Editor's Notes MasterCard was using a 3rd party tools develop and make changes to the Purchase Orders used 50 different Operating Units across the globe. Each of these included specific terms and conditions for each operating unit and national or regional requirements.Using this 3rd party tool it took MasterCard about 3 months develop new a Purchase Order or make changes to the terms and conditions And involved a business analyst, a developer from IT and a consultant from the 3rd party software vendor. Since implementing BI Publisher the business analyst, without the need for help from an IT developer nor a 3rd party vendor, MasterCard can now turn around changes or a new PO for an operating Unit in 3 to 5 days – 12 times faster than it used to take. With one person instead of three. BI Publisher template generates high fidelity, pixel perfect reports to PDF, RTF, Excel, PowerPoint, and HTML (static). BI Publisher template generates high fidelity, pixel perfect reports to PDF, RTF, Excel, PowerPoint, and HTML (static). Oracle BI enforces strong security based on whatever authentication/authorization systems you deploy. Between internal components, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) can be easily configured between distributed components with really on only one click in Enterprise Manager. New in Oracle BI 11g, the metadata catalog is now encrypted.Privileges for Application roles can be sourced from corporate directories, Oracle Identity Management, or other vendors’ solutions, ensuring quick implementation and conformance to enterprise security standards. Large-scale enterprise BI systems must deliver mission-critical scalability and performance, and this typically means multiple physical servers to manage. Operational system management for Oracle BI 11g is delivered through Oracle Enterprise Manager. This enables consistent diagnostics and troubleshooting, and easy configuration management of the distributed system topology over its complete lifecycle, including patching. With Enterprise Manager, you can manage not only Oracle BI, but also Oracle database, Fusion Middleware and Oracle applications. As we’ve seen, Oracle BI, including Essbase is architected from the beginning for performance and scale. There are 100s of performance optimizations designed, together, to deliver the best query performance across whatever data sources you use. In the 11g release, there is further improvement in the use of large memory in 64-bit systems, better cache seeding and cache usage.Deployment options range from small, single node machines through large clustered environments for High Availability. Additionally, Oracle BI can be hosted, offered through Business Process Outsourcers, or embedded by ISVs and OEMs.Sophisticated Active-Active clustering with automatic failover enables full utilization of compute resources, easy scaleout to address dynamic performance demands, and on-line patching to minimize downtime during upgrade cycles
