The “X Syndrome” is a term coined by Stanford University and seems to be running rampant
at many colleges and in many high schools as well.
What is the X Syndrome?
Too many students on the outside appear calm, cool, and collected while on the
inside they are completely stressed out. It’s a “fake it till you make it” mentality.
Students work hard to complete assignments, get top grades, be the perfect ‘all-rounder’,
land the best internships, ignoring their mental and physical health. This causes unhappiness
and discontent which they try to confine within themselves to appear cool and jolly amongst
other students. This leads to unexpected outbursts, anxiety, depression and unhealthy habits.
This syndrome is named after an animal which while doing a certain activity looks calm but is
actually putting a lot of effort. X?

When Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the daughter of then Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was named
in the 2016 Panama Papers leak the court began an investigation into the 43-year-old.
Sharif's children were linked to offshore companies in the BritishVirgin Islands which were then used
to purchase expensive property in London, and the Pakistan federal investigation agency believed the
properties were bought with laundered money. Opposition figures accused Sharif of failing to
explain how he became so wealthy.
They discovered that Maryam was the sole shareholder of one of two BritishVirgin Island companies
which had invested in high-end London property.
But she claimed she had disclosed her ties to the BritishVirgin Island's firm in 2006 in a statement.
Documents submitted in defence of the Sharif family appeared to show that Maryam Sharif was only a
trustee of the company that bought the flats. But these same documents ended up exposing her lie?
