A CSR Idea!

Whats it all about?
This is an idea on how to make cities green
again. (With Bangalore, as an example)
You need not wait for the company to
implement it. Can be done on a team level as
well.
Problem
An excerpt from Indian Institute of Science report on Bangalore
Urbanization
“For every seven persons there is one tree. Based on age, every
day one person exhales 540-900 grams of carbon dioxide and
one hectare of trees takes in close to 8 ton of carbon dioxide. So
based on that calculation every person needs 8 trees. So you
can imagine how pathetic the situation is.”
Problem (continued)...
 With rapid urbanization and better employment opportunities,
there are people coming to cities which in turn leads to more
buildings at the cost of trees and an overall increase in city’s
temperature.
The green cover is slowly decreasing
 More Concrete, More vehicles, More Heat!
Last Year summer was the hottest(39.2 C) in the history of
Bangalore and it looks like this year might not be any
different.
Solution:
 If Bangalore becomes green again, it could impact the
weather conditions and the summers might not turn out to be
unbearable.
It’s a collective effort and an effort which might have
multiple layers of positive impact on the environment.
What companies can do:
 One member-One Tree
For every new member that a company inducts, let there be a
tree planted.
This can be done every year by consolidating the total
number of people who have joined the company.
This could also be an induction activity!
Also, Bangalore can set an example to other cities.
What if the company is not keen on this
idea but I am?
Implement the idea on a team level.
Plant a tree every year for the number of members
in your team.
Inspiration:
An Automobile company in Bangalore
For every vehicle that it sells in a year, there is a tree
planted the following year.
Spread the word!
 If you like the concept, then Share
We need to Act NOW!
Else it will be too late....
