The students in a 1st grade class proposed creating a small natural corner in their classroom with plants, flowers, and a small aquarium to care for. Each student contributed items to build the green corner, which they painted and added potted plants and flowers to. They also added a freshwater fish aquarium. Now, on a weekly basis, the students care for the fish and plants, and have used the natural corner as a way to ask questions and do research about fish and the environment, with the goal of making their school and town greener.
