The Director of Fund Development will be a member of the senior management team, and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the RWB’s Development department and its activities. The successful incumbent will be responsible for leading and maximizing RWB donor relations and budgeting initiatives. DIRECTOR OF FUND DEVELOPMENT
1. Founded in 1939, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet is one of the most recognized and respected ballet
companies in the world. Performing annually to more Canadians in more cities than any other
ballet company, the RWB was often the first and for some remains, the only
experience of live professional dance. Furthering the Company’s development, a

DIRECTOR OF FUND DEVELOPMENT
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a multi-year fund development plan for the organization;
Lead fund development planning, processes and activities, including: goal setting, annual and planned giving, individual
and corporate gifts; major gifts; sponsorships; grant applications; data management and special events;
Develop an effective donor relations program to advance and strengthen activities for donor cultivation and stewardship;
Manage the fund development revenue and expenditure budget;
Ensure creative and effective marketing and communications strategies to support fundraising;
Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization;
Liaise with key stakeholders, including senior staff and members of the Board of Directors, to cultivate active
engagement in development activities;
Build, develop, mentor and guide a highly effective and collaborative fund development team; and
Assist with the recruitment of volunteers to participate in fundraising activities.
Selection Criteria:
Related University or College degree preferred; various combinations of education and experience will be considered;
Minimum of 5 years of senior fund development experience;
Member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals;
Professional fundraising designation (CFRE) is highly desired;
Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and managing successful fundraising campaigns;
Track record of successful fund development from various sectors;
An appreciation of ballet and an understanding of the value of arts and culture is essential;
Exceptional written, oral, presentation and organizational skills; and
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to effectively gain the respect and support of various
stakeholders, including board members, management, donors and community members.
