Assistant
Salary: £25k dependent on experience
Start Date: As soon as possible
Experience: 1 year+
Contract:12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
Location: London. The post will involve regular homeworking – suitable work space
required.

Interviews: First round, short telephone interviews will take place from the 27th
February.
We will then hold full face-to-face interviews, conduct written assessments, check references
and potentially hold a further interview.
The Old Dart Foundation is a private, UK-based foundation which awards charitable grants
in Peru and Papa New Guinea as well as the Philippines and Chile. We support initiatives to
improve health, literacy and education amongst disadvantaged women, children and young
people in order to alleviate poverty in the areas where we operate. We aim to achieve this by
supporting programmes led by organisations and individuals with demonstrable track
records or recognised skill in their fields.
The Foundation Assistant is a new, full-time position in a small team so the right candidate
will need to be able to work flexibly and independently. He/she will need to be confident in
driving the vision of the Foundation forward as well as being enthusiastic to support with
developing the Foundation’s infrastructure, including working on a new database and
website, supporting with grant reporting and communications, as well as general
administrative duties. He/she will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to
communicate successfully with a wide range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a lot of responsibility straight away, reporting directly to
the Foundation’s CEO, and will need to be able to work on their own initiative. The role is a
great opportunity for a motivated, reliable individual looking to progress their career in the
social sector.
The duties of the Foundation Assistant will include supporting with:
• Research into grant areas and developing organisational strategy;
• Organising international trips for Trustees and the CEO to visit projects;
• Due diligence on potential grantees;
• Managing grant applications, responding to enquiries and sending out
correspondence to grantees;

• Building strong relationships with our grantees and developing our role as a
supportive partner to our grantees;
• Research into our focus issues across our geographies;
• Preparing applications, reports and other documents for the Trustees and CEO as
part of our decision-making process;
• Maintaining up-to-date information on relevant databases;
• On-going monitoring and evaluating the impact of our grant making;
• General administration duties.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be able to prioritise and multi-task;
• Demonstrate initiative;
• Have good research skills;
• Have good attention to detail;
• Be financially literate;
• Be able to forge strong relationships with different stakeholders;
• Be fluent in English with excellent writing and communication skills (Spanish will be
an advantage)
• Be a team player who likes being part of a small team and gladly pitches in on any
task;
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel.
