How does your media product represent particular social groups?oluus
My magazine aims to represent various social groups including ages 17-25 through an informal writing style. It focuses on the working and middle classes by keeping the price reasonable and featuring artists from similar backgrounds. While more feminine aspects like colors are included, masculine colors and a male model balance the representation of gender. The models and artists featured are currently all white British by coincidence rather than design, as the goal is a multicultural representation regardless of ethnicity. Individuals are targeted rather than specific social groups to attract a wider range of music tastes.
The document discusses how a media product represents a particular social group. It summarizes:
1) The target audience is girls in early-to-late teens. It aims to attract this group through focusing on different music genres and female artists, while also using neutral colors that could appeal to males.
2) The language and images used represent the target age group. Colloquial language and loud, dark fashion in the photoshoot connect to the social group. Dark images also reflect insecurities and secrets of the audience.
3) Including the latest music charts and popular artists attracts the young audience who are interested in popular culture, celebrities, and staying up to date on music.
This document discusses how the media product represents social groups in terms of gender, colors, and age. For gender, it represents both males and females equally through images and content. The colors were chosen to represent the music genre rather than gender. The target age range of the magazine is 15-24 to discuss music festivals and gigs relevant to that audience and feature artists within that age range.
This document discusses how a media product represents and targets particular social groups. Specifically, it analyzes how a magazine targets and represents a mixed gender audience of teenagers ages 16-25. Some key ways included posing the subjects to look relaxed and engaged with the reader, using plain backgrounds, up-to-date language, and questions the target audience would want to know. The color scheme is also brighter to represent the fun side of teenage life.
Rose Buchanan is portrayed as a 16-year-old girl who represents teenagers experiencing social pressures that can lead to mental health problems. She is dressed in dark, plain colors and looks isolated to symbolize teenagers under pressure from society. Her clothing, makeup and hairstyle are used to portray her as a typical teenage girl outwardly, while hinting at her deteriorating mental state inwardly through details like dark eyes. The filmmakers chose to represent the main character as a teenage girl because they are seen as more vulnerable and susceptible to stress.
This document discusses how the media product, a music magazine, represents particular social groups in terms of age, gender, and class. For age, the magazine uses language and images that would appeal to its target 17-21 year old audience. For gender, it primarily features a female artist and uses feminine colors to appeal to and represent females. For class, it uses informal but not overly casual language, prices the magazine affordably at £2.50, and aims to appeal to and represent the working class.
This magazine represents youth through its vibrant colors, bright pops of text, and a young female cover model to appeal to younger generations. It also represents both females and males by including music from artists of both genders, though it may appeal slightly more to females given the feminine color scheme and female cover model. The mood of the magazine is happy, as evidenced by its bright purple color scheme and the cover model smiling warmly with minimal makeup in an approachable pose.
The document discusses the development of a music magazine, including considerations around conventions, target audience, and design elements. It identifies the target audience as working to middle class women aged 16-25 interested in chart music and fashion. Examples of target audience profiles are provided. The development process involved transforming the magazine from a school version to a more polished rough cut to final cut, improving various design elements like images, fonts, and color schemes.
