HTML5 and the dawn of rich mobile web applicationsJames Pearce
HTML5 and its related technologies are enabling new ways to build beautiful sites and applications for contemporary mobile devices. Native mobile developers can now use web technologies to surmount cross-platform headaches, and desktop web developers can reach mobile users in familiar, app-like ways. This session explores the state of the art in HTML5-based mobile web frameworks, and demonstrates the practical possibilities that this powerful and standards-based approach can bring.

Gamifying the User’s Journey and the CSPs Service Offering
Adnan Saleem, CTO Software and Cloud Solutions
Telecom operators and numerous industry verticals lack creative engagement with their digital-savvy customer base. The next-generation AI-based applications can enable operators to offer personalized experiences while driving new monetization opportunities. Gamification of user interactions in various applications can be done by ‘rewarding’ users for taking desired actions and active participation, and delivering relevant content and offers within immersive experiences are some of the unique ways to engage the users and monetize the contextual interactions.
However, balancing the cost of delivering dynamically personalized services, enhancing customer experience through immersive digital engagements, and optimizing business productivity remains a crucial challenge for businesses, application developers, service providers, and system integrators. The business growth will come by integrating the right mix of technologies such as 5G, IoT, cloud edge computing, speech analytics, augmented reality, computer vision, conversational artificial intelligence, and machine learning; and an integrated ecosystem that includes partner on-boarding, logistics, promotional inventory management and behavioral analytics.
Radisys has recently collaborated with the TM Forum to deliver a project, called ‘Ready Telco One’ (led by Orange Group, Orange Poland, KDDI, and solution vendors) that demonstrates how telecom operators can gamify user journeys in various applications in health and fitness, live events, education and learning, entertainment and marketing campaigns to name a few. . This presentation will focus on how Radisys was able to streamline live AR/VR multimedia interactions with a robust media server platform (User Interaction Delivery Engine) for hyper-personalized, real-time customer engagement.
IBM Worklight - Enterprise level mobile development and managementShay Rosen (שי רוזן)
My last presentation from the CIO Focus 2013 convention held in the David Intercontinental convention center in Tel Aviv. Presentation demonstrates how IBM Worklight can help organizations build a robust mobile channel to address the latest trends in mobile apps and mobile web usage.. While we were talking about the "mobile revolution" in the last 2-3 years, it looks like users have taken a slightly different way then analysts have predicted. The new mobile usage trends brings great challenges to organization's IT divisions, challenges that demand a new approach both in business and technology. More details - in the presentation itself.

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. 33. Overall conclusions
Smartphones fragmentation is obvious when looking at the number and diversity of Operating Systems,
browsers, layout engines, screen resolutions, screen sizes, screen types, and hardware configurations
, y g , , , yp , g
(RAM memory + processor)
WebKit is the most used layout engine by far but there are in fact several different versions of WebKit,
and at least as much implementations; we even noticed differences with a same version of WebKit used
by two different browsers
Irregularities show up when following the progression of browsers in term of browsing technologies
support
But as of 2011, we were seeing
All the latest versions of browsers starting to converge to a near full support of established features
in the browsing technologies standards (advanced JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5)
The production of non-touch devices nearly stopping, the production of Highest Touch devices
dominating (since 2010), and the production of devices with a dual-core processor starting
So what to expect in 2013 and after?
Many more new devices to be produced, widening the gap with older devices still in use
Today’s smartphones fragmentation will not be resolved in the coming years
Tomorrow’s smartphones fragmentation will expand today’s with new HTML5 and CSS3 features
implementations (as the two standards are not yet finalized), and new specific implementations that
may or may not become the next standards

104. A Quick Overview of Key Web Technologies
HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3 are three
independent but complementary technologies
• “HTML5” and HTML5 logo often used loosely to
mean a combination of web technologies such as
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, etc.
With these technologies developers can
• Create standalone apps than can be loaded from
the cloud, installed as an app, or bundled with an
OS
• Create websites that are optimized for a much
broader range of devices, particularly mobile
devices
• Leverage HTML5 and Web competences in
creating stand alone applications with full access to
device resources
