Our school is called FEDAC Sant Andreu, located in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona. It is around 150 years old with 650-700 students across many classrooms, halls, dining rooms, and four playgrounds. There are about 50 teachers. Students have a varied schedule, starting between 8-9am and finishing between 1:30-5pm depending on the day, with new subjects and one laptop each now that they are in secondary school. The school places an emphasis on education for sustainable development through various projects and activities under their "Agenda 21" focusing on reducing waste, biodiversity, and beautifying the school with plants. The school celebrates various traditions throughout the year like Carnival,

Our school is called FEDAC Sant Andreu,
because it’s situated in Sant Andreu
neighborhood, Barcelona. In our area we
have a lot of big stores, cafés,
restaurants, parks, and a lot of funny and
interesting things.

3. Weather in Barcelona
SPRING IN BCN
In spring it's very hot, a normal temperature
could be 23 ºC. In spring all the trees bloom
and have flowers with lots of colour. Some
times it rains.
You can come here in spring
because you will see a lot
of nice things, for example
nature.

4. SUMMER IN BCN:
Summer is very hot, so it is
often from 23ºC to 34ºC.
So it’s very important to
wear a t-shirt , shorts and
sandals.
Do you know the maximum
temperature that we have
ever had in summer? It
was the 27th August 2010:
39.3ºC.

5. OUR SCHOOL
Our school is around 150 years old. In this school
there are between 650 and 700 students, we
have a lot of friends here.
We have many classrooms plus the technology
room, the laboratory, the classrooms for 3 to
5 year-olds, Pare Coll hall, the main hall and
the chapel. We also have 2 dining rooms, for
teachers and for students. And the kitchen, of
course!

6. There are about fifty teachers, they are
very nice! There are four playgrounds
too, the biggest one is the playground
where we do P.E. At dinner time we
play in the upstairs playground.
And this is our school!

7. SCHOOL SCHEDULE
We are at the first course of secondary school. We are 12 years old.
Three days of the week we start school at eight o’clock and two
days at nine o’clock.
Normally we finish at five o’clock, except on Wednesdays when we
finish at half past one.
The school schedule is different from primary school because in
primary we started school at nine o’clock every day.
Now, we have new subjects, new teachers and one laptop for each
student.

8. AGENDA 21
Education for Sustainable
Development is one of our big
projects, which we call
AGENDA 21
Our first activity was the new use
of BOCK & ROLL. In this project
we learnt to reduce foil, because
it pollutes our planet.

9. Our second activity was working on biodiversity, water,
energy... Through power point presentations.
We want to have a green school in all senses, so we
started putting plants and flowers in all the school
Windows.
This year we’ll make a great effort to continue working on
BIODIVERSITY.

10. What do we celebrate at school?
Carnival: fun!!
Castanyada: we decore the school and
we eat "panellets".
Christmas: In Christmas we go to a
church called "Sant Pacià" and we sing
carols in English, Catalan and Spanish.
We play instruments too.
Invisible friend: We give a present to
another person that doesn't know who
gives the present to him/her.
The day of Pare Coll: In that day, we go
to the playground and then we eat
chocolate with biscuits. The Pare Coll is
the founder of the school.

11. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In our country there are many extracurricular activities.
We can practice them when we finish school at five, or
at the weekends:
- Sports: Rugby, Hockey, Football, Basketball, Tennis,
Athletics, gymnastics, skating, Karate, judo...
- Water sports: swimming and synchronized swimming.
- Dance: Classical, Modern Jazz, Hip Hop, Funky Ballet.
- Language: English, Catalan, Spanish...
-Art: Music, Art, Drama, etc..
