our mission
statement and values
that the Third Teacher
Project stands for?
How do we look to support
staff expressions of interest
in developing the
environment for learning?
How will we celebrate and
share transformations to
learning spaces with the SPS
and wider community?
What kind of obstacles
and road blocks lie ahead
and how will we hope to
adapt, minimise and
overcome them?
How can we encourage
staff to co-create flexible,
humanised learning
spaces that support
teaching and learning?
How can we ensure that any
or all future developments
at SPS makes considerations
for the environment for
learning?
How will we ensure
students co-create
learning spaces with us,
whether at a classroom or
larger project level?
NEW: How do we grow a
culture, among staff and
students, of positive
ownership of learning
spaces?

What is the environment for learning ?
1. What is the environment for learning? Breaking it down into 4 elements:
Technology, Environment, Affiliation and Mindset.
2. What are the benefits of the making considerations to the environment
for learning?
What current research says, 21st century learning context, formative
from the 2013 learning scan.
3. How can people engage in the process?
–Step by step
-Specific strategies of how staff could make considerations to the
environment (design process?)
-Step by step guide to analysing the learning space (what, how)
4. An example for each learning environment/3T value?
9. Third Teacher Project Timeline 2015
• A need, want or opportunity (proposal)
• A Brief/Constraints (co-created staff and
students)
• Design
• Production

TERM 4 TIMELINE:
(Week 1) MS Leadership meeting
(Week 2) Briefly meet Curriculum Leaders to outline the role of the Third Teacher Project:
Mission statement and core values (who we are and what we do) + model
How we are looking to identify pilot learning spaces (not necessarily a classroom) in the School that we can support the development of (design principles, third teacher principles, research and limited monetary funding)
by working with the staff and students who use the learning space.
WOULD BE USEFUL TO HAVE A VIDEO OF WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT OR WHAT THE 3T ISN’T (Probably too much work to put together in the short-term).
3. Outline proposal form and process (submit form, we will arrange a meeting to discuss)
4. Any questions?
(Week 3) Briefing – Video or 2 min explanation? Perhaps 3 mins of sharing some of the great practice going on at School and if you would like some support developing an area where you teach please discuss with colleagues and CLs, or go to Wikispaces for more information (send out email that morning)
(Week 5) Reminder email to all staff

Also Erin and David want to support with PLC
Feedback on the model:
Values are enduring and rarely change. Principles evolve to your circumstances and can change (they don’t have to, but they can).
Changes to Values (+ justification):
Technology -> Tools
(Technology is the collection of tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures used by humans, however most people would perceive it being ICT based, so tea mostly agreed that tools may be a better choice)
Environment -> Physical & Virtual Space
(Confusion could be caused with the word environment as we are already talking about an environment for learning, virtual space included after conversations with JCA)
Affiliation -> Connection
(Common lack of understanding of this word, so connection gives a clearer understanding)
Principles:
-Removed the word ‘physical’ from climate and furnishings
Other suggestions:
-Agency instead of affiliation
-Space/Cultural design elements instead of environment
-Hovering definitions on Wiki/GPS
