Pros & Cons of Social Media Recruiting
Users get real-time alerts It draws attention to new messages
Rapid clarification of requirements eligibility Build long-term professional relationships
Pros of Social Media Recruitment
Exploitation of information Need to be up dated in regular basis
Lack of Secracy & Ethics Some Org. do no like people from diverse regions
Transparency of information is questionable Profile information is limited
Cons of Social Media Recruitment
Methodology
1. Qualitative research, using meta-data from the
past scholarly research and articles
2. We searched several databases, mostly
Business and Computer oriented and
International conference papers
i. Research Style
1. We used the key words Internet, website,
online, attraction, work, e-recruitment for
searching degital material for inclusion in the paper
2. We followed Deductive Approach to generate
the list of proposed items through the review of the
previous literature
ii. Searching Style
1. We looked for the materials in ResearchGate,
CrossMark, and some common publishing
platforms like Springer, Elsevier, academia.edu,
and Sage Journals, Emerald Insight, Macrothink
and EBSCOHost databases
2. We also reviewed the reference lists of other
summaries
iii. Specific Search
1. We randomly identified 110 research, both
empirical & non-empirical and excluded most
non-empirical articles.
2. After evaluating based on the inclusion criteria,
we selected 70 research papers and a website
iv. Identification & inclusion
3
Cost and time are independent variables for ORS
4 Findings
4 Findings
Because it reduces operational costs, printed
material costs, authoritative costs, use of
magazines and daily newspaper costs
ORS is almost free
ORS makes the recruitment process more
concise, compelling, and cost-effective
4 Findings
Condition: for saving cost, the advertisement needs to
be posted in the own portal of the company
But before ORS system, finding the best cadidates
through HR agencies cost 20% of first year salary of an
employee
Posting a job vacancy on the company's
own website does not cost anything
Assuming:
Cτ = average time of traditional
recruitment
Cg = average time of online
recruitment
Kp = total cost of recruitment
platform preparation
K = remuneration per hour for a
recruitment specialist
∆ = per hour savings
N = number of potential candidates
Equation 1: Per-hour savings
∆ = (Cτ - Cg) . K
Measuring the efficiency of Money savings

V = A + BX
V = the value of the dependent
variable (Adopting ORS)
A = (Alpha) the intercept or constant
B = the slope (Beta Coefficient) for X
X = independent variable (MinCost&Time)
Mathematical Framework
4
Dependent variables are related to independent variables
Overal view: ORS
reduces Cost & Time
a
if it’s increased,
Cost & Time
increase too
Limitations of the study
This paper deals with only
generalized ORS. No specific
country or company was not
taken as research ground
05
Discussion
This is NOT an empirical
research. Only meta-data were
analysed
This paper focuses only on the
time and money-saving
approaches of ORS leaving all
other variables behind
This study was conducted on the
theoretical level, not on the on-
ground practice
A limited number of research
was chosen for data mining
Discussion on the finding
Nothing is free but researchers
tend to say ORS is free of cost.
Creating & maintaining
websites cost a lot. They may
discuss one-sided effect or
ignoring other side behind.
Posting an advertisement on
social media network &
continuing it costs thousand $.
The word limit is not unlimited.
ORS may demand more time if
professionals of an org. are
ICT illiterate. There might be
people who and anti-internet.
5
Need more empirical & quantitative research
Recommendations for further research
Need to test fairness & discrimination of algorithm for ORS
Need to know indvdl’s emotional reaction about ORS
Need research on liability & reliability of ORS
