Using DevOps to Improve Software Quality in the CloudTechWell
DevOps is gaining popularity as a way to quickly and successfully deploy new software. With all the emphasis on deployment, software quality can sometimes be overlooked. In order to understand how DevOps and software testing mesh, Glenn Buckholz demonstrates a fully implemented continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) stack. After describing the internals of how CI/CD works, Glenn identifies the touch points in the stack that are important for testing organizations. With the now accelerated ability to deliver software, the testing groups need to know how this technology works and what to do with it because swarms of manual testers will not be able to keep up. Glenn demonstrates where and how to use automated testing, how to collect and make sense of the massive amount of test results that can be generated from CI/CD, and how to usefully apply manual testing.
Get on the path to continuous delivery
While there are plenty of resources and tools to begin tinkering with automated software delivery and application release automation, what makes the difference between delivering software infrequently vs. on-demand? Watch now to learn three key considerations you should make if you’re serious about continuous delivery.
In this webinar, we’ll discuss:
(Finally) moving to an agile practice: More than an industry buzzword, agile development practices are crucial to unlocking the full potential of continuous delivery while offering a means to benchmark progress.
How to get full control and visibility into the software delivery pipeline: When teams spend less time manually pushing software out, they can assess and address process pains and obstacles.
Why standardizing your software delivery process and toolchain is critical: Silos exist across the software delivery lifecycle because of the sheer number of different tools available: it’s time to standardize these to break down the silos.
Presented by: Rahul Singh, VP of Engineering and Michael Olson, Senior Product Marketing Manager.

DevOps isn’t just for the “unicorn” companies out there like Google and Apple. DevOps practices are rapidly hitting the mainstream as more organizations realize the need to behave like software companies and improve how they work in order to deliver better value to customers.
If you’re sold on the value of DevOps but having trouble getting buy-in from your peers and managers, or if you’re not sure where to get started, this webinar is for you. Based on findings from the 2016 State of DevOps Report, our friends at Puppet share a roadmap for driving DevOps adoption within your organization.
We cover:
- How to build the business case for DevOps
- The cultural changes required
- Ways to align incentives and teams to improve collaboration
- Key technical practices of high-performing teams
- Where to start

Model-Based Testing is one of the hottest trends in test automation, and this webinar will show you why.
Modelling can lift the barriers preventing enterprise-wide test automation adoption. This webinar will present the latest tools and techniques capable of achieving automation success. You will see how:
1. Automated test generation replaces slow and repetitious scripting.
2. Easy-to-maintain flowchart models provide a simple way to build tests for a wide-range of frameworks.
3. Testers without coding skills can build tests rapidly, re-using code created by a core of skilled engineers.
4. Requirements including Gherkin specifications can be converted automatically to flowchart models, rapidly moving from new user stories to automated tests.
5. “Just in time” data resolution during test execution ensures that there is always up-to-date, valid data for every automated test.
6. “Single pane of glass” automation significantly reduces test maintenance effort, while maximising the value of test automation frameworks.
These technologies enable organizations to work from existing islands of quality automation, moving to enterprise-wide test automation. You can empower every tester at your organization to become an effective automation engineer. Sound too good to be true? Come and see for yourself!

Leveraging Open Source Automation: A Selenium WebDriver ExampleTechWell
As online activities create more revenue than ever, organizations are turning to Selenium both to test their web applications and to reduce costs. Since Selenium is open source, there is no licensing fee. However, as with purchased tools, the same automation challenges remain, and users do not have formal support and maintenance. Proper strategic planning and the use of advanced automation concepts are a must to ensure successful Selenium automation efforts. Sharing his experience designing and implementing advanced automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver, David Dang describes the factors necessary to ensure open source automation is right for your project. David helps you understand the real effort required to implement WebDriver in a way that will scale and minimize script development. Additionally, he dives into must-haves in your Selenium framework design, the resource and timeline considerations necessary to implement WebDriver, and the long-term, continual improvement enhancements all automation engineers should consider in their Selenium automation implementations.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
