Heidelberg University has several open access initiatives including 14 open access journals hosted on the Open Journal Systems platform, an open access repository of works called HeiDOK, and a collection of digitized historic literature. The university is launching its first open access book series called Heidelberg Studies in Transculturality using the Open Monograph Press platform. The series will feature dissertations by international PhD candidates in transcultural studies that are written in English and of outstanding quality. The workflow for publishing books in the series involves an editorial production process using OMP, a layout production step, and hosting and publishing the final works.
