OTM Date Emphasis
OTM Date Emphasis
• Here is an explanation of Pickup and Delivery dates and date emphasis and some parameters in use when figuring out shipment/pickup dates
Here is what each option does:
Note: I will abbreviate all the date fields, as follows:
EPD: Early Pickup Date
LPD: Late Pickup Date
EDD: Early Delivery Date
LDD: Late Delivery Date
DATE EMPHASIS:
BOTH: This will make sure that the ALL the Order Release times are adhered do (i.e. EPD, LPD, EDD, LDD). In other words, the shipment will be built where the times on the shipment
will ensure that all those data time requirements are met. In addition to the adherence of these four datetime fields, OTM must ALSO adhere to CURRENT time (i.e. we can not create
a shipment that starts anytime earlier than “now”)
SHIP: We will adhere to ONLY the EPD and LPD (i.e. only the pickup times). We will pretend that the EDD and LDD (i.e. delivery times) are non-existent. This also must adhere to
CURRENT time (i.e. no shipments in the past)
DELV: We will adhere to ONLY the EDD and LDD (i.e. only the delivery time). We will pretend that the EPD and LPD (i.e. pickup times) are non-existent. This also must adhere to
CURRENT time (i.e. no shipments in the past)
PAST: This is the same exact thing as BOTH (i.e. must adhere to ALL the times)…however lift the CURRENT time restriction, meaning we can create a shipment that starts in the past.
For example, if the EPD is last year, we can create a shipment that starts last year.
NONE: This ignores ALL the times on the Order Release (i.e. ignores EPD, LPD, EDD, LDD). Only restriction is that we must adhere to CURRENT time (i.e. we can not create a
shipment that starts in the past)
OTM Date Emphasis
• The control on if we want to start a shipment as “early as possible” or “as late as
possible” is controlled by a Parameter called:
HOLD AS LATE AS POSSIBLE - which you have set to TRUE
When FALSE (the default), we will plan the shipment using the times on the order
(the times that are adhered to based on the Date Emphasis) starting as the
earliest time possible that is feasible.
When TRUE, we will plan a shipment that leaves at the latest time possible
(within the pickup constraints, if adhered to based on the Date Emphasis
selection) that is feasible.
Also the date is effected by:
ORDER WINDOW TIME SPAN - which you have set to 30
OTM Date Emphasis
•
---> So in your TEST case there is no LPD (field is null on your order) - so since that field is null
and the parameter ORDER WINDOW TIME SPAN = 30, it adds 30 days to the EPD and uses that
since HOLD AS LATE AS POSSIBLE PARAM is = TRUE.
So you have 2 alternatives here to get the earliest date or the EPD:
1. Enter a date/time in the LPD - so this would be used instead of going out 30 days.
2. Change the HOLD AS LATE AS POSSIBLE to = FALSE - then it should pick the earliest date which
would be the 7/21 date in this case.
Let me know if you have questions on the above.
I just tested out same dates/date emphasis in our 22.2 internal instance with above parameters
TRUE/FALSE and 5/30 and I am getting the expected results as I mentioned above.
Thanks,
