• It is a written round. Do not answer aloud.

• There’s a connect for +10/-10, open only until a
team answers correctly (pounce remains open after
we get a correct pounce until we move to the next
question)

1. ID the bird and FITB
This bird, held sacred to Isis (the Goddess), acquired royal
status as a result, and was nicknamed the “Pharaoh's chicken”.
They also hold importance in Hinduism as they are worshipped
in the Vedagiriswarar temple in Thirukazhukundram as the 8
sages cursed by Shiva. Offerings of rice, wheat, ghee and sugar
are made to these birds, which arrive punctually before noon
to feed. If they do not arrive on a particular day, it is said to be
due to the presence of sinners among the onlookers.
However, their appearances have reduced significantly, not due
to the onset of Kaliyug, but due to the usage of the analgesic
__________ by farmers.

2. ID X and the species.
X was unpopular with the members of the Seeonee
Pack due to his mock cordiality with them and his
habit of sucking up to Y, the main villain in the story.
X's food largely consists of scraps and leftovers of
the food eaten by Y or by the Seeonee pack. X's
back was crushed by Grey Brother of the Seeonee
Pack, killing X.

In the game Euchre, the highest trump is the right
bower, the knave of the trump suit. The second
highest trump is the left bower, which is the knave
with the same colour as the right bower.
However, in the 1860s, Americans devised a higher
trump known as the “Best Bower”, which is higher
than the right bower.
Samuel Hart was the first to print this best bower in
1863, and named it something derived from
Juckerspiel, the German word for Euchre.

5. Identify these generators (2 words)
In the past, these electrical generators were used to
provide high voltage for the spark plugs of petrol
engines. These generators, unlike dynamos, lack
commutators, and hence produced alternating
currents. Unlike most other alternators we're familiar
with, these use permanent magnets instead of field
coils.
Currently, they are used for small engines such as in
lawn mowers and chainsaws or very large ones in
piston engine aircraft. They are no longer used in
petrol engines of common road vehicles.

1. ID X
X's are graphical control elements used as
navigational aids on web pages and user
interfaces. An X allows users to keep track and
maintain awareness of their locations within
programs, documents, or websites. X's name is
inspired by a fairy tale. An example of an X is
shown below.

An X is a South African foot long submarine
sandwich, sometimes known as AK-47,
because of the way it can be held in he hand.
This filling, and ironically budget meal can be
found in most Cape Town corner stores. The
bread used in these are hot dog buns or rotis,
and the sauce is piri piri or achaar derived, but
the filling is unique to each vendor. It is a meal
meant to be shared among several people.

X is a term used to describe any species of the
order Siluriformes. These can vary greatly in
size, the larger ones (upto 100kg adults) being

maturity) kept in aquaria by enthusiasts. While
not usually dangerous, X's of the Amazon,
which grow to 200kg are reported to have killed
and eaten people. X have one of the greatest
size ranges amongst a single order of bony fish.

X is a tactic used by abusers, dictators and
narcissists to gain power over a victim by
making them question their reality. X is
performed slowly, but gradually, in such a way
that the victim is brainwashed without realising
the extent of this damage. X can only be
performed after the abuser establishes a certain
amount of trust with the victim. The origin of the
term comes from a 1944 movie, where a man
uses this tactic on his wife until she begins to
think she is losing her mind.

The following is a theory of synchronicity - that Pink Floyd’s seminal 1973 album
‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ syncs almost seamlessly with the 1939 MGM musical
‘The Wizard of Oz’. The combination is referred to as, the ‘Dark Side of the
