ONE PAGE REPORT - Reverse Mentoring
Return On Intangible
In a recent article “Effective leaders develop and promote the culture: Bayer's K S Harish ” I was quite1
impressed by Bayer’s relentless pursuit of excellence, one for example, “Our accelerated leadership program
– My Growth My Life (MGML) – aims at grooming internal talent for leadership positions in the
organization.”, and the other Harish talking about is ‘Reverse Mentoring’.
With Bayer after such a big investment of $60 billion in Monsanto, Class action glyphosate lawsuit filed
against Bayer in many countries and glyphosate being banned by many a country, the article is one that is
indeed quite commendable. Going through what happened to VW, Siemens, HP - Autonomy, Infosys, TATA
and very recently IL&FS none of us are any wiser what classical action individual companies mentioned
have taken to go forward. No guarantee that such a material event would not happen again. I pinpoint in my
book as read, laughed and filed code, quoting Joseph Murphy in an OECD Review of anti-bribery
consultation paper.
My work explains how Newton’s Second Law of Motion, Force = Mass * Acceleration, is utilised for Return
on Intangible with Force as the Denominator. Although we tend to look at Corporate as a single entity, we
tend to forget the individuals. F as the Denominator identifies each individual and finds the equation as to
their performance, of each.
With Indian Economy targeting $5 trillion GDP by 2024, extrapolating with current Corporate growth would
be unimpressive. We are yet with the boss suppressing the one below as a rule of thumb? IL&FS will repeat
itself, so will be many banks that are clubbed together in their pursuance of inefficiency. India cannot better
their capital - output ratio, by any means. Attitude should change.
In my post on CSR Research and Corporate Sustainability I explain in a common template to reach the2
target of $ 5 trillion as well as competing well with China. CREAM Report of companies that I mention is a
holistic approach to Corporate Growth by analysing an Index of Inactivity by Process Area whereas an Index
of Inactivity by Resource Area prepared along with it, is an accurate assessment on the capability of
individuals within that company. Here where ‘Reverse Mentoring’ is very much needed?
If some one who could change the face of IL&FS it is the managers within
IL&FS who accept the ‘Reverse Mentoring’ for the guys on the top had
failed them. This is applicable to all companies where there is a great
number of young who have the three qualities Warren Buffett talks about.
I will go further in mentioning that these energetic managers would form a
team and would not mind mentoring for companies outside their own. $5
trillion is one whole India now adding another same in 4 years? We need
people with WB 3 qualities? Grooming internal talent for leadership positions anywhere in India. I want
Patanjali to top not just HUL? I want IL&FS to look for this team?
Successful IITs and IIMs make a very small group. We lack that set of men and women with 3 Qualities -
Integrity, Intelligence and Energy. Return on Intangible identifies them. The culture we all need but available
in plenty. Know it, they are ready for ‘Reverse Mentoring’, no longer hierarchical one man call centre in any
company?

Successful IITs and IIMs make a very small group. We lack that set of men and women with 3 Qualities - Integrity, Intelligence and Energy. Return on Intangible identifies them. The culture we all need but available in plenty.
