INTRODUCTION
This study is aimed for knowing the different
levels of the organization and its functioning
towards the society .
   As a management student this study will
reveal about the important facts about
efficiency of the management.
INDUSTRY PROFILE
• Steel has had a major influence on our
  lives, the cars we drive, the buildings we work
  in, the homes in which we live and countless
  other facets in between. Steel is used in our
  electricity-power-line towers, natural-gas
  pipelines, machine tools, military weapons-
  the list is endless. Steel has also earned a
  place in our homes in protecting our
  families, making our lives convenient.
Objective of the study:

    To study the overall functioning of the firm.
COMPANY PROFILE
• Steel Industries Kerala Limited (SILK), a fully
  Government of Kerala Undertaking was
  established in 1975 and started its production in
  28th February 1980.
• Its is a major industrial conglomerate in the State
  of Kerala, with in house infrastructure facilities
  for design and engineering, steel and structural
  fabrication, manufacturing of steel and iron
  casting, alloy steel forgings, machines, etc.
• Steel Industries Kerala Limited (SILK) was
  incorporated under the companies Act, 1956
  and is fully owned by the Government of
  Kerala and governed by a Board of directors.
• The Steel Fabrication Unit at Cherthala
  commenced commercial production in 1980.
• The total Land available in Steel Fabrication
  Unit is 26 Acres.
• SILK has 5 Manufacturing Units, 2 Service
  Divisions and 2 Subsidiary Companies -

• Entrusted with actual production and
  fabrication of steel.
• Process of shaping, refining, and improving
  the mechanical properties of metals.
• Control plastic deformation under impact or
  pressure.
Material & Projects Department
It is divided in to purchase section, store
   section, and project section.
• Purchase Section –
1. Deals with the purchasing of goods.
2. Evaluates the offer received from the various
     vendors.
3. Considers many factors such as
     price, quantity, quality, delivery time etc.
• Store Section –
1. Responsible for receiving raw materials and
   getting clearances from quality control
   department for issuing them to production.
2. This departments records the movement of
   raw materials, consumables, and spares and
   maintain records like daybook, goods
   receipt, bin card etc
• Projects Section –
   Concerned with undertaking various projects
   like expanding factory building, and
   maintaining computer system in all
   department of the company and also for
   networking the departments.
MARKETING DEPARTMENT
• MARKETING DEPARTMENT DEALS WITH SALES
  OF THE PRODUCTS.
• IN SILK MARKETING PROVIDES VARIETY OF
  FUNCTIONS RIGHT FROM CUSTOMER TO
  PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS
• PRIMARY DUTY IS TAKE DECISION OF
  PRODUCT MIX AND PROMOTION.
CONCLUSION
From the organizational study conducted at
Steel Industries Kerala Ltd , I got a practical
experience regarding the organizational
functioning . So I arrived at the conclusion
that the organization is not working properly
due to inefficiency of management.
