INTRODUCTION
WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations
system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) is a department under the
Ministry of Human Resources. This department is responsible for ensuring the safety, health
and welfare of people at work as well as protecting other people from the safety and health
hazards arising

As a government agency, the department is responsible for the administration and
enforcement of legislations related to occupational safety and health of the country, with a
vision of becoming an organisation which leads the nation in creating a safe and healthy work
culture that contributes towards enhancing the quality of working life.

SCOPE

1. Reducing the rate of fatalities up to 20%;
2. Reducing the rate of reported accidents (deaths, permanent loss of ability, temporary loss
   of ability) up to 20%;
3. Increasing enforcement inspections up to 100%;
4. Increasing the number of workplaces employing Safety and Health Officer up to 20%.

INTRODUCTION

NIOSH is committed to ensure a safe and healthy working environment to all employees
and others involved in or affected by its operation taking into account statutory
requirement and relevant national and international standards and codes of practices.

Implementation and effectiveness of this policy is a line management responsibility
together with the participation and involvement of all employees and NIOSH will ensure
that adequate resources, training and time are made available.

OSH matter will be given equal priority with other major business objectives.

Safety and Health management systems and programmes will be regularly reviewed to
ensure continuous improvement.

Humanistic approach will be adopted by NIOSH to promote a safe and healthy work
culture which employer and employees share the common responsibility of creating a
better work environment for all.

INTRODUCTION

The Social Security Organization is an organization set up to administer, enforce and
implement the Employees' Social Security Act, 1969 and the Employees' Social Security
(General) Regulations 1971.
The Social Security Organization provides social security protection by social insurance
including medical and cash benefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilitation to
employees to reduce the sufferings and to provide financial guarantees and protection to the
family.


PURPOSE

The purpose of SOCSO is to provide security and protection, as well as a just, accurate, timely and
quality service economically to all employees, their dependents and their employers. SOCSO aims to:

    Pay temporary disablement beneficts ( first payment) to injured employees withina month.
    Pay disablement benefits (first payment) and contant attendance allowance to all injured
     employees within 3 month
    Pay disablement benefits (first payment)to dependents within 3 month
    Pay invalidity pension (first payment)/ invalidity grant / constant attendance allowance to
     employees who qualify within a period of 3 month
    Pay survivor’s pension (first payment) to dependents within a period of 3 month.
    Pay funeral benefits to eligible of deceased person within 15 days.
